Extended Summary
Brax and Ash prepare to drive back into the country to speak to try to make Sam confess to killing Dean. But Kat’s making things difficult. She’s sniffing around, driving past the house at all hours to check Brax hasn’t skipped town. Kat’s boss gets wind of her drivebys and reprimands her: she’s not on the case. But it doesn’t stop Kat. Kyle worries that Brax won’t be able to get away with Kat on their backs, and Ricky’s concerned that Ash and Brax don’t have a solid plan for when they get there. The next morning, Brax goes to the police station to sign in under his bail conditions. As Ricky follows Brax out, Kat asks her if Brax is planning to leave. Ricky guesses that Kat is on to them. In a bid to get Brax and Ash away safely, Ricky goes to the police station and distracts Kat while the boys leave unseen.
Oscar and Maddy arrive back in Summer Bay. Roo is immensely relieved to have her home, and even happier to hear that Maddy wants to start chemotherapy. After seeing Hannah in hospital, Oscar admits to Denny that he’s not sure he made the right choice to go to the city to find Maddy. Hannah is desperate to leave the confines of the hospital, but Nate thinks it’s too soon for her to go home. When Hannah breaks down after seeing Oscar, telling Andy that she feels like a burden, he decides to try to fix things. He goes to Nate and pleads Hannah’s case, telling him that he’s ready to look after her at home, whatever it takes. Denny and Oscar are surprised when Andy brings Hannah home. Denny’s not impressed, upset that Andy has done the wrong thing by pressuring Nate to let Hannah out early. It’s the last straw when Denny overhears Andy talking to Hannah about him moving into the house. She blows up at Andy, telling him that he’s not responsible enough to look after Hannah. Meanwhile, Nate is dismissive of Kat when she turns up at the hospital to go through the report on the bus crash. He tells her he doesn’t have time – and he already feels bad enough about being responsible. Later, Nate sees Kat in the Diner and apologises for being rude earlier. She tells him that nothing in the report indicates he was to blame for the accident.
