As the bus jam packed with kids seems doomed, Trey turns up unexpectedly in Summer Bay. Meanwhile, the rescue team finally locate Jai, but he is seriously injured.
Extended Summary
Trey has rigged a bomb to the school bus and soon reality begins to hit home to everyone onboard that should they attempt to get off the bus it will explode. Trey tells all those onboard that it is payback for the way they’ve treated him – he has tried to apologise but none of them are willing to forgive him. With everyone onboard the bus fearing for their own safety, Trey shoots them a smile and a wave before running off.
Left alone, everyone on the bus second-guesses whether Trey was telling the truth about the bomb or whether he’s just playing mind games. When John says he’s going to get off the bus, Kirsty insists he stay onboard – Trey warned that if there’s a slight shift in the weight distribution the bus will be blown sky high. John says that Trey is just trying to get a rise out of him. Meanwhile, Nicole isn’t convinced and says she believes Trey was telling the truth. Xavier offers to check under the bus and is horrified to see a bomb attached to the undercarriage.
With fear now sweeping the bus, Kirsty and John do their best to reassure the teens that everything will be okay. Later, Nicole finds Trey’s notepad and is horrified to realise the troubled teen had been planning this for some time. Reading out Trey’s notes, Nicole is shocked when she reads that Trey believes she’s the one who could’ve prevented this from happening. Later, when John uses a mirror to check on the bomb, he’s sickened to realise Trey has set a timer and it is set to detonate in just over one hour’s time.
Running through the bush, Trey stops and removes a plastic bag full of everyone’s mobile phones from his rucksack. Checking to see if the phones can get a signal, he soon throws them down a crack in a cliff top before continuing to flee.
Jai’s condition continues to deteriorate as Alf, Miles and the others rush him to hospital, unaware of the drama unfolding back on the bus. At the hospital, doctors fear Jai’s wounds may have turned septic and order immediate blood tests. Later, the doctor advises Miles that he is going to have to inform the police about Jai’s accident.
Meanwhile, Bartlett becomes increasingly concerned when he realises that the students aren’t back at school and he can’t get in contact with anyone.
