Extended Summary

Xander runs into Rose near the beach. She has just been in court and comments that they talked about how she was sleeping with one of the defendants. She says Tex has been refused bail and remanded in custody. Meanwhile, Ziggy is hammering on the door of the shed and calling out for help. Remi says they’re too out of the way for anyone to hear them. Ziggy chides him for leaving his phone in her car, even though she not only left her phone but also the keys. Remi suggests they find something to prise the door open.

Back at the farm house, Dean unsuccessfully tries to call Ziggy. Mackenzie suggests she might just be out of range or charge and insists Remi’s not a bad guy, pointing out he’s friends with Felicity. Dean still thinks he’s dodgy and borrows her car. He goes to the band’s house and knocks on the door, calling out for Remi, but doesn’t get a response. He calls Theo.

Xander has made food for himself and Rose. He asks about court and she notes Tex was furious and she’s supposed to be good at reading people. She confirms she’s back in court tomorrow to give her statement about Nikau and Tane. Xander wonders if they’ll go to jail too and Rose says it’s up to the magistrate. Xander says Bree told him Cash is stable and suggests she go and sit with him. Rose suddenly decides she’s not as hungry as she thought and goes back to her room.

Dean arrives home and tells Mackenzie he drove round looking for Ziggy’s car. He got Remi’s number off Theo but didn’t get an answer. He is also unhappy Ziggy lied to him. Mackenzie suggests they look at Ziggy’s search history to find the adverts she looked at and then contact the sellers to see if she’s been there. Dean puts in the password on Ziggy’s laptop (which turns out to be 1234) and they start noting down numbers.

In the garage, Ziggy continues trying to prise the door open. She gets Remi to help her but they just manage to break what they’re using. Remi tries to convince her people will come looking for them. Ziggy says they didn’t tell anyone where they were going, not even Dean. Remi searches his pockets for food or water but only finds guitar picks, joking they can dig themselves out. He offers to hug her for warmth but she retreats to the other side of the garage, saying she’ll put up with any snakes she finds there. Remi settles on a blanket on his side and drapes his shirt around Ziggy.

Dean and Mackenzie both end phone calls, getting no news about Ziggy: They spoke to her but haven’t seen her today. Dean worries that Ziggy might have run off the road and Mackenzie accepts something isn’t right. Dean doesn’t want to call the police yet. He recalls that Carl didn’t answer and tries him again without success. Mackenzie says they’ll call the police in the morning.

Xander finds Rose on the balcony. She says she’s just getting her notes straight for tomorrow. She confides in him that Tane was working with her and was wearing a wire when he went to the bikies’ hideout and that Nikau followed him into it. She explains they’ll be protected in court but Tex could order a hit from prison if he found out. Meanwhile, Mackenzie finds Dean still up. He explains that it occurred to him to check Ziggy’s e-mails and find contact details.

Next morning, Marilyn greets Roo at the Diner. Roo comments on having to open up the bait shop again. She gets an e-mail from uni saying they’ll run her ad and add her to the database of tutors. Meanwhile, Ziggy is woken by the sound of a car engine and wakes Remi. They worry it might be Carl coming back but moments later Dean lets them out. He hugs Ziggy, then punches Remi in the face for not looking after her.

Mackenzie sees Dean, Ziggy and Remi pull up near the surf club. She notices Remi’s cut lip and Ziggy tells her to ask Dean about it. Dean says Remi can fill Mackenzie in, while he and Ziggy head home. Mackenzie invites Remi up to Salt. Back at the farm house, Ziggy apologises to Dean for not telling him where she was going and explains about Remi agreeing to stop winding him up if she helped. She accepts that she should have stuck to their promise to be honest.

Remi has polished off the breakfast Mackenzie made him and she lets him have it for free as compensation for Dean. Remi is worried about having to tell the band he lost their money. He asks Mackenzie if she ever thought she was getting out of a hole only to put herself and everyone else in a bigger one. Mackenzie claims not to know what he’s talking about but advises him to tell them quickly. At the Diner flat, Xander greets Rose with a mug of coffee and assures her he knows not to repeat what she told him. Rose takes a sip of the coffee and winces. Xander says he’ll get her a real one from downstairs.

Xander is downstairs when Roo asks Marilyn to keep an eye on the bait shop. Alf has asked her to check out the surf club, since John isn’t answering her calls and Gerald complained to Alf about Nikau and Tane being on the front cover of the newspaper because of the bikie arrest. Xander checks out the article. He says Rose hasn’t spoken to him about it but they don’t know the full story.

Roo goes to the surf club and finds Mackenzie outside. She says John is upstairs giving Remi a lecture on noise pollution. Roo answers a phone call from an unknown number and is pleased that it’s someone about the tutoring, asking what time’s good for them.

Rose is dressed in uniform for court. Xander comes up and shows her the article. Both of them are horrified. Rose wants to talk to people but Xander says she can’t say anything without blowing Tane’s cover and just needs to help them in court. Rose agrees.
