At the Morgan house, Justin is on the phone to someone who hangs up after saying it’s his bar and his rules. Leah describes the gig at the Palace as “interesting”. Leah reminds him he has other options and says she’s leaving now if he wants to meet Ziggy at the Diner.
Heather rejoins Nikau inside the surf club. Heather says Marilyn did something generous for her. Nikau thinks she means agreeing not to keep her a secret anymore, explaining he tried to make Marilyn see how hurtful it was. He suggests she might tell people now. Heather says Marilyn won’t have anyone to tell: She confessed to slashing John’s tyres so now everyone hates her. Nearby, Mackenzie asks Dean about him sleeping on the couch but he refuses to talk about it.
At the Diner, Justin talks to Ziggy about the garage. Ziggy is vague and distracted but eventually confirms she’s finished Mackenzie’s car. Justin says he’ll drop it round himself. Marilyn comes in and apologises to Irene for rushing off again. Leah picks up on her good mood and follows her into the kitchen. Marilyn says Heather hugged her and she’s finally connecting with her daughter.
At the caravan park house, Roo tells Alf she’s meeting Heather there today. Alf doesn’t really seem to be listening and says he doesn’t understand about Marilyn changing her story about taking her pills. Heather arrives and asks how they are, saying she heard about Marilyn’s confession. Roo says Marilyn’s on top of everything. Heather says she still has to face consequences but Alf and Roo say the police aren’t pressing charges. Heather says it’s nice they can all turn the other cheek, in a tone of voice that suggests she doesn’t think it’s nice at all.
At the Diner, Leah says it’s good Marilyn’s connecting with Heather and asks if she’s closer to telling everyone who she is. Irene comes in and asks for someone to take the coffees out. Marilyn quickly leaves. Irene tells Leah about Marilyn slashing John’s tyres. Marilyn serves Justin and Ziggy, commenting on Ziggy having decaf. Ziggy says she’s on a detox. Justin asks her about ordering a new gearbox for a car in tomorrow and she admits she forgot. Justin says the customer needs the car for the weekend. Ziggy bursts into tears and says she has to go, rushing out and leaving him bewildered.
Mackenzie brings Dean some food on the Salt balcony. Dean says he’s not going to talk but quickly starts talking about how he and Ziggy promised they’d be a team but now she’s shutting him out. Mackenzie follows him downstairs and reminds himshe was an emotional mess when she was pregnant, saying Ziggy appreciates him being there for her. Dean understands that he needs to take some hits. A tearful Ziggy comes in and asks Dean to take her home.
Justin is confused as to how he managed to upset Ziggy. Irene and Leah suggests she was probably having a bad day and to give her space. Leah reminds him he has to sort out Lyrik’s gigs. Justin says he’ll go and see Mackenzie and drop the Palace if she has Lyrik back. Leah goes over to Marilyn and asks her about what Irene said. Marilyn tries to spin her story about being off her meds but Leah points out that, unlike everyone else, she knows the reason for Marilyn’s behaviour.
Justin gives Mackenzie the keys to her car and says the repair was on the house, since it just needed a new fuel pump. He asks if they can have that meeting about Lyrik coming back to Salt now. Mackenzie says to wait until she’s set up for the lunchtime rush.
Leah and Marilyn are at the Morgan house. Leah asks why Marilyn confessed. Marilyn admits Heather did it, saying John was asking questions and she was trying to protect their secret. She calls Heather unstable and Leah calls her unhinged. Marilyn says Heather’s affected by how she grew up. Leah says Marilyn’s not responsible for her and worries about what else she’ll do.
Outside her caravan, Heather rants to Nikau about how everyone’s still on Marilyn’s side after she’s broken the law, saying they’ve all fallen for her act and calling her fake and full of it. Calming down, she says it hurts that Marilyn’s keeping her secret and she’ll never love her. Nikau comforts her.
Ziggy and Dean arrive home. Ziggy is embarrassed about her meltdown in front of Justin. Dean says Justin won’t want to talk about her feelings. Ziggy is surprised and Dean guesses she was expecting him to say he was right. He says he understand it’s hard for her and is trying to support her. He asks her to stop shutting him out. Ziggy apologises and agrees it’s both their pregnancy.
Mackenzie pointedly walks past Justin’s table to serve a customer before sitting with him. She reminds him that he didn’t seem too keen on coming back to Salt before. Justin says it was just a scheduling issue. Mackenzie says that, while she was looking for a new band the previous night, she popped in on Salt’s gig and saw it was a train wreck. She says he needs her as much as she needs him.
Alf and Roo arrive at the Diner and tell Marilyn her shift’s over and they’re taking her for dinner in Yabbie Creek. Irene explains she’s arranged for Leah to cover. Nikau comes in and privately tells Marilyn that Heather was upset. Marilyn says there was no fight and they’ve never been closer. Nikau asks if they talked about telling people the truth and Marilyn says she doesn’t want to talk about it now.
Leah goes to Heather’s van and says Marilyn told her who she is. Heather comments that it’s interesting Marilyn told Leah out of everyone. Leah accuses her of playing games with Marilyn and insists it stops. Heather asks how Leah’s going to make her do that. Leah says not to threaten her, and if Heather hurts Marilyn, she will go to the police herself.
Mackenzie tells Justin she’ll accept Lyrik back at the higher price on condition that he drops the gigs at the Palace so Salt’s the only venue in the area where they play. She also insists on a twelve month contract. Justin indicates it’s not a problem. Meanwhile, Leah arrives home and finds the place wrecked. She calls out but doesn’t get a response, then rings the police and tells them to come quickly.
