Hayley’s world is turned upside down. Scott’s devastated as his relationship with Hayley crumbles around him. Peter and Noelene have a heated showdown.
Extended Summary
Hayley is rushed in to the hospital by Irene, Leah and Josie. Flynn is quick to tend to her. Josie hangs back, feeling useless – and incredibly guilty. Meanwhile, Peter brings Dan home drunk, with a black eye. Noelene is horrified and rips into Peter – she knew he couldn’t be trusted.
Kim and Hyde race in to the hospital, frantic. Where is she? Is it the baby?! Irene glares at Josie in response – clearly blaming her. Flynn explains that the pain has stopped for now and her blood pressure is normal… Kim wants to know if it’s the baby? Flynn explains the ultrasound should tell them more. Hayley and Kim are beside themselves with worry.
Peter emerges from Dan’s room to find Noelene waiting for him, spoiling for a fight… An argument quickly escalates and Noelene accuses Peter of trying to destroy this marriage before it even starts. Peter doesn’t want to get into any of this but he’s taken her criticism for years and now it’s time he going to have his say. He tells her he’s never going to be the person she wants him to be. So, after the wedding, they never have to see each other again. As far as he’s concerned – he has no mother. Once Peter goes, Noelene is upset. Helen comes in and comforts her.
Flynn studies the ultrasound, explaining its good news – the baby seems to be fine. There’s immense relief from Hayley and Kim, but they wonder what caused the pain then. Flynn doesn’t know. Meanwhile, Beth finds Scott passed out on the beach. He can’t believe what he’s done. Beth cuts over him, there’s something he needs to know. Scott rushes into the hospital, wanting to see Hayley, insistent. When Hayley says she doesn’t want to see him, he’s crushed.
Josie arrives home, still feeling bad. Fighting back the tears, she dumps her things and moves to pour herself a drink, passing the box with the paternity test results in it, totally oblivious.
Scott’s opens up to Beth, explaining none of this mess would ever have happened if things turned out like they were meant to – if this were his baby, he and Hayley would still be together, they’d have a perfect life together…
Scott enters the room, telling Hayley they need to talk. Kim immediately orders Scott out but Scott, remaining focussed on Hayley, says how sorry and how much he loves her. Kim gets in Scott’s face, again telling him to go and the boys start to scuffle. Beth and Flynn come in to break it up. Hayley screams over the top of them to stop it! Kim glares at Scott as Flynn and Beth lead him out, leaving Scott and Hayley to talk. Scott moves to her side, tries to take her hand – but Hayley pulls it away. Scott’s heart is breaking, as he begs her to understand – he never meant to hurt her, the thing with Josie was nothing… Hayley doesn’t want him even trying to defend himself, she just wants him to go.
Irene, Hyde and Kim are back with Hayley, who’s insisting she’s okay after the Scott thing. The moment is interrupted by a serious Flynn coming in. He has her results. He explains that Hayley has a condition knows as cardiomyopathy. Flynn explains that if the condition gets worse, then she could die – and given the extra pressure on her heart because of the pregnancy… Hayley can’t believe what she’s hearing, as Flynn explains the treatment can’t happen while she’s pregnant. He makes Hayley’s dilemma clear – in order to remove the risk to her life by having the treatment, she’ll need to abort the baby…
