Ziggy refuses to accept her limits. Xander and Bree’s prank pays off. Marilyn lies to protect Heather.

Extended Summary

Xander and Bree meet up outside the surf club. Xander notes he told Rose about her being married but she still wants to set him up. Bree suggests getting revenge for that. Nearby, Ziggy meets Dean for dinner but he isn’t convinced she’s up to it. Ziggy quickly proves his point by throwing up in the bushes. Bree asks if she’s okay and Dean says it was a dodgy prawn. Once they’re alone, he tells Ziggy she can’t hide it forever.

At the Diner, John asks why Marilyn is confessing to something she didn’t do. Marilyn insists she did do it and, when Rose enters, announces she slashed John’s tyres. John says not to press charges. Irene suggests consequences might help and asks Marilyn if she’s going to pay for the damage. Marilyn says she’s said sorry and everyone should leave her alone. Rose offers her a lift home.

When they get back to the house, Marilyn tries to get inside quickly. Rose asks why she did it. Marilyn says John still thinks he has the right to poke his nose in her life. Rose notes this is the second time recently Marilyn has dodged charges and says to call her if she needs to talk.

Back at the farm house, Dean gives Ziggy some water and tries to tell her about Tane planning to propose. Ziggy asks for crackers and is frustrated that there aren’t any. Dean offers to get something else. Ziggy, in tears, says in quick succession that she doesn’t want anything, not to leave her and not to be nice to her.

Marilyn turns up at the surf club and gives John a cheque for $425 to pay for the tyres. John refuses to accept it, since he believes she didn’t do it, reminding her she told him she didn’t. Marilyn says she lied. John asks which tyres she slashed. Marilyn hurries out without answering, leaving the cheque behind. Meanwhile, Alf and Roo arrive at the Diner and Irene tells them about Marilyn’s confession. They conclude her denying it must have been an act. Roo thinks they’ll have no chance of getting a rational explanation. Alf suggests at least she knows she did wrong and says they need to support her.

Dean asks Ziggy if she feels better now. He thinks she’s pushing herself too hard. Ziggy insists it’s up to her. She wants to go out to dinner like normal people. Dean thinks they need to accept their normal has changed and tells her to talk to Justin but she refuses and eventually storms out. Later, Ziggy emerges as Dean is cooking. He says Mackenzie put some leftovers from Salt in the fridge but Ziggy is still frustrated and not willing to admit that things have changed. She ends up storming out again, telling him to sleep on the couch.

At Salt, Xander has told Bree a story about having to do CPR at a nudist beach. Rose arrives and Bree says she and Xander have decided to give it a go. She takes Xander’s hand and he says they’re on a date. Rose protests that she’s married and they crack up laughing. Rose goes to get a drink, leaving her phone on the table. Bree asks Xander if he knows the passcode.

Outside the caravan park house, Alf says goodbye to Marilyn before heading off fishing. Roo sits with Marilyn and apologises that things have been hard between them lately. She says it was brave to tell the truth but asks why she did it. Marilyn says she stopped taking her medication but she’s back on it now and doesn’t need to see a doctor. At the Diner, Alf tells Irene he thinks Marilyn’s turned a corner. John arrives as Alf leaves. He tells Irene he doesn’t think Marilyn would be destructive and thinks she’s protecting Heather for some reason and intends to find out why.

Next morning, Xander and Rose return from a swim on the beach. Xander encourages Rose to turn her phone back on, saying work might call with an emergency. Rose wonders if he sent her a funny meme. She turns on her phone and gets a lot of alerts from Smoulder. Xander explains that it’s a dating profile he set her up on. Rose playfully chases him.

Dean is still asleep on the couch. Ziggy comes in and wakes him. She says she hasn’t thrown up once and Dean attributes it to a good night’s sleep. She apologises for making him sleep there and suggests they go to Salt for breakfast. At the surf club, John is on the phone to Justin getting a quote for the tyres. Xander and Rose banter about the app. Bree joins them and admits she helped. Rose makes a pact that she and Xander never try to set each other up again. Xander says she can delete the app but Rose, getting more alerts, says she might keep it. Xander and Bree fist pump.

Alf, Roo and Marilyn all arrive at the Diner and tell Irene they’re there for breakfast. Irene tells Marilyn that things are looking up for her but that John still isn’t sure about what happened. Marilyn says that’s not her problem and he doesn’t have the right to interfere in her life. Later, Alf tells Marilyn he’s proud of her. Irene joins the group as Alf and Roo encourage Marilyn to tell them anything she needs to. Marilyn gets a text from Heather saying “Can we meet?” and quickly makes her excuses, bailing on the conversation.

Ziggy and Dean are eating on the Salt balcony. Dean admits he’s just waiting for Ziggy to yell, cry or throw up and asks if he’s going to be her punching bag for six months. Ziggy tells him the first trimester is usually the hardest. Dean isn’t exactly reassured and reminds her she still hasn’t told Justin. Ziggy walks out. Outside, Dean again encourages her to talk to Justin and says she needs to organise maternity leave eventually. Ziggy insists it’s her pregnancy, which Dean isn’t happy about, sarcastically saying it’s good to know they’re a team before walking away.
