Extended Summary

Theo meets up with Justin at Salt, where Justin asks if he and the band could just use Theo’s car. Theo says there’s no way he could fit all their gear in there. Justin says he has a solution but doesn’t want to discuss it. At the Diner, Irene and Leah are welcoming Rose back. She has heard that Cash is awake but Irene warns her that Felicity said he’s not doing well. Xander arrives and asks how their mother is; Rose quips that she misses Xander so much she’s adopted a stray. Xander suggests she go with him to visit Cash. Irene thinks it’s a great idea and Rose reluctantly agrees.

Cash tells Bree he joined the police to protect people. Bree realises it’s the first time he’s shot someone and suggests he might have traumatic amnesia. Cash asks her what she knows about what happened. Bree only knows that Marty died at the scene. Meanwhile, Theo chases Justin out of the surf club. Justin says he has to check on something and Theo will know when he’s got it locked in.

Justin goes to Leah at the Diner and asks to talk to her. Leah is working but Irene tells her to take a break. After initially trying to ask how her day is, Justin asks her if she minds him using some of their savings to market the garage. Leah is fine with it. Meanwhile, Theo goes to the band’s house and finds Kirby playing the keyboard. They were meant to be having a rehearsal but Eden had to work and Remi hasn’t been seen since he met up with a girl last night. Although things are awkward, Kirby suggests they practise the song they wrote to see if they can add it to their next gig at Salt.

Xander asks Rose if she’s ready to go but she says she has things to do. She adds that she’s okay with Xander going and still feels guilty about leading Cash into an ambush. Meanwhile, Bree continues to give Cash a check-up. She says going over things isn’t good for him, which he curtly dismisses, saying he trained for years. Bree says she remembers the first person she lost, even though she did things by the book. Cash snipes to come back when she’s shot someone and refuses to see a psychologist.

Justin is making a phone call, saying to send him an invoice, but quickly hangs up when Leah appears. She suggests they go to Salt so she can talk through the marketing ideas with him. He says he’s already done most of the work and leaves quickly. Leah goes back to the Diner to Irene’s bemusement. Leah is suspicious about how secretive Justin is being. Irene suggests he might think he has something to prove but Leah thinks he’s up to something.

Xander tries to say that Rose avoiding Cash won’t make her feel better. He asks what to tell him when he asks where she is. Rose suggests saying she’s working but Xander doesn’t want to lie to him and says the old her would never bail on a friend. They go to the hospital together where Bree notes Cash has been asking for Rose. Xander is worried and says Rose doesn’t have to come in but she decides to. They go in to see Cash, with Rose noting he’s looking better.

Theo and Kirby continue to work on a song but they’re having trouble making it work. Kirby suggests that love songs aren’t their thing so they should work on some other sort of relationship. Theo notes friendship is the obvious one. They get a call from Justin and meet him outside the surf club, where he says he’s bought them a van. Theo and Kirby hug each other in delight then look awkward. Justin shows them a picture of it, saying they can do it up.

Xander chats to Cash about Rose visiting their mum but Cash cuts him short, saying to give them a few minutes. Rose agrees and Xander leaves. Cash explains he doesn’t remember anything except going after Marty. Rose says Marty was the one in charge and they heard him talking to Tane on the wire. Cash desperately asks her for details, saying no-one else knows what happened. Rose protests that she didn’t see it.

Kirby says she’s going to call Remi and Eden. Theo thanks Justin, who says Theo has done well by managing to balance the band and TAFE. He adds that it’s a good marketing tool for the garage but answers a call before he can explain the comment. At the Diner, Leah tells Irene that Justin isn’t answering her calls. Theo and Kirby come in, discussing rebooking the gigs, and tell Leah about Justin buying the van.

Rose meets up with Xander and says Cash has a lot of questions but she would have too. Xander suggests she can go home and he’ll say she had to go somewhere. She reminds him he said not to lie but agrees to take a break. Bree looks after Xander with concern. Xander goes to see Cash and says Rose went to the bathroom. Cash is convinced she’s hiding something.

Leah tracks down Justin and asks why he didn’t tell her. Justin says he sort of did, since he intends for the van to have a sponsorship sign for Summer Bay Auto on it, and is just trying to help Theo live his dream. Leah thinks there’s more to it than that. At the hospital, Xander tells Cash that Tex and his mates are on remand. Rose comes in and confirms they caught them all. Cash still thinks she’s hiding someone, asking if someone else was hurt or he did something wrong, and aggressively demands she remember something. Rose, upset, asks him if he wants her to say she held him in her arms and thought he was going to die. She rushes out as Cash frantically tries to pursue her, listening in tears as Xander and Bree restrain him.
