Stevie and Remi reunite. The Bay prepares for Tane’s trial. Cash springs into action to save a life.

Extended Summary

Alone on the beach, Tane performs a taiaha dance. At the Lyrik house, Remi tells Stevie he made a mistake. He insists he doesn’t want to be with Bree and shouldn’t have hurt Stevie. They wonder what they both want. At the Diner flat, Bree is getting cosy with Nelson but he notes he has to get to work. He wonders about Remi being with her before. Bree says they just had some things to sort out. Nelson senses there’s a story there but Bree declines to tell him. Rose interrupts them, saying she came home to change and get a coffee, and tells Bree she’s been going over Tane’s case.

Down in the Diner, Dana encourages Harper to call Tane. Harper asks Dana if she’s finishing her cake and is concerned when she says no. Roo comes and sits with them and says it must be tough having to give evidence. Rose enters and Dana calls her over. Rose says she can’t engage with witnesses. Roo suggests a little conversation can’t hurt.

At the farm house, Marshall complains that Tane should have been there half an hour ago. He says he’s met with Sonia to go over her testimony and wants to go over everything with Tane again. Tane suspects he’s worried but Marshall denies it, saying they have a good defence and he hates to lose.

Remi and Stevie are now curled up in bed. Remi notes they didn’t have that conversation about what they both want. Stevie says they found they had better things to do than talk and have all the time in the world…then realises she’s due on set in ten minutes. Remi says he’ll walk her over and Stevie says they might have to run.

Near the beach, Cash and Bree chat about hoping things work out between Remi and Stevie. Nelson wonders where Stevie is and Troy wonders why he lets her get away with so much. Remi and Stevie turn up and share a long goodbye kiss before she goes to hair and make-up. Bree notes that Remi looks happy.

Dana, Harper and Rose walk in a park area with Dana pointing out they’re technically on the same side. Rose admits that the DPP are pushing for the maximum sentence. None of them want to be responsible for Tane going to jail. Meanwhile, Cash and Stevie arrive at the surf club with Stevie noting she has Cash and Eden to thank for her chance with Remi. Cash walks aside to take a call from Rose as Bree arrives and warns Stevie to look after Remi. Remi comes in and is slightly unnerved to see them talking. Cash asks if Stevie needs him for the evening since Rose has asked him to talk to Harper and Dana. Stevie lets him go.

Tane asks Marshall how long he’s likely to get. Marshall suggests focusing on the first day and admits he was hoping Tane wouldn’t ask him the question. He says there’s hope since Tane alerted the authorities, was caring towards the baby, was under pressure at the time of the AVO and had Harper’s support as a social worker. However, he admits Tane could get fifteen years.

Remi and Stevie have returned to the Lyrik house. Remi asks about Bree and Stevie says they were talking about him. She wonders if people come into your life for a reason, saying if it hadn’t been for her stalker, she wouldn’t have come to the Bay and met him.

Marshall leaves Tane, saying he can call him whenever he has a problem and that Sonia’s forgiveness will influence the judge. Tane gets a text from Harper, then looks through a box and picks out a photo of him with his brothers and Nikau. At Salt, Nelson and Bree discuss the day’s filming. Nelson says tomorrow will give Stevie a real chance to shine: The scene where her character discovers her boyfriend has been lying to her but forgives him. They discuss soul mates. Bree says she believes in them but there’s a lot of fun to be had in the meantime. Nearby, Cash takes over from Rose sitting with Harper and Dana. Dana is worried about panicking on the stand and Cash tries to reassure her. Harper says she’s seen magistrates have a go at witnesses. Cash says he’s known witnesses try to claim they’ve forgotten: They get one warning, then they’re in contempt of court.

Downstairs, Alf and Roo chat to Rose about the trial: They’re planning to go over and see Tane. After Rose has left, Tane appears. They wish him luck and Roo says she wants to go to court to support him but Tane asks her not to. Alf tells her they can’t force their help on him. Meanwhile, Remi and Stevie are in bed again. Remi says the look Stevie gave the guy she worked with shows she cares about him. Stevie says that was the character, not her, and promises she’s not playing a role with him. Remi says he’d like to find out where this is going and Stevie says he might be her boyfriend after all.

Cash meets Tane in the gym. Tane says he’s putting his affairs in order and is going to sign the gym over to Felicity so she’ll be looked after. Cash says Felicity wants to go to court to support him but Tane asks him to tell her not to, saying he doesn’t want to put her through that. Next morning, Cash is giving Harper and Dana a last pep-talk at Salt before they go to meet the prosecutor. He gets a call from the security firm and protests that that’s impossible since Wickham’s on remand until the next court date, before asking when this happened. He rushes out.

Down on the beach, Stevie and Troy are performing their scene with her character challenging him over his lies. Cash races towards them, checking a guy with a hoodie. Someone aims a gun at first Cash and then Stevie. Cash calls out to her just before the gun fires and she collapses in his arms. Cash cries out that she’s been shot and Nelson calls an ambulance as Cash cradles her.
