***

WHARF
Dani walks up and down, looking distinctly worried, before walking off.

DINER
Leah is exhausted and Jesse wants her to get some rest – after all, she IS pregnant. They voice opne positive in the situation – they won’t have to cope with the kid when it’s born, but Jesse jokingly reckons that the baby will be spending lots of time with ‘Auntie Leah’
Dani wonders whether Alf has heard from Scott as she can’t get him on his mobile. Alf is sure they’d have radioed in if there was anything wrong, but knows Scott’s mobile can’t be out of range – they have a good signal within the charter area. They conclude his mobile must be out of batteries.

BLAXLAND
Scott is peering through his binoculars for any sign of life on the horizon, and things between he and Kane are frosty one again. Kane knows it’ll be night soon, and they decide to keep their last flare until dark. He is sure that a search will be out looking ‘for Scott’, and Scott dismisses it – they’ll be looking for both of them. Scott accepts Kane’s apology for ‘earlier’, and realises that, had the Campbell’s been found alive, the rescue boats would already be out. He knows that he’ll be in big trouble, but Kane is adamant that they BOTH will. Scott doesn’t want to pass the buck.

CARAVAN PARK
A hysterical Dani voices her concerns to Beth and Rhys, and although Beth is optimistic, Rhys is adamant that as Kane was on board, anything could have happened – Kirsty ran off for a reason, and there’s no saying what state of mind Kane is in. Upon calling Alf, Dani realises that he too is getting worried.

SURF CLUB
Alf receives no reply when he attempts to radio the Blaxland, and Dani worries about the possibility of the boat having sunk. Alf is confused – other boats in the area should have seen a flare if something was wrong onboard the Blaxland. As there is no way to contact them, Alf decides to call coastal patrol. He is adamant that Scott is sensible, and Kane knows what he’s doing – they should be fine. Rhys isn;t convinced, but Alf dismisses his concerns.

Later, there is still no news and there’s not a lot of daylight left either. Jesse is optimistic – after all, the Blaxland is used to being out overnight, and there are plenty of supplies on board. Rhys takes another opportunity to snipe at Kane, but Alf once again overrides it – Kane being on board is a good thing, as he knows his way around the engine, and he has proven himself to be good in an emergency.
Alf wonders whether they’d have gone out of the area, and Dani pesters him into giving coastal patrol another call. For a change, Dani decides to be hopeful, telling Beth that it isn’t the biggest thing they’ve been through that year, and therefore Scott should be fine.
Beth takes an oportunity to pull Rhys aside, and he is confused at her harsh words that he should take a leaf from his daughter’s book.

Outside, Beth looks set to crumble as Leah enters the scene. The woman hug, with Beth looking pretty close to tears.

SURF CLUB
There’s still no news, but Dani is irritated that there is just one rescue team out, thinking that they should ALL be out there looking. Rhys continues his campaign against Kane, vocally stating that it’s an awfully big coincidence that both the radio and engine should fail… Beth approaches to him to utter the immortal line… “we need to talk”

GYM
Rhys stands his ground over his thoughts regarding Kane, and Beth is angry that his hatred for Kirsty’s husband is eating away at him like a cancer. All Rhys can do whilst everyone around worries is make innuendo about Kane having hurt Scott.. For once, Dani is being positive and he seems to be doing his damndest to bring her down with his obsession – Beth demands that it stop. However, instead of offering an apology for his behaviour, Rhys stands firm on his viewpoint – Kane has attacked his daughter, put her through hell ‘in prison’, taken Kirsty away and gloated about it – the only reason he thinks badly of Kane is because Kane always lives up to the expectations. Beth reminds him of Kane’s many heroic actions, and the fact that his love for Kirsty can’t be doubted. She again urges him to try and put the hate behind him – because his actions are changing the way that she feels about him. He is no longer the man that she married.

Outside, Rhys catches up with Beth to offer an apology for upsetting her – he wants to do whatever it takes to put things right, as she’s everything to him. Beth tells him that he must want to change for himself , and although it may not be easy, and Kane’s history will be impossible to forget, he must get past his hate for everyone’s sake.

