Justin and Theo have just finished a surf and run into Kirby. She says she’s been busy writing and she and Theo exchange banter about how good her new song is before lapsing into an awkward silence. Kirby heads down the beach. Justin asks Theo if they have any gigs coming up and Theo admits he doesn’t know. Justin suggests he finds out. Theo and Kirby exchange fond but awkward looks.
Tane joins Nikau in his room. Nikau says the committee want him sacked and the council won’t keep him on against their wishes. He feels bad that John fought hard for him to get the job and he’s screwed it up. Tane promises to figure something out.
Felicity and Eden hurry into the hospital. They find Cash awake and Felicity rushes to hug him. Bree says he’s doing well. Eden says it’s good to see him then waits outside. Cash realises that Jasmine didn’t come back. Later, Felicity meets Eden in the corridor. Felicity isn’t sure what to expect. Eden assures her Cash is awake and doing fine, before heading off to work.
Theo arrives at the band’s house and steels himself before knocking. Kirby lets him in and offers him a wine. Theo wonders if the others are out the back and Kirby says it’s just the two of them, which they’re both fine with. Theo asks if they have any gigs lined up. Kirby admits they had to cancel all their non-Salt gigs because Remi lost all their money, so they can’t afford to hire a van.
Tane goes to see John at the surf club and tries to plead Nikau’s case. John says he’s done his best for him but the committee have a point that he’s a known associate of a bikie gang involved in the shooting of a police officer and Tane’s promises that Nikau didn’t do anything aren’t enough to get him over the line.
Felicity is tending to Cash but he wants to know what happened. She says Rose hasn’t told her all the details and jogs his memory about the police raid. Cash recalls chasing after someone but can’t remember what happened next, asking if that was who shot him and if they caught him. Felicity admits his name was Marty and he didn’t make it. Cash realises he killed him.
Kirby reminisces to Theo about the big festivals they’ve played but says she prefers the small intimate gigs. Eden comes home and Theo quickly leaves. Kirby says Remi has gone into Yabbie Creek to do busking. Eden tells her about visiting Cash in hospital and supporting Felicity. Kirby suggests she’s growing up.
Theo joins Justin at the Diner; Leah has gone for a girls’ night out with Marilyn and Roo. He tells him about the situation with the gigs and how Ziggy and Remi’s miadventure lost all their money. Back at the hospital, Cash presses Felicity for details, saying he doesn’t even remember drawing his pistol. He tells her to get Rose and doesn’t seem to believe her when she says Rose is visiting her mum. Bree comes in to calm Cash and convinces Felicity to go home.
Tane apologises to Nikau that things didn’t go better with John but says he isn’t giving up. Nikau thinks the only bright point is that they’re not being run out of town this time. Felicity turns up, upset about how Cash was acting. Nikau gives her and Tane space as Tane tries to get her to look on the bright side. They discuss the fact they can’t tell anyone the truth.
Next morning, John is on the phone to Alf outside the surf club, promising to carry out the committee’s decision even if he doesn’t agree with it. Tane arrives and tells him that Nikau was only at the hideout because he was looking out for him and if they want to make an example of anyone, it should be him. John warns him that there could be consequences but Tane is willing to accept that.
Kirby finds Eden counting the money from Remi’s busking: It’s around $100 but not enough to buy a van, although they’re hoping it’ll cover food and rent. Kirby doubts they can survive on just a gig at Salt every two weeks. Meanwhile, Nikau meets up with Theo near the beach. He explains about losing his job and Theo wonders if this trouble was the reason why Chloe left. Nikau says Bella isn’t coming back either. John approaches and tells Nikau that he’s spoken to the committee and Nikau still has a job.
Felicity talks to Tane about going back to see Cash, saying she’s worried about what he’ll be like. She heads off as Nikau comes back, wondering what Tane said to John. Tane says he told the truth, that Nikau came there looking for him. Nikau worries that Tane taking the blame will come back to bite him. Tane says it’s his mess. Nikau reminds him it was Ari and Mia’s.
Felicity arrives at the hospital with some fresh clothes and toiletries for Cash and says she’s charged his phone. Cash says it’s not a holiday and asks if she’s spoken to Rose, saying he can’t do this. Bree calls Felicity outside. Felicity says Cash isn’t normally like this. Bree suggests giving him space. Felicity says a quick farewell to Cash.
Irene chats to John outside the surf club about Nikau. Felicity appears and they discuss Cash. Felicity admits she’s still really worried about him and breaks down in tears. Irene comforts her. Back at the hospital, Bree talks to Cash who says he’s not sure how he can live with the fact he killed someone.
