After collapsing during dinner, Kirsty is rushed to hospital. Hugo’ schooner is cut loose and the search leads to a horrific discovery. Tony accepts Rachel’s return to work.
Extended Summary
After collapsing during dinner, Rachel stabilizes Kirsty and she is taken to hospital. Worried about the baby, both Miles and Kirsty want answers about what’s wrong with her, but the Doctors don’t have any. But they are able to reassure them both that the baby is okay – it has a strong heartbeat. After stabilizing Kirsty and not finding the cause of her sickness, Rachel is worried and wants to stay close to her, but is concerned about the effect this will have on Tony. With their recent arguments over work, she’s cautious over pushing the subject. After seeing the way Rachel handled Kirsty’s collapse, he is now convinced her return to work is the right thing. When he runs into Martha, she apologizes for going off at him, but he admits she was right. Rachel working is a good thing for her, and in turn a good thing for him and Harry. He’s determined to find a way to make it work.
Rachel and Dr. Young are still concerned – Kirsty is doing better, but hasn’t recovered fully and they don’t know why. When Kirsty has an unexpected seizure, she’s stabilized, but when Miles wants to know what’s happened, Rachel is heartbroken when she tells him that the baby has died.
Martha is feeling bad after having a go at Tony about Rachel’s return to work. Hugo tries to reassure her she did the right thing, but Martha’s not so sure. When heading out to secure the schooner because of the bad weather, Hugo discovers it’s missing from the mooring – the ropes have been cut. He reports this to Angelo – he believes the environmentalists that John Palmer has been inciting are responsible, but Angelo doesn’t buy it. He isn’t able to do anything about it until the morning, which only infuriates Martha and Hugo more. The next day, Angelo and Hugo head out to find the schooner sunk on a reef, but discover another boat also sunk on the reef, with a dozen dead bodies in the hold. Hugo is left shaken and in need of Martha’s support.
