Extended Summary

Bree is examining Iluka at the hospital. She tells a nurse to do basic vitals and order an ECG, then takes Mali and Elandra aside and asks them what happened. Mali claims Iluka fell down some stairs. Bree heads back in after telling the pair they’ll have to wait out there and she’ll keep them updated. At Salt, Xander shows Bronte the sign for the fundraiser Felicity suggested, explaining they’ll tally it up at the end of the weekend. Dana turns up and makes her disapproval clear, saying she’ll keep her money. Bronte says it wasn’t her idea and Dana says Bronte’s good at making people think things are their idea, noting she’s ripping off Irene and it still isn’t enough for her. Xander insists Dana come with him.

Downstairs, Rose finds Kirby is still running the board shop on her own and Mali hasn’t turned up for days. Kirby also hasn’t heard from Iluka and Rose explains the brothers are connected to what happened to Levi. Xander and Dana come downstairs arguing. Rose tells them to take it down a notch and they storm off in opposite directions. At the hospital, Iluka tells Bree he was playing football. Bree asks if he was the ball and says his injuries are consistent with a beating. Iluka doesn’t respond but does ask about Levi. Bree says his injuries were serious but he should make a full recovery.

Dana goes to the Diner looking for Irene and Marilyn tells her she’s gone home for the day. Dana asks her opinion on Bronte. Marilyn says she seems nice and it’s terrible what’s happening to her. Dana wonders why no-one is questioning her story and asks about Bronte suing Irene when Marilyn isn’t. Marilyn gives non-commital answers and, when Dana says Irene’s paying for it with her own money, says Irene knows what she’s doing. Dana thinks Irene’s heading for disaster. Marilyn doesn’t like seeing her friends argue. Dana agrees and says Bronte comes between people.

Bree tells Mali and Elandra that Iluka has bruised organs and possible internal bleeding but they’re hoping it will resolve itself without surgery. She mentions their different versions of how he was injured and her theory about him being assaulted, asking to call the police. Mali says Iluka wouldn’t want that and, when Bree presses the matter, says she’s under no obligation to call them and to leave it. Elandra wants to see Iluka but Mali wanders off and calls the Allens, saying they need to meet face to face and to meet him near the skate park at 5pm or he’ll come find them. Elandra appears behind him and hopes it wasn’t Nat Allen he was speaking to. She tells him to leave it but Mali insists it’s not over.

At Salt, Rose tries to ask Xander about Dana, saying he was pretty hard on her and they need to keep communicating. Xander says Dana doesn’t stop communicating. Bronte comes in and apologises, saying Dana’s obviously got an issue with her. Xander says she can get fixated on things. Nearby, Rose tells Kirby what little she knows. Kirby recalls Rose and Mali both warned her about Iluka. Rose says she didn’t think he was involved in something like this and wishes Mali would trust her.

At the hospital, Elandra tells Mali he’ll end up a patient there or worse. Mali insists he’s got it. Elandra says they were scared about losing their brother and now he’s doing it to her again. Mali tells her to keep an eye on Iluka. As he walks away, he calls Dean, saying he needs a favour. Soon after, Mali is waiting by the roadside. A jeep pulls up and the two men inside, Rory and Dingo, greet him. Rory tells Dingo to get in the back and Mali gets in next to him before they drive off.

Back at the hospital, Elandra watches as Bree examines Iluka, who insists he’s all right. After Bree’s gone, Iluka asks where Mali is. Elandra just says he’s not happy with him. She asks about the Allens and Iluka admits they’re out of control. Elandra says Nat used to be the voice of reason. Iluka says they’ve changed and the Hudsons need to stay away from them.

Mali, Rory and Dingo drive up at the skate park where Nat, Campbell and Gordie are waiting. Mali tells his two companions not to do anything unless he tells them and tells the Allens they’re just there to make sure things are fair. Noting Campbell’s sling, he notes Iluka did some damage despite it being two to one. He demands a one-on-one fight without weapons. Campbell takes off the sling and steps forward but Nat tells him to get back and sends Gordie up. At the surf club, Kirby is texting Iluka, noting he might text back this time. Rose ponders which of them is likely to hear from a Hudson brother first. Xander comes over as Rose gets a call from Elandra. She answers it and looks shocked.

Mali and Gordie are now fighting. Gordie gets Mali in a choke hold but Mali manages to throw him down. Nat tells Campbell to get in there and finish it. Campbell steps forward but backs off when Rory and Dingo do the same. Gordie says he’s got it. Mali knocks him down again and Gordie throws grit in Mali’s face.

Dana is looking at the website in a park area as Bree appears. Bree starts to talk to her about Iluka but Dana’s attention wavers when she sees Bronte. She strides up to her and says the website looks cobbled together with cut and paste. Bronte claims Xander called her a drama queen. Dana notes Bronte likes turning people against each other and says she’s making it her personal crusade to prove she’s a liar. As Bronte walks away, she rings someone saying they’ve got a problem.

Mali and Gordie continue struggling. Gordie throws Mali down and mockingly says Iluka was on the floor crying by now. Mali knocks him down and begins repeatedly punching him. Nat looks at Campbell and produces a knife. Rory and Dingo step up again but then three police cars arrive, led by Rose, who pulls Mali off Gordie. Reynolds checks with Rory and Dingo, who say they’re just there for the show. Mali aggressively tells Rose to let him carry on and asks if she’s going to arrest him. One of the other officers finds the knife and Rose tells Mali to tell her who stabbed Levi. Mali asks how she knew he was there and Rose replied she’s got secrets too. At Salt, Xander serves a customer and ignores a text from Dana. Rose turns up and says she’s never seen Mali like that.

Mali goes back to the hospital and says Elandra was the only person that knew where he was going. Elandra says she called his girlfriend. Mali says half the police force turned up. He admits they arrested the Allens and Rose let him go. Elandra thinks that and Mali being alive are a good outcome. Mali says he was this close to making it right and that Elandra is going home satisfied. Elandra says she’s not going anywhere: Mali and Iluka are both on the wrong path and she doesn’t trust them.
