Extended Summary

Xander continues looking after Millie. Logan wants to get out of the car and help but Jasmine tells him to stay where he is since he might have a spinal injury. She asks him what happened but all he can think is that the cars clipped each other and then spun. Millie asks Xander about her friend Jo, who was in the car and went to get help. Xander looks around and sees a young woman lying on the ground a few yards away. At the police station, Rose is finishing a phone call about a lost cat. Cash signals for her to wind it up and tells her there’s been a two vehicle MVA.

Xander and Jasmine check Jo over and quickly determine that she’s dead from a brain injury. They go back to the other casualties. Police cars arrive, including Cash and Rose. Logan tells Jasmine his medical bag’s in the back of the car. She gets Xander a stethoscope and he checks Millie’s breathing. Outside the surf club, Theo admits Dean gave him good advice and agrees to go see Ziggy. Justin appears and asks what’s going on. Dean says Theo’s giving him a hand getting supplies for the board shop and turns down an offer to go with them.

At the Diner, a confused Justin and Leah wonder how Theo’s suddenly friends with Dean and what happened to him hanging out with Ziggy. Leah suggests they hang back and talk to him when he comes home tonight. At the farm house, Theo apologises to Ziggy for losing it with her and says he wants to make Justin proud. After he’s gone to get a drink, Dean quietly tells Ziggy that Theo isn’t the type to learn from pieces of paper and needs practical experience.

Jasmine asks Cash about the ambulance and he says it’s still another twenty minutes. Millie tells Xander they were going to the beach and asks where Jo is. Xander says she’s being looked after. He leaves her with Rose for a moment while he tells Jasmine that she has a trachial deviation and needs the air released: He’s never done it before but he’s seen it. He gets a needle to do the decompression. Later, the ambulance has arrived and the ambulance officer compliments Xander on his work. Millie asks about Jo and, looking over to where her body is now covered by a sheet, Xander says someone’s with her. The rescue service cut both Logan and Millie free.

Ziggy lays out some engine parts as Dean brings Theo back in. Ziggy says he needs practical experience to know how things fit together and not to be scared of going wrong and having to start again. Theo agrees it makes more sense this way. At the Diner, Justin finishes a phone call with John and tells Alf that Theo and Dean haven’t returned to the board shop. He tells Leah he’s going to go and see Ziggy. Leah convinces him to have lunch with her first.

Theo finishes assembling the engine parts. Justin comes to the door and Theo hastily covers things up with a sheet. Justin asks what they’re hiding and is confused when he pulls back the sheet. Ziggy says they were helping Theo with his TAFE assignment and Theo tells him about messing up. Justin is bewildered that Theo didn’t tell him, asking what he thought he’d do. Back at the Diner, he explains to Leah. He is upset that Theo went to Ziggy for help even though he was the one that gave him a chance, and that Theo wasn’t honest with him.

At the crash site, Cash tells Rose that early signs are that one of the drivers veered into the other one’s lane. Millie is being loaded into an ambulance. She again asks Xander about Jo and he says to concentrate on herself. Rose tries to convince Xander he’s done the right thing. At the hospital, Logan is trying to discharge himself, saying he just has bruising from the seatbelt. Jasmine offers to call Mackenzie. He declines but agrees to stick around for scans. The ambulance officer brings Millie in and Logan takes charge, ordering a chest drain.

Rose asks Xander what he and Jasmine were doing out there. Xander tells her about going to Reefton Lakes and not getting the job at Yabbie Creek. Rose is upset that he told Jasmine and not her. Xander says there hasn’t been a chance and asks not to do this now, since he wants to get to the hospital to see Millie. He arrives to find Logan and Jasmine treating her and learns she still doesn’t know about Jo. Logan sends her for an x-ray but then doubles up in pain and is helped into bed. Cash and Rose arrive, needing to check blood alcohol tests are being done and find out when they can interview the drivers. Xander chats to Rose, unhappy Millie hasn’t been told even though Jo’s family haven’t either. Cash tells Rose they need to go and see them.

Leah and Justin find Theo drinking at Salt. Justin tells him he’s not a stuff-up and wasn’t doing anything wrong but is upset that Theo didn’t feel able to talk to him. He asks if Theo thought he was going to hit him when he found out and walks away. Leah stops Theo going after him, saying to give him some space. Later, Leah explains Justin is upset Theo doesn’t trust him. Theo recalls Dimitri lost it when he failed his Ls and he knows his road theory now. He knows Justin isn’t like that but the feelings are hard to shake. Leah calls it muscle memory but Theo feels bad about hurting Justin.

Cash and Rose arrive back at the police station after delivering the news. Rose notes it’s not that long since a police officer told her and Xander about their dad. Cash offers her the afternoon off but she declines. At the hospital, Jasmine is giving Xander some encouragement when Millie is brought back. She asks about Jo and Xander says she didn’t make it. Millie is devastated. Logan sees Xander run past him and throw up in a bin.

Logan gets Xander a glass of water. Xander calls it an adrenaline come-down and admits he told Millie about Jo dying, saying he wanted her to hear it from someone she knew. Logan points out she doesn’t know him. Jasmine shoos Logan back to his room and tells Xander he was nice with Millie and understands it was hard after their father, laying her head on his shoulder.
