Extended Summary

Jasmine and Xander are going for a run on the beach. Jasmine suggests it will help Xander with his interview nerves. They run into Dean who Jasmine introduces Xander to, saying he’s the new local paramedic. Xander stresses he hasn’t got the job yet. Jasmine suggests Dean could teach Xander to surf and Xander says he already can, just not very well. Meanwhile, Alf asks Rose to give him the ticket and let him go but Rose wants to run a check. Cash steps in, telling Alf he can go. Rose is furious, even when Cash explains Alf’s wife is seriously ill. She accuses him of having a different rule for his mates.

Ryder arrives back at the house and chats to Roo about her helping Martha, suggesting they trick Alf into eating kale and chips. She comments on his good mood and wonders if he’s met someone. He says he just feels like the bad stuff’s behind him. After Roo’s gone, he gets a text from Quinn saying she’s got the perfect opportunity. At the station, Rose tells Cash that laws are there for a reason and they are supposed to enforce them. Cash says he made a judgement call based on instinct and knowledge of the locals. Rose worries that letting her landlord off the hook looks bad. Cash claims she’ll get a feel for it but she doesn’t seem convinced.

Ryder is talking to Quinn on the phone while looking up the job on his laptop. He find a boat, the Pearl of the Sea, which has an ice rink, zip line and casino floor. He rings off when Alf suddenly comes home. Alf says Martha’s resting on the veranda and they’re going to enjoy the peace and quiet. At the garage, Theo is handing Justin tools and says he cleaned the bathroom. Ziggy checks he refilled the handwash. Theo goes to answer the phone and Justin and Ziggy ponder him trying so hard.

At the Diner, Leah tells Irene that Dimitri got a two year good behaviour bond and has to attend an anger management course. Rose comes in and Irene asks how she’s settling in. Rose says it’s only her second day and she’s still getting used to it. Irene thinks she’ll be part of the woodwork soon. At the surf club, Jasmine tries to give Xander a pep-talk. Cash turns up and Jasmine asks him about Rose. Xander senses from his response that she’s driving him crazy. Xander leaves for the interview and Jasmine tells Cash to tell her about it.

Theo makes tea for Justin and Ziggy. Justin suggests they should have a roster for it. Ziggy asks how TAFE’s going and he says it’s fine. He gets a call from a Mr. Hernandez and goes out of earshot to take it. He apologises for missing classes and asks if he can submit something late, before learning it’s a fail. Later, he is in a despondent mood as Justin tries to get him to start up a car for him. Theo suddenly says there’s something he has to do and asks Ziggy to take over. Despite Justin and Ziggy’s protests, he drives off.

At Salt, Dean points out that Ryder has served him some sort of cocktail instead of a beer. Ryder asks Dean’s advice about a job, saying that it’s on a cruise ship and his mum arranged it, but it’d mean leaving next week. He asks Dean if he should take it and Dean points out he doesn’t know what the job is. Meanwhile. Xander finds Rose outside the caravan. She complains that nothing happens around there and when it does she isn’t allowed to do her job. She worries she won’t fit in. Xander thinks he smashed the interview but Rose isn’t very enthusiastic.

Ryder explains to Dean that he’d start as a mixologist but there’s plenty of opportunities to move around and he could train as a croupier. Babbling somewhat, he worries that he might get seasick and he couldn’t just walk off the ship in the middle of the ocean if he doesn’t like it. Dean tells him if he’s scared then it’s probably something he should do…then asks for his beer. At the Diner, Justin is telling Leah about Theo’s sudden mood change. They wonder if Dimitri called him. She sends him to get his engine parts, saying she’ll call Theo. Jasmine turns up and finds Rose, who is rather standoffish. With Irene chiming in, Jasmine urges Rose to give living there a chance.

Ryder finds Theo outside the surf club. Theo tells him he forgot to hand in his first TAFE assignment. Ryder suggests he appeal and get a mark but Theo thinks he’d just stuff up again. Ryder invites him up for a drink but he declines. Meanwhile, Rose brings Cash a coffee and says she owes him an apology. She asks if there’s any paperwork he needs doing. He tells her there’s some archiving and she agrees with jokey enthusiasm.

Leah gets off the phone with Cassandra and tells Justin she hasn’t heard from Theo. Justin is worried about him disappearing off again. Leah hopes he’ll trust them. Irene finds Jasmine looking for rentals for Xander and Rose and warns her she can’t make decisions for them. At the surf club, Ziggy finds Theo playing pool and tells him Justin’s worried. He tells her he failed his first assignment and says he’s just going to drop out.

Rose finds Xander outside the caravan and he notes she’s either quit her job or won a million bucks. Rose says Cash and the others are taking her out for welcome drinks. Xander gets a phone call but doesn’t seem too pleased about it. He goes to meet Jasmine at Salt and finds she has champagne waiting after he told her the interviews went great. Xander tells her he didn’t get the job.
