Extended Summary

Sonny runs into Theo on the beach, noting he hasn’t heard from him in a while. Theo makes it clear that he’s still keen on Lacey, wanting them to be together, and is going to talk to her now, pointing to where she’s lying on the beach further along. Theo walks over and Lacey warns him that Gage is in the water but agrees to meet him later on. Gage comes over and makes a point of kissing Lacey in front of Theo.

At the Parata house, Cash follows Eden into the kitchen. She tries to ask him about the River Boy intel he was chasing up but Cash avoids the attempt to change the subject. Eden says she was just seeing if the ring still fits and Cash says she’d only be doing that if she was interested in still wearing it. They get distracted by a message from Tane with a photo of him holding Archie, with Cash noting he must have sorted things out with Harper. Eden quickly takes the opportunity to leave.

Abigail tries to suggest to Mali that Kirby has been stressed but he doesn’t think that’s an excuse and says he can run his business on his own. Abigail points out that means doing all the lessons, running the shop, doing the books and sorting out the orders. Mali realises he’s shot himself in the foot. At the Lyrik house, Kirby tells Justin that being sacked in front of the journo makes her look pathetic. Justin wonders why Mali would do that and Kirby admits she was creative with the truth, before asking him to call the magazine and get her a second chance. Cash turns up looking for Eden and says to let her know if they see her.

Lacey is standing outside the surf club as Gage showers and gets a text from Theo asking to meet at Salt. Sonny comes over and Lacey takes the opportunity to slip away, saying she’ll get food. Sonny asks if Gage has made his mind up about him racing instead of Theo. Gage says they’re not going to be racing for a while because there’s too much heat from the police.

Lacey meets with Theo and notes Gage is in a mood. Theo tells her he thinks they should be together. Lacey stops him and tries to leave, saying he should know how dangerous Gage is. Theo says he cares about her more than Gage does. Lacey says she thought he knew what this was and they can’t be any more than they are now.

At the coffee cart, Irene chats to Leah about how Harper will be home with Archie soon. They serve Remi and Bree; Bree has the day off. The pair notice Eden pacing nearby in an agitated state and call her over. Eden tells them about Cash finding her with the engagement ring. She says seeing it scared Cash but Remi points out that she’s still wearing it.

At the farm house, Mali works out a way to rearrange his schedules to fit everything in and Abigail offers to help out. He admits he needs to sort out the staffing situation at some point. Abigail encourages him to sort things out with Kirby, saying even if she’s not his employee anymore, she’s still his friend.

Bree tries to catch up, since she thought Eden was the one who wanted to take things slow. Remi brings a coffee over and Cash joins them moments later, saying Remi told him where Eden was. Remi and Bree leave. Cash says he was going to report the ring as missing, before apologising for the joke. He says it’s just a ring and they both repeat it as though trying to convince themselves.

Justin comes back in from making a phone call and tells Kirby that Sebastian is going to run with the story from today, saying he was moved by her and felt inspired. Eden comes in and Kirby sees she’s wearing the engagement ring. She and Justin congratulate her…until she says she’s not engaged. Justin beats a hasty retreat as Eden explains to Kirby that apparently it’s just a ring.

Gage finds Lacey outside the surf club and wonders what happened to lunch. She says there was a long line so she didn’t bother. Sonny listens round the corner as Lacey admits that she ran into Theo. Gage says it’s a coincidence running into him twice in one day and he doesn’t like people touching his property.

Eden debates whether to go and face the music or hide there all night. Kirby encourages her to tell Cash she’s ready for the marriage and wedding but Eden thinks he was spooked by what happened with Tane and Harper. Kirby says she’ll carry her over there and seems poised to do just that. Eden tries to take the opportunity of Abigail and Mali turning up to stay but Kirby sends her away. Mali apologises for losing it and Kirby says she was out of line: What she said wasn’t cool and she was trying to impress Seb. Mali accepts that the board shop isn’t her dream and Kirby says that it is his. She offers to work the rest of her notice but Mali cheerily says she’s still fired.

Eden turns up at the Newman house and admits to Cash that she’s been walking around outside for half an hour. They sit down to talk and Eden explains that she does want to get engaged again. Cash tells her to give him the ring back, saying he wants to marry her and spend the rest of his life with her and start by surprising her by asking her. Eden is happy with that.

Remi, Bree and Sonny go up to Salt. Remi asks about the motel and says Sonny could move back in with them. Sonny is distracted by the River Boys sitting nearby, pointing out Gage and Lacey and explaining Theo’s hooking up with her behind his back. Lacey goes to the bar and Sonny joins her, asking if Gage is onto her and Theo. Lacey admits maybe and tells him to steer Theo clear. Sonny surreptitiously gets her to give him her number. Gage comes over and says it’s time to go. Sonny leaves Theo a message to call him.

Next morning, Sonny runs into Justin on the beach and comments on Theo not being with him. Justin says he headed out early but he doesn’t know where because he just heard the car. Meanwhile, Theo turns up at the River Boy compound where Gage, Lacey and a group of River Boys are standing around. Lacey quietly asks why he’s there. Theo says Gage said there was a race. Gage confirms that he did but says there’s things they need to work out.
