Mackenzie gets an offer she can’t refuse. Alf and Roo battle over Martha’s care. Can Rose handle small town policing?

Extended Summary

Mackenzie and Felicity go out onto the balcony. Felicity still doesn’t like the idea: They don’t know PK and he hasn’t been vetted. Mackenzie argues that Nathan has vouched for him. Felicity says he could be a criminal or an undercover cop. Mackenzie explains that he’s tripled his buy-in and says she’ll cut someone if Felicity won’t. At the caravan park house, Alf checks Martha is okay. Martha says she’s fine now and if Alf wants to do something for her then he should apologise to Roo. Roo arrives back with a blanket for Martha. Alf calls her outside and says he want to apologise for what he said. He agrees to back off and let her help Martha but warns her he’lll be keeping an eye on her. Roo says at some point he’ll have to trust her.

Cash pulls up to the caravan park in his police car, greeting a local. Rose emerges from her van in uniform for her first day. Alf, passing by, notes he didn’t know she was a copper. Rose, perhaps not entirely joking, says he’d better stay on the straight and narrow. She says her old boss let her drive and Cash throws her the keys. At the police station, he shows her around. Rose wants to get out and take the lay of the land. Cash says she’ll be sharing a desk with Constable Murray. Rose tries to bin a bowl until Cash says Murray’s niece made it for him. He gives her some paperwork, saying they’re on desk duty for today unless something comes up.

At the surf club, Dean asks Tane about Mia. Tane says she’s on a plane to New Zealand and adds that she knew Dean was there for her. Felicity appears and waits until Dean’s out of earshot before telling Tane that Mackenzie’s doing her head in. At the Diner, Alf tells Justin he’s got a leak from his front tyre. Justin says to bring it in in the morning. Alf orders a drink from Marilyn, then Roo comes in and does the same. Alf is furious that she’s left Martha alone, despite Roo protesting that she’s having a nap, and storms out. Roo comments to Marilyn that Alf’s never going to listen to her.

Rose finishes her paperwork and Cash suggests that could be it until the lunch run. Rose answers a call from a Mrs Patrick reporting a disturbance. Cash asks whether it was a noise in the shed or loitering teenager (the former) and explains she’s an old lady who rings every week wanting company. Rose sits down again but Cash says they’re actually going to check on her. At the Diner, Marilyn provides Roo with an organnic salad for Martha and she suggests Marilyn bring a pie home for Alf. She leaves as Cash and Rose come in; Cash has ordered a slice of cake for Mrs Patrick. Rose says the junior officer pays but Cash says they don’t do that here and pays himself. Rose looks put out.

Mackenzie is finishing a phone call as Felicity and Tane arrive at Salt. She has convinced a player to drop out by offering free meals. Felicity still isn’t keen, while Ryder is confused. Felicity suggests to Tane that he doesn’t come but Tane doesn’t want to leave her on her own. He suggests she run a check on PK anyway. Later, Dean sees Justin arrive at the surf club to find Salt shut up, complaining he wanted pizza. Ryder says it’s an eighteenth birthday party. Justin wonders about Tane being allowed up. Ryder says he’s the bouncer. Ryder is keen to see PK at work.

Tane and Felicity head up to Salt where Mackenzie introduces them to PK. Nathan tries to place a bet that PK will win. Felicity tells Mackenzie about her asking around: PK’s new to the scene and just shows up, wins and leaves. Mackenzie thinks that means there’s nothing wrong but Felicity is worried there’s something odd. The games start and Tane looks a bit disgruntled (and gets a drink from a raptured Ryder) as PK wins hand after hand. At the police station, Rose makes a paper plane and throws it at Cash: It reads “I’m bored.” Cash throws it back, having written “Join the club” on it.

PK joins Mackenzie at the bar and comments that he hears she’s been asking around about him. Mackenzie says she runs checks on all the players. PK suggests an exclusive poker night: One table, ten players. Mackenzie doesn’t think there’s any money in it. PK whispers that there’d be a $5000 buy-in from each player. Next morning, Tane tells Felicity that Mia texted and seems happy. She asks what he thought of PK. Ryder and Mackenzie appear and Ryder heads off, answering a call from Quinn. Mackenzie tells Felicity about PK’s offer, saying it could earn them $50,000 and clear her debts. Felicity is clearly worried but willing to stand by her.

Rose arrives at the police station and wonders if there’s any unpaid fines or stray cats. Cash tells her they’re on patrol. At the garage, Alf complains to Justin about how gung-ho Roo is. He gets a phone call from Martha and realises he’s late picking her up from dialysis. He asks Justin how much he owes him and Justin says to just catch him some fish some time.

Cash and Rose have set up a speed trap but all the cars are doing 38 or 40 in a 50 zone. She tells him about how her previous station was at the heart of the city. Cash says they’re taking bets on when she’ll make detective and adds he’s happy in uniform. Rose clocks a car doing 56-58 and Cash indicates for them to stop: It’s Alf.
