Extended Summary

Bree and Remi are walking on the beach, with him talking about what a hard taskmaster his physiotherapist is. Bree reveals that she had her first support group meeting today but didn’t really say anything. Remi says it’ll come in time. They head off for a coffee after seeing Rose and Mali further up the beach. Mali is giving Rose surfing directions, getting her to “paddle” and then jump up onto the board, which she does in a less than smooth manner. Rose complains about not getting out in the water. Mali says not until her teacher says so. He gets another text but tells Rose it can wait.

Back at the Morgan house, Kirby tells Theo she can’t rehearse tomorrow because she has a shift at the Diner. Ava comes over, saying she’s done all the work she can on her assignment. She suggests they go down the beach. Theo reminds her Justin will be back with the food soon and tells her to clear her stuff off the table. After she’s left the room, Kirby warns Theo that Ava’s crush is getting out of hand and he needs to set her straight. Theo thinks it would be too embarassing for both of them to talk about it and says she’s just a kid. Ava listens from the doorway.

Irene serves Justin at the Diner and asks about Ava. Justin admits she’s playing him a bit. Bree and Remi come in and take a table. Bree admits that listening to some of the stories at the support group was difficult. Meanwhile, Ava watches Theo strumming his guitar. Kirby asks him about finding a gig to go to tonight. Avar eveals that Shark Alley are playing at Reefton Lakes Back Lane Bar tonight. Theo and Kirby quickly accept the suggestion and decide to go to Salt first. Ava assumes she’s going with them but Kirby reminds her it’s an over-18s venue. Theo suggests she stay and spend time with Justin.

Bree admits to Remi that she felt like a fraud compared to the other women: She has a job, money of her own and no kids to worry about. Remi tells her not to minimise what she went through. Xander comes in and Irene asks him about his surfing. He says Rose hijacked the session. Bree asks if he’s home tonight, saying she’ll cook dinner and asking Remi to join them.

Theo and Kirby prepare to head out, with Kirby going home to get changed. Justin arrives back and asks them to look at the venue fees while they’re there. Ava asks Justin if they can go to Salt as well, saying they can have the food he bought another night. Justin refuses, suggesting they play on the Playstation instead. Later, Justin is on the phone, apparently to Leah, about getting home on an earlier flight. Ava comes through in a rather revealing dress and tres to leave the house but Justin refuses to let her go.

At the surf club, Rose says surfing isn’t so difficult. Mali points out she didn’t even go in the water and Rose points out she asked to. She gets a text from Bree about dinner and suggests Mali come with her, asking about his text messages. Mali just says he’s in high demand and suggests they go back to his and chill out by the fire pit instead.

Kirby rejoins Theo after getting ready. They discuss getting to spend time on their own for once, since Remi and Eden are both busy. Theo wonders if Kirby is also thinking about Ava, recalling how annoyed she looked at being left behind. Kirby quips that Theo broke her heart. At the Morgan house, Ava insists Justin can’t stop her leaving. Justin takes her phone, saying she doesn’t pay the bill anyway, and tells her to go to her room, get changed and come back for dinner. Ava accuses him of trying to control her and says it’s too late to be there for her now.

At the Diner flat, Xander talks to Bree and Remi about adding more seasoning to the food. Bree says she’s trying a new recipe, which leaves everyone looking worried. She says she’ll pour the wine and gives the cooking over to Xander. He says she can only cook spag bol with sauce out of a can. Bree says if she can finish a medical degree, she can follow a recipe: She just chooses not to cook.

At the caravan park, Mali is cooking sausages while Rose banters about surfing again. Mali steps away to take a phone call, saying he’ll call back later. Rose wonders about the messages he’s been getting all day, asking if there’s another woman she doesn’t know about. Mali shows her his phone and explains the texts are from his sister Elandra.

Justin calls out to Ava that dinner’s ready. Getting no response, he goes to her room: It is clear from his expression that she isn’t there. Later, Theo and Kirby are enjoying a drink on the balcony at Salt and about to leave. They go to kiss when Theo is interrupted by a call from Justin wondering if Ava’s there. A moment later, Ava appears, wanting to go with them. Justin says to keep her there. Ava tries to order a frozen daiquiri from a waitress. Theo steps in, saying she’s underage, and tells her to have a juice while they wait for Justin. Ava says she thought Theo was on her side.

Mali explains to Rose that his family’s group chats are rather intense and if he doesn’t reply, he gets bombarded with texts and phone calls. He says Elandra’s like a second mum to him. Rose asks why he didn’t tell her. Mali thought it would put her off. Rose points out that she followed Xander to Summer Bay and they still live together. She jokes that Mali was probably spoilt as the baby of the family. Meanwhile, Xander, Rose and Bree have finished eating. Xander heads off to bed, leaving the other two to sort out dessert. After a brief chat, where Bree thanks Remi for his support, he decides he’d better go. They share a rather awkward farewell.

Mali is toasting something in the fire and holds it out for Rose to take a bite. Rose says she’d better go home. Mali offers to walk her and she agrees, then he adds that she could stay. They kiss and head off in the direction of his caravan. Back at Salt, Theo is paying the bill when Kirby appears. She says Ava left the bathroom before her and she hoped she’d come up there. She offers to go and look for her, but at that point Justin appears. Theo admits Ava took off again. Justin confesses he has her phone and says they have to find her.
