Extended Summary

The Palmer household are having dinner together. Ty is writing song lyrics that he refuses to show Raffy. She tells him to dedicate the song to her and he jokes that it could be about a serial killer. Marilyn dishes up fruit loaf instead of the sticky date pudding the others expected. John tries it and is less than impressed; the others decline. Marilyn sends Raffy and Ty to empty the bins. Left alone, she looks at Ty’s lyrics. At first she smiles but then she looks concerned. Next morning, Irene and Jasmine are walking near the beach. Irene comments that Jasmine was up all night and Jasmine confirms she’s had trouble sleeping since everything that happened with Colby and Ebony. Olivia draws up in a taxi, having just got back from Melbourne. Jasmine has to go to take a phone call and Olivia claims the interview went fine.

At the hospital, Tori is on the phone to Mason, telling him the test was negative. She agrees that it simplifies things. She sees Ben and asks if he’s ready to go home. After commenting on how much stuff they have there, Ben admits that he’s a bit worried that they’ll miss the signs that Maggie isn’t well again. Tori assures him that that’s normal and he tells her not to say anything to Maggie. In her room, Maggie is chatting to Roo and tells her she won’t be able to go back to school for a while because of the risk of infection. She admits she’s scared about going home in case there’s an emergency. Roo says she doesn’t need that level of care anymore and asks what Ben thinks. Ben comes in and hears the last remark, with Maggie saying they were discussing him living with three women again.

Marilyn goes into the surf club and tells John that she thinks Ty has changed his mind about meeting his mum. She shows him a photo she took of Ty’s lyrics, in which he talks about someone turning their back on him and then being there by his side. Marilyn thinks that’s where he wants his mum to be but John says it could be about anything and thinks if Ty changed his mind then he’d tell them. Walking through a park area, Raffy suspects Ty is thinking about his mum and assures him she won’t lecture him this time. Ty says all his grandparents told him was that she didn’t want to see him anymore. Raffy suggests only she can tell him the truth and realises he’s worried she won’t accept him being gay. Ty says she’s already rejected him once.

At the Diner, Olivia is telling Irene and Leah that she didn’t have much opportunity to do shopping. They ask her about the interview but she only gives a perfunctory answer before talking about a cofee shop she went to. Alf chimes in, saying that’s not what they want to know about. Olivia says it was going well until they asked about her time with the Find and she had to admit she made poor choices. They told her they’d call but she’s not expecting much. She leaves as Jasmine comes in, saying she had a call from the prosecutor about testifying against Ebony. She wonders idf anyone’s checked on Robbo. The others think that Robbo isn’t the type to talk but Alf gives Jasmine his number. Soon after, while trying to compose a text to Robbo, Jasmine runs into Olivia near the beach and says she heard about the interview from Irene. Olivia says she can focus on her designs. Jasmine wishes she had something to focus on. Olivia suggests what Jasmine is into is helping people.

At the surf club, Roo approaches Tori and tells her Maggie’s worried about leaving hospital. Tori explains that Ben feels the same and says she’ll talk to them. Leah also goes over to Tori and apologises if she put her foot in it about Ash. Tori explains she was late but turned out not to be pregnant. She says she thought she would be relieved, with her tone implying she isn’t. Outside the Diner, Marilyn and John give Raffy her lunch. Marilyn asks if Ty has mentioned his mother. Raffy looks awkward and John sends her on her way, telling Marilyn it’s unfair to put her in a middle. Alf watches from by the bait shop as Marilyn insists Ty’s mother deserves a second chance if she’s turned her life around while John insists they have to support Ty’s decision.

Leah and Tori have retired to Salt. Leah says she’s fine with Tori oversharing. Tori says she always thought she’d have a career and then have a family: Witness Protection disrupted things and now she’s worried Ash was her one and only chance. Leah insists she’ll find someone else. Tori wonders how Leah coped with VJ on her own and Leah notes living in Summer Bay meant she had lots of help. At the hospital, Ben and Maggie are chatting about watching some shows together back home. Tori enters and tells them to be honest. Ben admits he’s scared about having Maggie home. Maggie laughs and says she’s terrified. Tori offers them some advice sheets, saying it’s mostly common sense.

Jasmine comes back into the Diner, finishing a phone call with Robbo. Irene and Olivia are somewhat bemused, wondering what she talks to him about and thinking Robbo’s a loner. Jasmine notes she hasn’t been in the Bay as long as Robbo but has more friends and thinks he needs one. At the surf club, Ty gets frustrated while playing pool with Raffy. Raffy reminds him the Palmers accepted him but Ty isn’t convinced. John calls Ty over to help with some boxes. Raffy says it’s sexist that he didn’t ask her, but doesn’t actually want him to. John asks if there’s anything Ty wants to talk about and Ty says no.

Alf approaches Marilyn outside the Diner and says he heard her and John arguing before. Marilyn says she doesn’t want to stand in the way of Ty and his mother making amends but also doesn’t want to let her hurt him. Alf says Ty’s made his decision and thinks she and John need to work together. Marilyn wants to look into Ty’s mother further. Alf warns her she’d be betraying her family’s trust. Meanwhile, Tori is looking up an IVF clinic on her laptop and tells Buddy not to tell anyone.

John, Raffy and Ty arrive home with the shopping. Raffy wonders if they should have the tofu or the chicken. John finds a note from Marilyn and says he’s going to give her a call. Going outside, he calls Marilyn who is in her car: She’s on her way to see Ty’s mother. John is very unhappy that she’s gone against everyone’s wishes and warns her she could destroy Ty’s trust in them. Marilyn says she’s sorry but hangs up and keeps driving.
