Episode 8289

Extended Summary

Remi is busking outside the surf club and attracting a crowd. Bronte dances over in order to place a note in his case and continues dancing to the music. Dana points out her behaviour to Xander but he thinks she’s just enjoying the time she has left. Meanwhile, Mali is at the farm house on the phone to Elandra, who is by the side of a country road. Neither of them have heard from Iluka or the Allens in two days, and Mali worries that Iluka is dead. Elandra tells him not to think like that but once she’s ended the call and got back inside her car, she lets out a yell of frustration.

At Salt, Felicity gives Xander an update on ordering stock. They and Dana notice Bronte coming in. Xander introduces Felicity and Bronte to each other. Bronte thanks Felicity for the donation and tearfully talks about how much it means to her. Outside, Remi is packing up. Theo comes along and Remi notes he’ll have earned enough to pay the bill by Christmas. He asks about getting the band up and running. Theo says he has to run the garage with Justin away, plus Leah’s stressed about the lawsuits. He heads off to do a parts run. Felicity calls down to Remi, offering him a free breakfast for the free gig.

Mali is tidying up the farm house. Elandra turns up and they share a hug. She says the Allens haven’t been back to their place and notes they’ve never gone this far before. Mali says Nat was cold and Elandra says she doesn’t know what Iluka saw in her. Mali worries what Campbell would do to him after stabbing Levi. At that moment, a vehicle pulls up by the roadside. Gordie and Campbell (who has his arm in a sling) drag the unconcious Iluka out of the back and dump him. Campbell kicks him until Nat winds the window down and says that’s enough. They drive off.

Elandra checks with Mali that Levi’s all right. Mali isn’t sure. Elandra says he and Mackenzie shouldn’t have been dragged into it and Mali says none of them should. Elandra says she wouldn’t have sent Iluka there if she’d known how much trouble he was in. She asks how much Rose knows. Mali says he hasn’t told her anything but she’s suspicious. He doesn’t want to ask her for help.

At Salt, Felicity serves Remi his meal and he notes she managed to get Eden over the line to come and work there. Felicity thinks it was being broke that did that. Remi decides he needs to start doing session work again. Nearby, Dana tries to convince Xander of her theory about Bronte and shows him the link to the clinical trial…which now leads to a page about a hospital, which Xander takes as evidence that it’s been fixed.

At the Diner, Marilyn comments that Irene hasn’t touched her afternoon tea. Leah turns up and says she’s explained the situation to Joseph and he’s thinking about it. She notes at least he listened and hopes Irene can get Bronte to do the right thing as well. Bronte turns up in answer to Irene’s summons and Irene suggests they go for a walk.

Theo is driving along a country road and finds Iluka staggering along. Iluka says he fell off some stairs. Theo wants to take him to Emergency but he says to take him to Mali. Meanwhile, Elandra helps Mali put the house straight. She wants to go to the Allens’ and wait for them to turn up. Theo arrives with the injured Iluka. Mali says he thought he was dead and Iluka says he doesn’t get rid of him that easily.

On the beach, Irene has told Bronte about Leah talking to Joseph and them not getting the insurance money. Bronte says she’ll withdraw her claim as well. Irene apologises for getting her hopes up. Bronte says she’s got the crowdfunding page but the compensation money would have helped. She says she’ll move out and get her affairs in order. Irene tells her not to do that or drop the claim: She’ll find the money somehow.

Elandra tends to Iluka. Theo explains about wanting to take him to hospital and thinks he should get checked out. Elandra thanks him for bringing him home and says they’ve got this. Mali walks Theo to the door and asks him to keep it to himself, saying the less he knows the better. Theo agrees. Elandra sees bruises on Iluka’s chest. Mali says it’s not right but Iluka says the Allens have made their point and he gave as good as he got even at two to one. Later, Mali rants about what the Allens have done. Elandra says laying into Iluka doesn’t help. Iluka starts coughing up blood and Elandra tells Mali to call an ambulance.

Xander tries to reassure Dana over making a mistake but Dana doesn’t think she has. Felicity suggests donating 10% of the weekend’s takings to Bronte’s crowdfunding. Remi jokes about setting up a crowdfunding page to pay the bills. Dana isn’t happy to hear Felicity praising Bronte and leaves. Theo turns up for a drink, making Remi curious.

At the Diner, Leah gets off the phone to Joseph’s lawyer and tells Irene and Dana that Joseph has dropped the case. She decides to go and visit Justin and Ava, and Irene readily agrees. After Leah’s gone, Dana asks if Bronte’s dropping her case as well and Irene says it’s not the same situation. Dana wonders why Leah was so happy. Irene says she told Leah what she wanted to hear and will find the money for Bronte herself.

Iluka is carried out of the house by paramedics. Elandra says they’ll follow him on. She looks back at Mali who says the Allens have to pay for this.
