Cassie makes a brave stand against Ben. Zoe’s heartache leads to an explosive public showdown. As Hayley, Scott and Kim wait anxiously to discover who the baby’s father is, the Stalker switches the paternity results!
Extended Summary
Cassie talks to the police about what Uncle Ben did to her. Flynn and Sally’s support is invaluable to the nervous teen. An investigation begins. Constable Fitzgerald takes Ben in for questioning and he accuses Cassie of being a liar.
Hayley and Scott are back from the city and Irene thanks Scott for being such a rock for Hayley. Scott says he wouldn’t want it any other way – he loves her. Poor Kim isn’t dealing with the situation so well. He tries to talk to Zoe at the Diner, but she cuts him off and announces to all and sundry that Hayley is pregnant and the father might be Scott or Kim. The Hunters are shocked. Kim goes over to Hayley at the Beach House and tells them what happened. There’s similar shock. Scott faces a barrage of question at home but says he doesn’t want a big deal made of it until they know who the father is.
Graham’s decided to head off to Vietnam to work on a service project. Beth’s proud of him. For the first time he’s opening up to her and the family. Beth realises he does love her. The healing has begun.
Cassie decides that she needs to confront Ben over what he did to her. Sally and Flynn aren’t sure, but she’s determined. When she gets to the station, Ben calls her a liar, but Cassie’s taking no guff from him. He took something away from her and now she’s taking it back. It’s a heartfelt speech that silences Ben and empowers Cassie. But Cassie still has the issue of Joy to sort out and she’s feeling alone and scared. Where will she go? She’s got no-one. Flynn has a chat with her about letting Joy go in dignity. Cassie decides he’s right. She says her heartfelt goodbyes to the comatose Joy and then kisses her goodbye.
Sally decides with Flynn that Cassie’s been so strong and is such a great girl that she deserves a helping hand. They offer to take her in to their house as one of their family. Cassie is overwhelmed at this show of love and support. She accepts. She also thanks Ric for being so strong for her over since Joy collapsed. Then they all go in to Joy’s room and the life-support is turned off. Cassie breaks down crying. Her grandma is gone.
Hayley goes to have it out with Zoe after what she did, letting her know how disgraceful it was and how down Kim is. Zoe tries to defend herself but Hayley doesn’t care. Zoe’s left feeling ashamed. She goes and apologises to Kim and he accepts. She also lets out that the Stalker is still out there. Mark’s not the man. Later that day, Hayley gets call from the hospital – the paternity results are through! But later that night a black figure creeps into the hospital and switches the paternity results. What’s going on here? Is it the Stalker?
