Dan and Leah’s relationship crumbles in the wake of her deception. As he struggles for survival in hospital, Jesse’s past comes back to haunt him. Scott discovers Josie’s duplicity.
Extended Summary
Jesse is rushed to hospital where it’s discovered that he has alcohol poisoning. Flynn tells Hayley this was no mistake; Jesse meant to do this. Hayley asks Jesse why he’d do that. Jesse says he felt bad enough that he destroyed his own life, but he’s totally destroyed Leah’s as well and hates himself. His fight is gone.
Leah pleads with Dan not to leave, but all Dan keeps thinking about is that she lied to him. He decides to give it another night, but sleeps on the lounge. Colleen feels horrible about the situation.
Scott apologises to Hayley for reacting to her and Kim getting closer together. She appreciates his apology. Alf says they should be angry at Josie. He can’t believe she cut them out of the marina deal and is still turning against the community. Scott confronts her about it and Josie tries to subtly defend herself, but can’t. Then she finds out Jesse’s in the hospital and decides to go visit him.
Jesse starts to experience hallucinations: Josie taunting that she left him because he wasn’t good enough for her. These are his fears and insecurities surfacing. Flynn and the nurses calm him, but then the real Josie comes to comfort him, worried his problem might be her fault. But Jesse tells her it’s nothing of the sort and insults her until she leaves. It’s obvious he still has feelings for her.
Dan decides to leave. Leah’s crushed. Word filters quickly around the Bay and people blame Jesse for what happened. Leah says it’s no-one’s fault but her own. Alf tries to talk sense into Dan and his words seem to have an effect.
Flynn comes in and warns Jesse he needs to get himself together. Jesse assures Flynn that this is a new beginning. But it’s a beginning that could be very short-lived because as Hayley walks through the Surf Club storeroom, she finds the makings of a Molotov cocktail. It was Jesse all along!
Peter visits Leah and tells her to be patient, Dan will come to his senses. Leah thinks things might be looking up until Dan comes to collect his things. The engagement’s still off. It’s the end of a relationship.
Josie rings her secret liaison to tell him the pressure’s too much, she wants him to hurry up and get there. Josie ends the call and realizes Scott’s heard the whole thing. She’s going to have to tell him everything.
