Bree’s left shaken. Mali grapples with his feelings. Dana gives John an ultimatum.

Extended Summary

Remi and Bree go for a lengthy ride on his motorbike, pulling up outside his house. Remi comments on that being the first thing she wanted to do when coming back to town. Bree tells him she was diagnosed with OCD but doesn’t want the hospital to know since she’s still worried about it stalling her career. Remi wonders what else she’s missed and jokingly suggests dinner at the Diner before they kiss.

Back at the caravan park house, Roo expresses astonishment at the fact Bree left Alf. Alf continues to be sympathetic, saying it’s luckily Levi was there and she seemed genuinely sorry. He asks Roo to move on and Roo asks if he has, saying it’s a long time since she’s seen him this upset. Alf admits he doesn’t know why it still affects him. Roo says at least he’s fit and Alf says he’s glad she’s back, admitting he owes Marilyn an apology.

Mackenzie approaches Mali at the surf club and he notes he’s busy and doesn’t want to get into her crush theory. John overhears and asks who has a crush. Mackenzie jokes that women have been coming into Salt asking about the silver fox lifesaver. John retreats and Mali avoids the conversation. Outside, John finds Dana kissing Xander and notes that’s not the sort of mouth to mouth she’s meant to be doing in uniform. Xander and Dana make jokes about her CPR and hand signals. Dana asks if she can drive the buggy and John says he doesn’t have a death wish.

At the Diner, Marilyn is telling Leah and Justin she doesn’t blame Alf for having a go at her. Alf and Roo arrive and Alf apologises for getting stuck into Marilyn. He wants to leave but is convinced to stay for a tea. Roo gives Leah and Justin a brief update on Ryder before going into the kitchen to talk to Marilyn. She asks about Bree who Marilyn says isn’t even going to be disciplined since she took leave before the tribunal could do anything.

At the Lyrik house, Remi and Bree are playfully leaving the bedroom. Bree says she’s not ashamed of her diagnosis and has the tools to deal with it now. Roo arrives and notes she thought she’d find Bree there. Bree tries to apologise but Roo is angry, saying Alf was her patient and she let him down. Bree flees into the garden and Remi stops Roo following her.

Remi follows Bree out and confirms that Roo is still there. Bree wonders if she should go back in and let Roo have a go at her rather than hiding out there. Remi says she doesn’t need that and he’ll handle it. He goes back inside and tells Roo that Bree isn’t coming back in and he’s not going to let her go out to her. Roo tries to argue about how upset Alf is but Remi simply replies that Roo should be with him then. Roo makes a scornful noise and walks away.

Dana continues to argue with John about being stuck in the past. They stop by Mali, and Dana asks him whether he treats any employees differently and whether he trusts Abigail less than Kirby because she’s not been there as long. Mali is a bit nervous about the question but backs her up. John insists he treats his lifesavers equally and says respect is rewarded with a lift, driving off without her.

At the Diner, Leah tries to give Alf some food, saying there was a mix-up. Alf looks at Marilyn, who confirms she told them he hadn’t been eating. Alf says if he wants food he’ll ask for it. Justin says he’ll have to worry when they stop fussing. Roo arrives back and tells them about going to see Bree and being thrown out by Remi. She wants to go to the hospital. Alf tells her to leave it and walks out. Leah approaches Roo for a catch-up.

John stops Mackenzie outside the surf club and asks if she thinks he treats his staff equally. Mackenzie says he does and John says he was just double-checking, noting he came up against an overly sensitive Gen Z. Mackenzie goes over to Mali who says he’d pay $50 to avoid the conversation, before admitting that Mackenzie’s questioning has made him realise he does like Abigail. They walk down to the beach where Mali acknowledges that, even aside from living and working together, Abby isn’t ready for a relationship at the moment. Mackenzie suggests she might be in a couple of months.

Bree and Remi are walking near the beach. Bree is still worried about Roo causing trouble. Remi says he’s just remembered he has to sort something with Theo and tells her to go on ahead. Back at the caravan park house, Roo continues to insist to Alf that they have to stop what happened to him happening to someone else. Remi arrives and tells them that Bree has been diagnosed with a mental health condition. He refuses to give details but says she’s getting help. Roo is still sceptical but Alf convinces her to drop it.

At Salt, Xander asks Bree about her trip away but accepts her not giving him details. Remi arrives, saying he sorted it out. Bree is worried about Roo walking in and Remi tells her not to worry about that. At the bar, Dana is complaining to Xander about John, saying he lets other lifesavers drive the buggy and the only difference she can see is that they’re male. At the Diner, Marilyn talks to Leah and Justin about how worried she is about what’s going on at home. Leah suddenly realises she’s lost her wedding and engagement rings.

Xander tries to tell Dana not to go in with John, who can hear her in the office as she calls him old-fashioned, misogynistic and a dinosaur. She storms into the office, asking the reason he won’t let her drive the buggy. John says she knows the reason but Dana calls him old-fashioned and antiquated and accuses him of being afraid of strong independent women, saying if he doesn’t let her drive he can take her off the roster.
