Diesel’s web of lies closes in around Sally, with shocking consequences. Jesse tries to make amends.

Extended Summary

Already on edge after Diesel’s visit, Sally’s further disturbed when Hyde tells her the department of education are sending an investigator to the school tomorrow to look into the allegations. Cassie and Henry talk to Diesel, telling him how hard Sally is taking all this, but he refuses to change his mind. He truly believes Sally led him on. Henry’s worried – if he’s half as convincing with the investigators… It won’t be good for Sally.

Alf’s pleased – Martha’s decided to stay in the Bay! Brett faces a jail sentence and Josie has been welcomed into the community again. Jesse turns up at the diner to apologise and tell everyone he’s turning a new leaf. He sees Josie there and there’s an underlying frisson between them. Leah and Dan arrive back from the city where they’ve spent a couple of days since getting back together. Jesse’s quick to apologise. Dan is also sorry for punching Jesse and letting things get out of hand. There’s a sense they all want to move forward – but it’s going to take a bit of time.

Leah reminds Sally she’s got nothing to be ashamed off – and she should stand tall. To show their support, Dan, Flynn and Cassie walk her to school. Some kids start pointing and gossiping and Cassie yells at them – it’s all lies! Despite her brave face, this is incredibly hard for Sally. From a distance, we see Diesel watching – beginning to realise the toll this is taking on her.

At the school, the Department of Education investigator, Mr Summons is already there and Hyde introduces him to Sally. As the school counsellor, Dan’s informed he needs to be present in all interviews. Dan doesn’t want to be seen to be against Sally but Sally says it’s okay – it’s his job…

The students have plenty of positive things to say about Sally, but when asked if they noticed any unusual behaviour between Diesel and Ms Fletcher, their comments include: Diesel was always in the room with Sally – sometimes before and after class; Sally used to let him get away with not doing homework; Craig even saw them down at the beach one night… Nearly everything said could be misinterpreted. Dan realises that this is going to be an uphill battle… Meanwhile, Diesel breaks in to Summer Bay House, picks up a locket of Sally’s and puts it in his pocket…

Diesel seems more uncertain now, as he heads in to the meeting… Summons wants to know if it is true Sally kissed him. He wavers, but then he flashes back to when Sally said she didn’t love him and darkens again –it’s all true. To further his claim, he pulls out e-mails sent from Sally’s email address (saying how deeply she cares, how wonderful the kiss was etc). Diesel says he’s had a lot of pressure from the others to lie about what happened, especially Cassie – Sally’s foster kid.

In her interview, Sally defends herself –insisting she didn’t send the e-mails or send Cassie to sway his mind. As for the allegations about the kiss – they’re simply not true. Diesel did kiss her but she promptly ended it. Summons questioning intensifies – it’s not looking great. Sally arrives home and goes through the phone messages waiting for her. She can’t believe the accusations being thrown at her by parents etc. One of the messages is from an elderly lady accusing her of being disgusting and announcing they should lock her in jail and throw away the key.

Jesse apologises to Alf about what a jerk he’s been over the past few weeks. He knows he hurt a lot of people. Alf’s not sure what to say but Jesse can see that he’s beginning to soften. Meanwhile, Sally receives a call from DOCS – due to the investigation at the school, they’re looking into whether or not she should have foster kids under her care. Cassie is stunned – you mean we could lose you? Sally’s face shows Cassie has hit the nail on the head…
