Extended Summary
Henry, Cassie and Matilda start a DVD night but the electricity fails so they have a seance instead. Cassie tries to contact Joy in the afterlife – unsuccessfully. Cassie’s upset because Joy believed in the afterlife and Cassie worries that she might be wrong. She breaks down in Ric’s arms. Matilda tells Cassie about an experience she had when her dad died. It proved he was watching over her. Matilda reckons Joy’s out there somewhere. Cassie takes her words on board. When the lights come back on she moves to blow out a candle but it just snuffs out by itself and Cassie realises it’s a sign from Joy. She’s a happy camper.
Kim arrives back from the city – excited about being a father. Hyde tells him the news about Zoe. Instead of being gutted, Kim insists he’s fine. Everyone realises he’s trying to snuff out his real feelings. Hyde is especially concerned about Kim and tries to talk to him. Kim snaps at him and then apologises. Hyde thinks it proves he has stuff to deal with but Kim thinks it just means he’s sick of people harping on at him. Hyde backs off and tells the others he tried, but there’s nothing he can do. Meanwhile, Kim is in his room when he comes across a memento of Zoe and completely flips. He’s not dealing with it all well in reality. Hayley talks to Kim and he finally opens up about how he trusted and loved Zoe and she played him for a fool. Hayley’s pleased to see him talking about it. Kim apologises again to Hyde and reckons Hayley’s got a way of getting through to him. Scott watches concerned at how close the two are getting.
Morag tells Jesse if they’re to beat the Macklin Corporation they need to know the full extent of their plans. Jesse suggests breaking in to Josie’s apartment, but Morag warns him against. He ignores her warning and does it anyway and finds some important files then he’s nearly discovered when Josie returns with Brett. Brett offers her the chance to pull out of their project… it’s going to be tough. Josie hesitates but says no way. Brett discovers the file Jesse dropped on the floor and gets angry at Josie. Jesse uses the chance to sneak out and they hear a click. Brett suspects nothing, but Josie is suspicious. Jesse returns to the Surf Club and tells Morag about finding the file about Bormak Enterprises. Morag will investigate but in the meantime she thinks the best way to fight the resort is to discredit the people behind it. She’s going to uncover Josie’s deadly 1989 secret! Josie will be finished forever.
