Kim’s playing nurse – every time Hayley tries to move or wants something, Kim jumps to her aid, fussing over her. Meanwhile, Scott’s at the Surf Club annoyed at himself for ruining everything. If only things were different… At her apartment, Josie’s still reeling at the paternity file. Finally, she picks the phone and calls Scott. Scott sees Josie on his caller ID and will not answer.
After their romantic dinner, Cassie and Ric are closer than ever. Martha spots them and crosses over, noting their happiness. The discussion quickly turns to Alf’s 60th… The invites have been printed up and Martha’s going to collect them. Matilda sees Cassie and privately tells her she wouldn’t blame her if she hated her… but Cassie just wants to put it behind her and move on. Friends? Matilda smiles her thanks.
Hayley’s released from hospital and Flynn gives her the exact rundown of what she can and can’t do at home – basically, she needs to avoid emotional and physical stress; she can’t push herself too hard … Meanwhile, Josie comes in to the Diner looking for Scott, keen to tell him the truth. Colleen makes her feel like the devil woman. Fed up, Josie goes…
The kids are making plans for the party, when they hear Alf approaching. They panic and throw the invites into a box on the table. Alf’s bemused by their behaviour as he reveals he’s come to collect the box of stuff for Rotary. Before the kids can protest, Alf picks the box up and heads out. The kids panic – he’s got the invites! At the surf club, Alf dumps the box on the counter, where Beth’s working. The kids race in, flustered and try to create a diversion but to no avail.
Scott’s on the Blaxland getting ready to leave the wharf when Josie comes along trying to catch him. She’s desperate to tell him her explosive news. She yells out, but Scott keeps going, yelling they’ve got nothing more to say to each other – when’s she going to get that through her head!
Hayley’s in bed when Kim explains that despite his anger, he pities Scott – the fact is he can’t come to terms with reality; he’s his own worst enemy. The moment is interrupted by the baby’s first kick. Suddenly, all else is forgotten as Hayley pulls Kim over and puts his hand on her belly. It’s incredible and confirms for Hayley that she did the right thing not to terminate the pregnancy. For the first time, Kim agrees with her. Eye contact is made between them, followed by an awkward moment. Hayley’s rattled – are her feelings re-surfacing?
The kids argue about how they’re going to get the invites back when they look across to see Alf going through the box. The jig is up, their secret’s out…but Alf doesn’t react. He moves off and Beth approaches them with a wry grin, saying if they want to plan a surprise party they really need to be more careful. She hands them the invites!
Josie’s determined to do the right thing and let Scott know about the paternity results. She writes him a goodbye letter, disclosing the results. Josie says her final goodbye to Jesse and hands him the letter for Scott saying it’s very important he gets it. Then, with nothing more to say, Josie gets into her car and drives off. Leah tells Scott about Josie – giving him his envelope, but Scott’s not interested in anything Josie has to say. Without a second thought, he rips the envelope up and throws it in the bin. The truth destroyed. Forever…?