BREAK

SURF CLUB
Alf explains the situation to a police officer, reciting the reason for the boat being out and who and what equipment is on board. Theyt go for a lookmat the charts. Rhys is all of a sudden much more optimistic when addresssing Beth and Dani, although now Beth is the one with a long face. It seems that her worries may not be misplaced, as Alf is concerned about the effectiveness of the search boats at night – they need a whole fleet to cover the area, and the boat could have drifted anywhere – either that or the Yanks have talked them into going out of the zone. He reckons that he should have been on board, but Jesse reenforces Alf’s earlier optimism – Kane’s competent enough, and they should be fine. Dani points Rhys towards the gym, where Beth has headed off alone.

In the gym, Rhys tells Beth that everything is going fine at home – even her kids are pulling their weight. As Beth finally starts to break and Rhys moves to comfort her, Dani calls them through.

A police officer tells the gathered party thatthe search has been called off for the night, as it’s too dangerous for the men, and he advises everyone to go and get some rest.

Beth and Leah have a chat in the gym, realising that Kirsty has not yet been informed of events. But with any luck she’ll not need to know anything. Beth is grateful that Leah is being so positive, and Leah encourages her to trust her instincts. Dani joins the ‘girls-only’ chat session to reminise about Scott, telling them what can only be described as a soppy story involving Scott and a shell. Beth reckons that more good than bad will come out of the night – “call it mother’s instinct!”.

BLAXLAND
Scott hears a ships horm in the distance, and chucks a pillow at Kane to wake him. Stumbling up on top of the boat, they light a flare, wave their arms about, and make lots of noise.

WHARF
It is light by the time Kane, Scott and the Blaxland arrive back, and Scott is given a warm greeting, although Alf is shocked to hear that they managed to lose their passengers. Kane is stood all alone, and Rhys decides it would be a good time to confront him. Kane is confused and shaken not to find Kirsty there, and jumps to the conclusion that Rhys is trying to keep them apart. Surprisingly, all Rhys wants is to know his side of the story, but Kane isn’t in any mood to listen, angrily telling him””She’s my wife, you can’t stop me from seeing her!” before storming away. No one makes a move to let him know what is going on with Kirsty.

DINER
Alf and Kane discuss the missing divers, and Alf knows that Kane would have done his best out there. Alf is also feeling bad about the engine. As Jesse arrives, Kane questions whether he knows what is up with Kirsty, as no one else – not even Beth – will tell him anything. Jesse isn’t much help, as he didn’t even know Kirsty was gone.

THE PALACE
Scott is regretting not listening to Kane in regards to the engine – he put money first, and was trying too hard to please his customers. The phone rings – it’s the police.

CARAVAN PARK
Rhys and Beth are finally back home, and Beth is still off with Rhys. She seems less than enthusiastic about Max’s birthday celebrations, her main worry being that she never said anything to kane at the wharf – he deserves to know where Kirsty is.

THE PALACE
The police question Kane and Scott about the charter, and the truth is told… until Kane tells them that the engine was fine, and that he checked it over the day before the charter. Scott backs this up, but the police will be looking at it anyway. As the Campbells have been gone for over 36 hours, there is little if any hope left for them.

CARAVAN PARK
Scott tells Dani, Rhys and Beth about Kane’s lie, but although Kane thought he was doing the right thing, Scott knows how suss it will look when the police see the state of the engine. His attempt to do good was actually a stuff up, and Rhys wryly comments that Kane is a “walking disaster area”. Scott isn’t interesting in blaming Kane, and knows that he is to blame – he’ll be the one in trouble with the law if the Campbells aren’t found.

BLAXLAND
The police take away what remains of the Campbell’s belongings. Scott is informed that the radio didn’t pack in – it was sabotaged – and wonder whether he has any enemies… Scott’s mind flashes back to the fight with Kane on the boat, before he tells the policeman that there are no enemies he can think of…
