Extended Summary
Justin is on the beach, staring out to sea. Ziggy approaches with a surf board and they discuss him not being able to get out there at the moment. Justin asks how Tane’s getting on and Ziggy says she’s fine with him, noting that he can do the boring admin work and also revealing he closed up last night. Meanwhile, Mackenzie is trying to get Ari to stay in bed longer. While he’s charmed, Ari suspects it’s partly so she can avoid Tane and convinces her to get up. When they exit the room however, Tane greets them in a cheery manner and says he’s made enough breakfast for them. He also says things are fine at work before leaving. Mackenzie notes it went better than expected.
Tori arrives home; Justin and Leah have been looking after Grace. Leah says she only woke up once and Tori notes she’s an angel for everyone else. Justin asks if she’s heard from Christian and Tori complains he hasn’t mentioned going on a date again at all. Justin actually meant about his treatment and an embarrassed Tori says he’s passed the information on to a colleague in the city. Leah leaves for work and Tori goes to shower and check on Grace. At the garage, Tane is on the phone to someone asking when the van’s going to be picked up. Ziggy arrives and quickly realises the van isn’t on the job sheet. Tane said it just had a flat tyre and he’s already fixed it.
Mackenzie and Ari walk near the beach, discussing Tane’s change of mood. Ari is now happy to skip work to spend time with her but Mackenzie says she needs to run her business and he needs to earn money to shower her with gifts. Ari says he’ll meet her at lunch. As they walk away, Christian appears on the phone to someone about Justin. At the Morgan house, Justin talks to Tori about the agony of waiting. Tori is trying to feed Grace but she won’t take the spoon, and Tori’s attempt to demonstrate eating just leads to her spilling the food down herself. She goes to answer the door and inevitably finds herself face to face with Christian whilst in a robe, mopping up the mess and with a towel over her hair. He says he’s there to see Justin.
Ziggy asks Tane about the van not being picked up. Tane says it should have been done by now and he’ll call the owner. Ziggy is pleased to have a PA to deal with these things for her. Tane goes out of earshot to make the call but only gets voicemail. Later, Ziggy asks for the keys for the van to move it and Tane says he will, also saying he called the guy who owned it and left a message. He suggests Ziggy goes and gets lunch while he sorts it. After jokingly reminding him that she’s the boss, she heads out.
At the Diner, Irene asks Leah how Justin is. Leah says he’s doing okay and mentions Tane helping out at the garage. She gets a phone call from Justin and says she has to go see Christian with him; Irene is fine with it. Leah arrives home as Christian is telling Justin and Tori that there are two options. The first is to operate again, using a microsurgery technique to be able to excise the area within a millimere or two. The second is to use radiotherapy to shrink the tumour and relieve the pressure. Justin isn’t any more keen on that. Christian gives him information on radiotherapy and says to ask him or Tori if he has questions, not Doctor Google. Justin asks for time. Tori shows Christian to the door and he notes it’s nice to see her out of hospital. Leah asks them both to go for a walk while she and Justin talk it over.
At Salt, Ari suggests to Mackenzie that they have a barbecue at his tonight. Mackenzie still isn’t sure how Tane will react despite his good mood that morning. Ziggy appears and attributes it to his awesome boss, saying he’s doing well at the garage. Meanwhile, Tane is on the phone to someone and learns the person who was meant to pick up the van has been arrested. Ziggy arrives back with lunch. Tane tells her that he called the owner but she was having to deal with a school crisis with her kid. Ziggy tells him she praised him to Ari and Mackenzie. Tane thinks Ari was checking up on him again.
Tori tells Christian she’s not feeling confident about giving Justin advice after the decision she made last time. Christian points out that this time Justin’s making the decision and she just has to support him, but admits it’s harder to be objective when it’s a relative. He asks what she’s doing tonight and she says she’ll probably be talking Justin through his options. Christian asks about dinner: It takes a couple of goes for Tori to realise he’s asking her to have dinner with him, but eventually she agrees to meet him at Salt at seven. She goes home and tells Leah and Justin. She babbles to Leah about how she hasn’t been on a date in two years and doesn’t know anything to talk about except work and babies, ponders reading up on current affairs and considers cancelling. Justin tells her to go and points out she only has three hours to get ready. Tori realises Grace has thrown up over everything she could wear.
Ziggy wonders why Tane’s good mood has gone and he says Ari was checking up on him again. She wonders if the van owner will turn up, since they’re closing soon. Tane offers to wait for her. Ziggy guesses it’s because she was hot, and tells him he can stay but not to have sex in the garage. Meanwhile, Tori is trying on various outfits and wondering about earrings and her hair. Justin tells Grace she hasn’t gone mad, just forgotten how to interact with humans. He expresses shock at how much cleavage her final outfit shows before hastily joining Leah in telling her she looks great and ushering her out the door. He suggests that after Leah’s put Grace to bed, they look over the pamphlets.
At Salt, Ziggy tells Ari not to text Tane while he’s at work but Ari says he didn’t. Nearby, Tori is sat at a table; she gets up to greet Christian when he comes in and knocks a glass of water over him. Christian goes to get her a wine. Later, Mackenzie and Ari are preparing to leave. She quietly guesses Tori and Christian are on their first date and notes she and Ari never had one; Ari points out she came to his caravan and threw herself at him. Tori nervously suggests oysters, pizza or steak. Christian jokingly claims to be a vegetarian. Tori accidentally suggests he goes on lots of dates and Christian calms the situation by saying he’ll go for the steak.
Ziggy pulls up outside the garage: The shutter is half-down and the van is back inside. She sneaks in and overhears Tane on the phone to someone saying the van is hot and needs to be moved tonight and he’s not having it at his. She also notices the back of the van full of boxes of electrical equipment. When Tane has rung off, she asks him what the hell.
