Extended Summary

Stevie arrives at the film set with Cash in tow. Nelson notes that his first AD’s sick, there was a tense volleyball game and the lead actor’s threatening to shave his hair off unless they change a line. Cash thinks it sounds disastrous but Stevie admits it’s pretty standard. Nelson adds that there’s been a change to the schedule and a new call sheet but wants Stevie in hair and make-up. Cash offers to get the call sheet. Eden turns up looking upset and says it’s Levi. Cash takes her aside.

Levi has returned to the coffee cart where Marilyn comments on being able to serve him this time and his argument with Eden. Bree turns up while they’re chatting and Marilyn asks her about Nelson. Bree asks Levi if he wants some company with his coffee. Levi checks she’s all right to be seen with him and she says she’ll risk it.

Cash and Eden have gone to the surf club to talk. Eden explains about Levi resigning and telling her to just get over it. Cash cautiously asks if he may have a point. Eden warns him his life depends on his next words. Cash notes that staying angry isn’t helping her. Eden says she can’t just change her feelings like a tap. Cash grabs Stevie’s schedule from a passing crewmember, Jess, and Eden agrees to let him go.

Down on the beach, Remi is watching Stevie, who is waiting to shoot her scene. Theo realises she’s the reason he’s there. He notes that the odds of a famous actress giving Remi a second chance are pretty slim but he has nothing to lose. Theo gets a text and leaves. Remi sneaks over and asks to speak to Stevie. Stevie asks Cash to get rid of him.

Justin and Theo barrel into the Diner and tell Leah and Marilyn that Theo has passed his apprenticeship. They congratulate him and Theo comments on earning more money with Justin adding it means extra responsibility. He proudly calls the garage a family-run business before asking if Leah can take a break. Marilyn agrees.

Down on the beach, Levi has told Bree about quitting his job at St. Christopher’s. He indicates that it’s partly down to Mackenzie but also because he was working with his ex-wife. He admits he feels unsettled. Bree says she put him on a pedestal when they first met but now knows he’s only human. Levi asks her about Nelson.

Further along, Stevie complains to Nelson that her character is too passive in the scene. Nelson says she’s a strong independent woman and it’s her sliding doors moment, which she doesn’t find too helpful. Cash tries to keep Remi back but Stevie gives in and lets him speak to her. Remi says he didn’t mean the things he said. Stevie says she doesn’t want him in her life and indicates he’s the one with too much baggage.

Shortly after, Remi arrives home and tells Eden he tried to fix things with Stevie but crashed, burned and melted to the tarmac. She says she knows that feeling. Remi picks up on the comment and she tells him Cash thinks she should back off from Levi. Remi thinks he has a point. Eden says she feels like punching Levi every time she sees him.

Bree chats to Levi about Nelson, saying there’s no pressure and it could last a lifetime or a week. Levi notes she’s always seemed uptight at work. He says he often wonders what his life would be like if he’d never come to Summer Bay: He’s hurt a lot of people he loves but Mackenzie’s worth it. Bree suggests he set up his own cardiothoracic unit there.

Near the beach, Stevie is trying to assure Nelson that the last scene went well. They explain to Cash that a guy who had a small role in the next scene broke his ankle: He had a custom-made costume so the replacement would have to fit exactly. Stevie suggests Cash but Nelson says he’s the wrong build. Justin, Leah and Theo come along with Justin loudly complaining about surfers being second class citizens. Nelson notices Justin and beckons him over, looking him over. Stevie asks how he’d like to be in a movie. Leah hurriedly accepts for him and Justin is soon being measured up.

Eden brings Remi his painkillers. She suggests he call Stevie and wonders why he reacted the way he did to Bree and Nelson. Remi says it bothered him that Bree is freer with Nelson than she was with him and that it makes him wonder if he was always wrong for her. He asks about Levi. Eden admits Cash had a point and she’s sick of arguing with him all the time.

On the beach, Justin is performing his scene with Stevie in character, saying “her” father’s waiting for her in the car and it wouldn’t be wise to ignore him. Leah cheers and applauds, prompting an exasperated cry of “Cut” from Nelson. Leah says she thought the scene was over. Theo promises Cash he’ll keep an eye on her, wondering if this is how parents feel when a kid embarrasses them. Nelson congratulates Justin and says to give it more steel on the next take. Stevie explains that’s director talk for being more assertive.

Remi goes to see Bree at her flat, saying he’s not there to argue. He apologises for his double standards but wonders about her being more happy and carefree with Nelson. Bree notes she and Remi got together in pretty terrible circumstances and Remi often went overboard trying to protect her, never seeing past the trauma. Remi says he wants her to be happy and Bree says the same about him.

At the farm house, Levi is on the phone to Mackenzie, talking about an appointment with the hospital board to set up a specialist unit at Northern Districts. He answers the door to Eden, who heard some of the conversation. She says his temper tantrum helped her realise she’s sick of being angry all the time, so she’ll back off for her own peace of mind. Levi asks where this leaves them. Eden says they’re not family anymore and civil is the best she can do.

Nelson and Stevie arrive at the surf club with him congratulating her on her performance and helping Justin. Remi and Bree arrive. Bree greets Nelson but, on seeing Stevie, Remi decides to leave. Stevie looks disappointed. Not long after, at the Newman house, Stevie complains to Cash, saying Remi acted like a lost puppy around Bree and it’s reminded her she can’t rely on anyone but Cash. Eden arrives as Stevie is complaining about unreliable, emotionally unavailable men. Eden challenges her to admit she’s more into Remi than she’d like to be. Stevie says she doesn’t give second chances. Cash asks why not.

Across the road, Remi is lying on the sofa, strumming his guitar. Stevie turns up and says she’s ready to listen, telling him to talk. Remi looks a bit scared.
