Extended Summary
Xander and Mali are in the middle of a surf lesson. Mali asks about Rose but Xander suggests they agree not to talk about her during lessons. Rose herself then appears and asks Mali if he’s sticking around for a while. Mali says there’s a lot to like about the place. Xander points out he’s paying for this lesson and Mali tells Rose he’ll meet her for a coffee afterwards. Xander complains that Rose ignored him.
Ziggy and Dean are getting ready to go out with Izzy. Ziggy checks Dean has nappies and Dean checks Ziggy has a blanket. Ziggy says she also has the shade thing, wipes, powder and change mat. Determined to go out, they head out the door…and then come back in a few seconds later for Izzy. Ziggy moans they’re terrible parents and tries to assure Izzy that they didn’t forget her.
Eden lies down at home, but when she closes her eyes, she has flashbacks of intimate moments with Cash, including their recent kiss, and telling him she loves him. Noticing Remi’s guitar, she picks it up, starts strumming and, after writing a few lines, sings a song about what she remembers. She is still playing later when Kirby arrives home to get changed for work and ignores a call from Cash. Kirby assures Eden that she’s fine covering the bills and asks what she was playing. Eden says it’s something new. They discuss Remi and the fact he’s gone to see Justin. Kirby tells Eden to make sure Remi’s there with her tonight and keep her phone on.
At the Dner, Alf complains to Roo and Marilyn about John changing things, thinking he’s trying to make him look bad. Kirby rushes in, apologising for being late and saying it won’t happen again. Marilyn says not to make promises she can’t keep and heads off to man the coffee cart. Kirby offers Alf a coffee, saying her lattes are getting better. Alf says he only has tea, and just a plain black one at that.
Rose and Mali are catching up at Salt. Mali says he’s arranged to stay there for a month to see how it goes and his family were fine with it in the end. He adds that he drew up a pros and cons list and she featured heavily. They kiss.
Later, Rose fills in Kirby and Xander at the Diner, saying they’ve kissed before but doing it in public felt like changing gears. Kirby suspects she felt pressured. Marilyn comes over and points out Kirby has customers waiting, telling her to keep the chat to a mininum. Xander tells Rose she obviously likes Mali and suggests she’s scared and the pressure is coming from her.
Marilyn serves John at the coffee cart, where he still has WiFi, and scolds him for upsetting Alf. John says he’s making things easier for him. Ziggy and Dean appear with Izzy but Ziggy is worried about how unsettled and hot she is. Marilyn tells Ziggy to trust her instincts and Dean suggests taking a layer off and seeing what happened.
John runs into Eden and tries to suggest she talk to Cash. Eden politely but firmly tells him that a game of cards doesn’t mean he can comment on her love life. She turns her phone off in response to another call from Cash. At the surf club, Dean is pleased by the fact Mali’s agreed to stay on full-time. Ziggy wonders where Izzy’s black onesie is because she needs changing again. Mali runs into Rose who asks him what he’s doing later. Mali guesses he has a hot date.
At the Diner, Kirby leaves an anxious phone message for Eden. John comes in and tells her he’s just seen Eden and she was okay considering. Alf and Roo come in and John apologises for trying to help Alf, before producing a manual he’s written that he says even a child could understand. Roo suggests that came out wrong and Alf says he knows where John can stick the manual. Roo takes it from John as he leaves. Rose comes in and tells Xander she followed his advice and arranged a date with Mali, telling him not to wait up. Xander tries to stop Kirby giving Rose a high five for a booty call. Rose says it’s for going after what you want.
Ziggy is trying to cool Izzy with a cloth while Dean is on the phone to the midwife. Dean says the midwife told them to take Izzy to the hospital if they’re worried and wonders if they are. Ziggy decides yes. They head to the hospital with Ziggy lamenting not having a thermometer. Dean wonders if they’re overreacting and Ziggy reminds him Izzy has a temperature and even a car journey didn’t settle her.
Mali waits nervously at the bar in Salt until Rose turns up. They exchange quips about him having his good jeans on, which he admits are his only jeans. Rose kisses him and thanks him for the date. At the Diner, Roo is trying to get Alf to read the manual but Alf thinks John is trying to make him look stupid. Kirby continues to look worried until Eden comes in and admits she turned her phone off. She says that a friend once told her to put a problem into a song. Kirby is pleased but reminds her to keep in touch.
Mali and Rose walk through the caravan park. He offers to light a firepit for them but Rose kisses him instead. They go to his caravan and Rose starts to undress him but then she pulls back and apologises, hurriedly leaving. She runs into a surprised Xander at the Diner and gives him a slightly edited account of what happened, saying she’s not sure why she reacted like that.
Ziggy complains about being sent home. Dean says the doctor said there was nothing to worry about and Izzy’s temperature is down. Ziggy worries what will happen when the paracetamol wears off. Dean says they can take her back if necessary. Later, Ziggy announces they’re going back to hospital since Izzy’s temperature is rising again. Dean again thinks the hospital wouldn’t have sent them home if there was anything wrong. Ziggy insists she’s going and asks whether he’s coming or not.
