Extended Summary

Remi and Eden are holed up at the holiday home, but instead of focusing on the song-writing, Remi is playing basketball and Eden is spending all her time looking at Kirby’s social media posts and complaining about her making comments about moving forward. Despite this, she recalls Bree telling them that Kirby didn’t know about the copyright ban and wonders if they should get in touch with her. Remi points out that Kirby hasn’t got in touch with them and reminds her how they held Lyrik together when Kirby went to medical school and when Bob left.

Later, Remi is strumming the guitar until Eden hits him with a paper plane. She complains about another of Kirsty’s posts which prompts Remi to declare no phones and lock the phones in a cupboard. Eden asks what the biggest thing to happen to him is and Remi says falling in love with Bree. Eden says it’s the same for her, quickly clarifying she was referring to Cash. They decide they should write a love song.

Roo is repeatedly pressing the help button while Marilyn tries to get her to talk. Bree turns up and Roo says she wants her “guest” to leave. Marilyn eventually complies and Roo asks Bree if someone can help her take a shower. Outside the surf club, Alf encounters Mali, who says he’s trying to keep busy while Rose is away. He asks after Roo and Alf suggests Mali come with him to see her.

Rose arrives home and is bemused to find Bree there, having come to get some clothes. Rose tells her about visiting her mum to say she’d met her biological father. Bree wonders how she missed that. Rose gets a call from Mali but says she’ll deal with that when she’s not tired. Meanwhile, Alf turns up to see Roo at the hospital and notes he’s heard not everyone’s welcome. Roo guesses he’s spoken to Marilyn. Further debate is prevented by Mali arriving with flowers. Roo asks how his ear is, recalling how he came after them to warn them. She is somewhat unnerved when Mali tells her it’s all healed.

Eden and Remi are still struggling to write something, with Remi’s only contribution being writing “Love song” surrounded by love hearts. They wonder if maybe this is too predictable. Eden decides they need some tequila in the hope of providing inspiration. Next morning, Rose and Bree are walking on the beach. They see Mali, and Bree encourages Rose to go and talk to him. Rose apologises for shutting him out and tells him about her chat with her mum. It was as they suspected: She thought that, since Samuel was married, he wouldn’t want to know, even though she loved him.

Remi and Eden are slumped on the sofas, hungover. Remi’s phone starts ringing and Eden sends him to get it from the cupboard. He has a brief chat, apparently with Bree, then his attention is drawn to a framed flyer from Lyrik’s first gig. Eden wonders how Kirby could throw all that history away. She grabs a notepad and heads outside. At Salt, Mali asks Rose if she’s made any decisions about Samuel. Rose isn’t sure he’ll want anything to do with her. Mali tells her what Samuel said about his door always being open.

Roo has another visit from Marilyn, who doesn’t seem to have been put off by the fact Roo doesn’t want her there. She says she also blamed herself for the explosion, which is why she couldn’t face visiting her in the city. Bree interrupts and tells Roo her care team have a meeting. Marilyn leaves them to talk. Later, when Marilyn returns, Roo tells her that, even though they’ve been friends a long time, things change. Bree turns up with Alf and announces that the care team have agreed to start the process of sending her home. Marilyn says she can get her room ready, prompting Roo to put her head in her hands. Roo tells Marilyn she needs a break from her. Alf tries to intercede but Marilyn leaves. Roo tells Alf it feels like everyone’s moved on from the accident except her.

Remi brings Eden a hot drink outside. Eden has actually started writing something. Remi looks at the lyrics: “And now you’re gone, you went your way/And what am I supposed to say?” He is impressed and tells her to keep going while he works out a melody. Meanwhile, Alf tries to convince Roo she’ll be home soon. Roo says it won’t be business as usual. Alf reminds her she was on life support to start with and all her friends will be there for her, including Marilyn.

Mali turns up at the flat with Kirby’s board, which Mackenzie told him to deliver. He notices Rose seems to be packing again. She says she spoke to Samuel and asked him if he wanted a visitor or two, meaning them. Mali is pleased with the idea of getting to know him. Later, they run into Alf at the Diner, with Mali telling him that the shop will be closed for a few days. Irene turns up and Alf is surprised she came back so soon. Irene asks what’s going on with Marilyn and Roo.

Eden and Remi are working on an arrangement but Eden breaks off, admitting she misses Kirby. Later, Remi tries to get things going again but Eden says she’s not doing the rest of the song. Remi protests that they’re trying to save the band but Eden says either they find another way or the band doesn’t get saved.
