Extended Summary

Felicity is standing on the beach, staring out to sea. Eden comes up and comments on not having seen her for a while, guessing she’s been at the hospital. Felicity notes they kicked her out. She thanks Eden for her messages and for helping out at Salt, saying she meant to get back to her. Eden invites her for a drink. Meanwhile, Irene turns up at the Diner, having also spent most her time at the hospital lately, and talks to Marilyn about how Felicity’s handling it and how she only left when the doctors needed to run tests. She declines an offer from Marilyn to cover her shift and they chat about how the Paratas got mixed up in it.

Felicity has gone back to Eden’s place and worries that she doesn’t know when Cash is going to wake up. Eden tries to reassure her. Felicity examines the new house and also comments on Eden wearing the Salt uniform. Eden suggests personalising it by tying her top in a knot but Felicity says Mackenzie would never go for it. Meanwhile, Roo is chatting to John at the surf club, explaining about how Gerald has been getting onto Alf about the newspaper article. John thinks they should wait to have the facts but Roo says Alf wants him to call an extraordinary meeting.

Nikau and Tane take a first look at the beach with Rose. Nikau wonders if Tex and his mates will be suspicious that they got bail. Rose says it’s down to them having no prior convictions but can’t give them a trial date: It could be weeks or months. Rose tells them about the newspaper and Nikau says they’ll just say it’s no-one’s business.

Outside the surf club, they are reunited with Felicity and Eden, with Tane assuring Felicity they’re safe. Roo comes past, saying they’ve caused a stir. Eden heads up to Salt. John arrives and tells Nikau about the committee meeting, saying Nikau was representing the surf club. Nikau sarcastically thanks Rose.

Nikau takes refuge on the Salt balcony. Tane and Felicity join him and say they’ve ordered some food. Nikau is upset that Roo and John think they did it. Eden appears with the drinks and makes a joke about prison moonshine that has Nikau walking off. He heads downstairs and talks to John, saying he hasn’t done anything. John agrees to talk to the committee but doesn’t hold out much hope.

At the Diner, Roo tells Irene and Marilyn she’s going to meet someone who heard about her through uni. She leaves as John arrives and admits he doesn’t think the committee have any option but to get rid of Nikau. He blames Tane for getting him involved. Rose, who has been sat nearby throughout, snaps at John to leave it to the police and stop judging people before storming out. John thinks it was uncalled for. Irene thinks it wasn’t about him. Meanwhile, Tane and Felicity walk through a park area. Tane feels bad that Nikau could lose his job through trying to help him. Felicity thinks Nikau would have followed him whatever he’d said. They talk about how Cash is doing.

Irene goes to see Rose in her flat. Rose says she shouldn’t have snapped at John and has been in court all week. Irene notes that Rose hasn’t been to see Cash and suggests she take some time off and then visit him. Outside the surf club, John talks to Nikau about the meeting, saying he’ll highlight his record and bravery awartd but the committee are going to vote on whether or not to dismiss him. Nikau argues that the council pay him so he could appeal to them. John says to wait and see what happens. Eden appears as John leaves and apologises to Nikau, saying she’s given the committee free pizzas to get them in a good mood and suggesting they go for a walk.

At the Parata house, Felicity finishes a phone call to the hospital and tells Tane there’s no change. Rose arrives and tells them she’s going away for a few days to visit her mum: Another officer will be across the case but they should call her if there’s any trouble. She asks Felicity to let her know if anything changes with Cash. At the Diner, Roo tells Marilyn that her student, Ally, burst into tears as soon as she got there so she took her for a walk and helped her work out which areas she needed to concentrate on. Roo thanks Marilyn for her encouragement.

Eden and Nikau arrive back at the surf club. Eden notes she and Remi are taking bets as to how long it takes John to make a noise complaint. Nikau thanks her for taking his mind off things. John approaches and says the committee have voted to petition the council to dismiss Nikau. Nikau can talk to the council but the committee hold a lot of sway. Later, Felicity turns up at Salt, having been called in to sort out a problem with the rosters. Eden talks to her about Nikau. Felicity gets a phone call from the hospital and says she’ll be there right away: They’re waking Cash up.

Nikau arrives home and has a go at Tane for the fact he’s lost both his job and his girlfriend because Tane wasn’t honest with him.
