Extended Summary

Ziggy catches up to Theo and tries to convince him to change his mind about dropping out and to talk to Justin. She says sooner or later TAFE will tell Justin but Theo says he’ll deal with that when it happens and walks off. John has been watching and asks Ziggy if Theo’s okay. Ziggy hopes so. Up in Salt, Jasmine notes the champagne was jumping the gun. Xander says it was welcome but is despondent about not getting the job and thinks he’ll have to leave. He isn’t looking forward to telling Rose. Jasmine suggests they can find him another job.

John arrives at the Morgan house looking for Theo and tells Justin and Leah that he looked upset before. Theo comes in but dismisses walking out on his shift as not feeling well and offers to cook, inviting John to stay as well. At the surf club, Dean suggests to Ziggy that Theo just doesn’t want to be a mechanic. Jasmine comes downstairs with Xander and recalls the Medical Response Unit that used to run out of Reefton Lakes, saying she knows someone that used to work there.

Jasmine and Xander arrive at the Diner where Logan is waiting. Xander worries that he once mistook Logan for a nurse and Jasmine pointedly says that would be a compliment. No sooner have they joined Logan then Irene comes over and notes Xander will be starting his new job soon. Xander says he didn’t get it and Jasmine says he was a really close second choice. Logan guesses that’s why he’s there. Later, Logan thanks them for dinner and says he’ll ask the crew at Reefton Lakes about jobs. Jasmine asks when he’ll do it and Logan asks if first thing tomorrow will be all right. Jasmine gets a text saying Cash is home and doubts Rose drowned him in tequila as Xander suggests. After she’s gone, Logan wonders why she’s so keen for Xander to get a job. Xander says it’s a long story and offers to buy him a beer.

Dean and Ziggy arrive home. Ziggy wonders if she should call Justin abou Theo, worrying about his lack of self-esteem. Dean says it’s hard to think you’re worth something when you’ve always been told you’re not. Ziggy notes she forgets how lucky she is to have supportive parents. At the Morgan house, Theo finishes the washing up and says he’ll take the scraps out to Buddy. Justin, Leah and John wonder about him cooking and cleaning and inviting John. Theo hears Justin saying it’s a shame he won’t talk to them.

Leah and Justin go to bed with Leah wondering if she should talk to Theo. Justin thinks he won’t want to burden her and promises to get to the bottom of it. At the same time, Theo is binning his textbooks. At the farm house, Ziggy is digging out her old assignments. She tells Dean that she’s going to tutor Theo. Dean is somewhat confused, since he already has Justin as a supervisor and that would mean Justin’s just signing off things. He also worries that Ziggy isn’t the most patient teacher. Ziggy insists she’ll manage it this time.

At Salt, Xander asks Logan about leaving the Medical Response Unit. Logan says he could have gone down the coast with them but stayed for a girl, which he suggests is what Xander’s doing. Xander admits he didn’t know about Jasmine until a couple of weeks ago and she didn’t know about him and Rose. He needs the job so Jasmine knows he’s serious about being in her life. Next morning, Justin tries to talk to Theo but he still isn’t very forthcoming and says he has stuff to do. Ziggy arrives and says she has stuff to do with Theo, which he quickly agrees with. Justin says he’ll see them later. Ziggy tells Theo her mentoring plan and suggests they complete the assignment he was meant to do.

At the coffee cart, Irene and Jasmine talk about Xander not getting the job. Jasmine is convinced Logan will sort something. She sees Logan and asks how it went. Logan says there’s nothing at Reefton Lakes but he gave them Xander’s details. Jasmine is convinced something will come up. At the surf club, Leah wryly chides Justin for his lack of success with Theo. Logan turns up and says he needs his car serviced but needs to arrange a hire car first. Justin says if Logan brings the car round, he can arrange a car for him. John asks Leah and Justin about Theo.

Theo arrives at the farm house and finds Ziggy’s assignments laid out. He asks if she’s trying to prove she’s smarter than him and she says she just wanted to show him she knows what she’s doing. Dean listens from the doorway as she tells Theo her apprenticeship changed her life. He calls Ziggy over and asks if she wants him to hang around. Ziggy thinks Theo will do better without an audience. Meanwhile, Jasmine finds Xander on the beach. He has already spoken to Logan; Rose is still asleep, having stayed out longer than Cash. Jasmine decides they should go to Reefton Lakes so the ambulance crew can meet him.

Theo is trying to do his assignment but doesn’t know the mechanical process, leaving Ziggy frustrated. She says she’s trying to help him but Theo says it’s not what he wants and walks out. Dean sees him down by the beach in a frustrated mood and asks what happened. Theo says it’s over. Dean says Ziggy was up half the night prepping and that he thought he was a hopeless case once too but Ziggy convinced him to aim higher.

Jasmine and Xander are driving. Jasmine says to let her do the talking, since Xander can be quiet. Xander says that’s because he has two sisters who won’t let him get a word in. They come across a crash involving two cars, both of which have steam coming out of them. Jasmine calls for an ambulance as they check the cars; Logan is in one of them. Xander finds a young womn, Millie, in the other one. She comes round and he tells her help’s on its way.
