Extended Summary

Tane is dismissing a class near the beach. He sees he has a missed call and voicemail from Felicity and listens to it. At the Lyrik house, Remi admits to Kirby that his physio told him he should have stopped playing when the hand started to hurt. He is frustrated at how long it will take to recover but Kirby assures him he’ll have a long career. Theo turns up and Remi tells him he’s okay with him moving in (so long as he doesn’t touch his guitar) and Eden won’t notice. After Remi’s gone, Theo admits to Kirby that Leah isn’t on board.

At the Morgan house, Roo tells Justin and Ava that she checked with the school and Ava had a history assignment that was due yesterday. Ava claims that she thought it was due next week. Roo says she’s got an extension but it will have to be done tomorrow and she’ll sort out a study schedule. Justin asks for a copy. Leah comes home and asks to speak to Justin in private. Ava rudely dismisses Roo once Leah and Justin are out the room. Leah tells Justin that Theo’s moving in with Kirby. Justin thinks they’re at that stage of their relationship but Leah says it’s because of Ava and she isn’t sorted. Next morning, Remi meets Bree after a surf with her towel and thanks her for being nicer to him than his physio. He convinces her to join him for a coffee.

At the surf club, Leah complains to Roo about Theo having to move out. Roo says Ava’s a different person when Justin isn’t there. Leah thinks she needs to show him, although she’s not sure how. They suddenly notice the gym is closed “due to family circumstances”. Outside the farm, Felicity tries to convince Gary she slept well but he says he never fixed the squeaky floorboard in the kitchen and heard her wandering about during the night. He tries to convince her not to worry that she hasn’t heard from Tane yet. Only a few moments later, Tane pulls up in his car and Felicity goes over to greet him, shocked that he came. Tane says of course he did, then wonders why he’s there.

Remi notices Bree seems distracted as they have coffee at the Diner. Bree says she has a counselling session and wants to get ready for it. Theo and Kirby come in and Theo gets a text from Justin asking to meet him. Bree is more animated with the pair, saying she’ll be keen to buy Lyrik merchandise when they make some. After saying her goodbyes, Bree goes back up to the flat where she sits and cries.

Felicity gives Tane a tour of the farm, showing him the covered area where she used to plan world domination or hide when she got a bad report card. Tane asks where she goes to avoid a question, asking if she’s planning to stay at the farm. Felicity says she loves him and wants to be with him, so is hoping they can figure out how that happens. Meanwhile, Justin meets with Theo at the Diner, asking him about staying with Kirby and wanting him to tell Leah that it’s not because of Ava. Theo tells him that, actually, it is because he can’t be around Ava anymore.

Roo asks Ava to stop looking at her phone and come and join her. Leah suggests Ava doesn’t waste Roo’s time before leaving them to it. Roo says that Justin won’t be pleased to come home and find she hasn’t started. She tries to talk to Ava about the essay subject, the Battle of Midway, and Ava claims she doesn’t believe in glorifying war, before saying this isn’t why she came here. Roo asks why she did come there and Ava buries herself in her book.

Justin tries to insist to Theo that everything’s sorted. Theo says that Ava could post something about him or Kirby, or make people think there’s something going on when she’s only sixteen. He thinks Justin doesn’t get it. Theo leaves, passing Leah. Justin insists Ava isn’t a danger and accuses Leah of making it into a crisis but Leah says he’d be upset if Ava wasn’t comfortable around Theo.

At the surf club, Remi tells Kirby that Bree seems colder towards him: They seemed to be getting on better a couple of days ago but now they don’t talk about anything important and it feels like he’s been friend-zoned. He decides to focus on the band. Back at the farm, Gary is in uniform and preparing to head off on duty. He tells Tane he’s made up a spare room for if he’s decided to stay. After Gary’s gone, Felicity asks Tane if he will. Tane agrees.

Roo tries to get Ava to put her phone down, wondering if she’s checking on Lyrik or Theo, since Leah said she was a fan. Ava denies it. Theo appears and says he’s going to get some things, saying he’s staying at Kirby’s. Ava protests that he lives there but Theo is adamant. Roo asks Ava why she’s upset. Ava insists she doesn’t care and storms off to her room.

Justin accepts that he’s giving Ava too much leeway but also thinks Theo moving out for a bit isn’t that bad. Leah insists he needs to feel comfortable. Roo arrives and says they didn’t get the essay done and she thinks there’s still a problem between Ava and Theo. Justin isn’t happy that Leah spoke to Roo about it and accuses Roo of spying on Ava, saying that’s not why he’s paying her. He heads off to a band meeting.

Remi is with Theo and Kirby at Salt. Kirby tries to tell him not to expect Eden to be there, even though he told her about the meeting. Justin arrives. Remi says they need a Plan B for his absence from the band. However, Justin immediately starts arguing with Theo about him making Ava think she’s the reason he’s moved out. When Kirby chimes in that Theo shouldn’t be made to feel uncomfortable at home, Remi asks if he’s the only one that cares about the band and storms out. Kirby follows him downstairs and admits they’ve all got personal stuff going on, before trying to get him to see that Bree just needs time. Remi thinks they’ll never get back to where they were.

Bree is still sitting on her own at home. Remi turns up and asks to come in, before asking her what’s going on. Bree says it’s not a good time. Remi asks what he’s done wrong.
