Extended Summary

Ziggy and Mackenzie have just gone for a surf on the beach. Ziggy is rather bemused that Mackenzie is living with Logan. They see Logan and Dean nearby. Mackenzie suggests they’ve having one of their sessions, then hastily covers, saying she encouraged them to get to know each other and adding that Logan will be back at work soon. Outside the surf club, Nikau brings John a sandwich as an olive branch. John says he thought he was doing the right thing but has obviously let Nikau down. Nikau says he overreacted and had problems at home. They agree to be mates again. John asks what’s going on at home and Nikau tells him not to push it.

At the beach house, Jasmine tells Cash he had to do something. Cash thought he and Felicity would have a big moment when she accepted the truth. Jasmine suggests he has one with her, then realises that’s not helpful. She asks what he wanted to do when it happened and Cash says he wanted to be on his own. Jasmine suggests Felicity might need the same. Meanwhile, Ziggy and Mackenzie arrive at Salt and find Dean. Ziggy asks where Logan is and Mackenzie clues Dean in on what she said. Ziggy jokes Logan might want to move in with him and Mackenzie retorts Ziggy moved Dean in a minute after getting back together. Ziggy leaves and Mackenzie asks Dean why he doesn’t want her to know about learning to surf. Dean says he doesn’t want to get her hopes up.

At the Diner, Justin and Ziggy are making plans for jobs tomorrow. Ziggy says she can source some vintage car parts. Justin gets a text and happily announces Brody and Simone have had a baby boy. Ziggy says she didn’t even know they were expecting. Justin shows Irene the photo, saying they’ve named him Mason. Ziggy excuses herself and Irene chides Justin, reminding him Ziggy was married to Brody. Justin follows Ziggy onto the pier and apologises for putting his foot in it. Ziggy says he’s allowed to be happy about being an uncle again. Justin offers her a chance to vent and Ziggy says Simone ruined her marriage before stopping herself, saying she’s happy with Dean. Justin gives her the day off.

Bella arrives home to be greeted by a naked Logan coming out of a bedroom. He goes to get dressed and she wonders where her tripod is. Logan says he was cleaning and left it outside her room. Bella finds the fridge fully stocked for the first time and wonders if Mackenzie went shopping. Logan says he did. Bella sarcastically tells him to make himself at home and Logan says he is doing. The penny drops for Bella that he’s living there and for Logan that she doesn’t know. Bella goes to confront Mackenzie at Salt, saying Mackenzie should have asked her. She says she’s fed up of all the people living there and liked it just being the two of them. Mackenzie counters that she’s always at Nikau’s. She says she pays for everything and Logan living there will help with the rent.

Bella goes downstairs and asks Dean for payment to help him. She thinks she’ll have a say in Logan living there if she pays rent. Dean is unsympathetic. Bella says since Dean’s name is on the lease he could kick Logan out. Logan appears and offers to cook a lamb roast for them all that night. Ziggy also arrives and kisses Dean, offering to help him. Logan heads upstairs to chat to Mackenzie, asking about the situation with Bella. Mackenzie notes that Bella’s like a sister to Dean so she is to her too. Logan wonders if Bella’s dangerous, Mackenzie says she just has sharp edges.

Irene serves Cash and Jasmine coffees at the Diner and Jasmine convinces Cash to stay and eat. Cash promises that he’s not going to look for Felicity. Later, Jasmine goes back over to Irene and says she wishes she could help. Felicity comes in and Cash calls out to her. Felicity nearly leaves but Jasmine stops her and suggests she might cope better with Cash’s help. Jasmine leaves, with Felicity still not having moved from the counter.

Dean thinks Ziggy’s bored and she decides to go for a surf. Bella approaches John and Nikau (now in uniform) and asks John how he’d feel if someone moved in with him unannounced (adding it’s not an offer). John says he’d like the company. Bella gives John an invoice for the work she’s done and an advance. John isn’t keen on paying for work she hasn’t done and Bella makes a speech about needing money for independence. Later, Nikau pulls up outside the surf club in the Polaris with John as a nervous passenger. John gives Bella her payment and she declares she now has bargaining power.

Bella enters the flat, announcing they need to talk. She gives Mackenzie the money but Mackenzie continues to insist Logan stays. She suggests a roster for the living area and clean-up. Bella adds that they have to have separate shopping and no shared meals. Logan is bewildered but Bella agrees to a probationary period. Down in the Diner, Irene serves Cash and Felicity. Felicity tells Cash she understands what happened with their dad but isn’t okay with Cash hurting her or what their dad did. She says she needs to come to terms with it in her own way.

Cash goes round to see Jasmine and tells her they’ve made progress: Felicity isn’t in denial anymore, just seething. He notes at least they talked this time. Meanwhile, Dean and Ziggy are on the balcony at Salt. Ziggy is in a despondent mood, saying they always eat there. She tells him about Brody having a baby. Dean, bemused, asks if she wants a kid as well. Ziggy says the relationship was meant to collapse and instead Brody got the fairy tale ending. She says it feels like everyone’s moving on except them.

Mackenzie is clearing the plates away and tells Logan she likes living together. Logan announces he thinks he should move out, but before he can go much further, he gets a page from work calling him in for an emergency. He says they’ll talk later and heads off, leaving Mackenzie frustrated.
