Extended Summary

Bella and Nikau walk on the pier. Bella wonders what’s changed since earlier. Nikau says he hated himself for what he did to her and thought he didn’t deserve her, but what she said about them being happy together made sense. He promises things will work out. They hug. At Salt, Ari asks Mia if she was any good at school. She says she was pretty good. Ari says he was okay but didn’t really try and it’s limited his options now. Mia says she might have done better if she hadn’t got pregnant young but what’s important is what they do now. She offers to take his mind off things. Ari cottons on to what she means and hurries to get the bill.

Ari and Mia arrive home and they are greeted by Chloe, who is just getting ingredients together. She thought they were staying in the city for another day and they explain Ari has been offered work in the morning. They have been to an adoption agency and been told the important thing is a safe environment and financial security. Ari asks where everyone is and Chloe says Tane’s out clubbing and she doesn’t know where Nikau is before leaving. Ari apologises to Mia for making things harder. At the Diner, Marilyn is leaving Ryder and Chloe to it. Chloe promises they’ll clean up and Marilyn comments that the cleanliness wasn’t the problem. Bella and Nikau come in and Chloe tells them kitchen’s shut, but they just came to let people know they’re back together. Ryder realises that Chloe got involved and doesn’t seem happy, thinking they might break up again.

Back at Salt, Alf complains about Roo and Martha spending all their time looking at their phones to monitor bids. Martha gets another alert but says she’ll look at it later. Alf starts to discuss plans for tomorrow but Roo insists Martha look at the bid now. Meanwhile, Ryder and Chloe arrive back at the Parata house, having got the orders done without having to sneak around. Ryder still isn’t convinced by Bella and Nikau’s reunion. Ari stops by the bedroom and asks after Nikau. Chloe tells him he’s back with Bella and Ari just says it’s a big step. Ryder isn’t sure they can forget what Nikau’s done. Chloe tells him to go to bed.

Bella and Nikau are standing on the balcony of the Diner flat. Nikau says he’s missed this and they kiss. Nikau says he’ll head home and see her tomorrow. Bella asks him to stay. Nikau checks that she’s sure and they kiss again. Next morning, the two of them exit the flat, making plans to walk on the beach. Ryder calls Bella over and she sends Nikau away. Bella tells Ryder not to worry but Ryder replies that she’s been heartbroken because of Nikau rejecting her and cheating on her and wonders if this is really the right thing for her.

Arriving at the surf club, Ari and Mia reflect on whether or not Bella and Nikau are back together for good. Mia laughs at the idea of Ari walking her to her desk and tells him to get to work. She starts towards the gym then, once Ari has gone, takes out the key. She waits until he’s out of the way before heading out again, going to a lock-up garage, which is full of cobwebs and mostly children’s gear. Mia shuts the folding door behind her, pushing a tool through the handle to stop it being opened. She touches a cot, then pulls out a bag full of money.

At the Diner, Marilyn serves Alf and Roo who explain Martha is having a lie-in. Alf wants Marilyn’s help with something but refuses to clue in Roo. Nearby, Bella is sat on her own while Nikau chats with Chloe at the counter about last night. Ryder comes in and Chloe says she’ll help him in a minute. Ryder shoots Nikau a look and disappears into the kitchen without saying anything. Nikau and Bella go for a walk and he asks what Ryder said. Bella notes she was relieved when Nikau changed his mind but now wonders why he did it, after saying they were better off apart. Nikau says he thought he didn’t deserve her but she never gave up on him. Bella accepts they can do it.

Chloe offers to help Ryder with deliveries. He agrees, until she also wants to talk about Bella, instead deciding to do it on his own. Chloe walks away. Ryder tells Roo that Bella and Nikau are back together; Roo thinks it’s great. Alf tells Marilyn about his plan to have a pinic for Martha on the Blaxland. Martha then arrives and Alf says there’s nothing special planned. Outside, Nikau approaches Ryder and says he gets that Ryder’s protecting Bella but promises he’ll never hurt her again. He asks Ryder to give him a second chance too.

Bella and Chloe run into each other at the surf club. After a bit of awkward chit-chat, Bella thanks Chloe for what she said to Nikau. Ryder and Nikau arrive. Ryder apologises to Bella for upsetting her. She gives him a hug and assures him she and Nikau will work out. Nikau challenges Ryder to a game of pool and Chloe suggests doubles, although Ryder declines Bella’s offer to play for money. Meanwhile, Mia is still at the lock-up, counting out money. Ari calls her: He’s at the gym, wondering where she is. Mia says she went to Yabbie Creek to get some supplements. Ari wants to meet her for lunch, saying he’ll see her at home. Mia says she’ll be 30-45 minutes. She takes the money she has counted out, putting the rest back.

Outside the Diner, Alf congratulates Martha on how things are going and suggests they have lunch. Martha agrees but then has to go to take a call from a potential sponsor. Inside, Alf makes preparations with Marilyn but still refuses to fill-in Roo. Martha appears and says the call was from a mental health advocacy group who want to do something with them. Alf tries to draw the conversation back to lunch but Martha explains she’s arranged for her and Roo to meet them in the city this afternoon and they might stay overnight. Alf hides his disappointment.

Mia arrives home. Ari tells her he’s sold his bike to a colleague, giving them an extra $2000 for the gym deposit. Mia tells him he didn’t need to: She’s already made an offer to Jasmine and paid the deposit. Ari asks how. Mia says she used the money from the armed robbery.
