Extended Summary

Felicity is getting dressed for work, somewhat hampered by Tane manhandling her and asking her to stay and celebrate: He’s decided to go back to running boot camps. They note he can’t get an official all-clear with Logan gone. Felicity says she has to get to work and convinces him to come with her. They arrive at Salt just as Cash joins Rose at the bar. Rose asks Felicity for a glass of red. Cash tries to get her to come back outside but Rose says they’re done and takes her drink to a table. Cash admits to Felicity that he’s made things worse. He leaves.

Cash runs into Xander downstairs and asks what he expected to happen. He says Rose isn’t okay but he’s not the person to fix it. As Xander goes up, Cash answers a call from Jasmine, asking about the drive and saying he misses her. Upstairs, Felicity jokingly offers Rose a tissue or tequila but Rose retorts she doesn’t need anything from her, least of all judgement. Felicity retreats and rejoins Tane, kissing him. Xander arrives and Rose criticises him for ambushing her, saying some things are better left unsaid. Xander orders drinks and takes Rose out onto the balcony. Tane guesses Felicity is dying to know what’s going on. Rose asks if Xander told Cash she had feelings for him but he says he didn’t. Rose relates what Cash said about it being a mistake and feels mortified, worrying about him telling Jasmine.

Next morning, Xander meets Cash on the beach and accuses him of making things worse. Cash says Xander was the one who wanted them to talk and isn’t going to tell Jasmine. Xander tells him to clear his conscience without humiliating his sister next time. Meanwhile, Tane and Felicity wake up together with her commenting on how his bed is so much better than the one at the caravan park. She suggests breakfast. Tane says she should cook since it’s his first day back. Felicity notices his scar and says she was scared of losing him. Tane promises to stay away from sharp objects in future.

At the Diner, Marilyn tells Irene she needs time to take Tex through everything, despite Irene pointing out Alf taught her in an afternoon. Tex turns up and orders the big breakfast. Marilyn protests he doesn’t have time since he needs to open up. Tex says he already has and is also going to go to the surf club to check tide times. Marilyn tries to get him to have the breakfast to go but he insists he has time. Down on the beach, Felicity invites Cash to breakfast and asks about him and Rose. Cash snaps at her to drop it before saying he told Rose nothing would happen. Felicity says that, unless he has feelings for her too, that was the right thing. Cash worries he made things awkward. Felicity says he did that when he stayed out all night with her.

Marilyn tells Irene that Tex is on top of things, giving the credit to her training. Cash turns up and says Jasmine told him that Wendy’s comfortable. Irene asks him again about having Rose and Xander round for dinner but he abruptly refuses. Meanwhile, Xander and Rose are walking near the surf club with her unhappy that he talked to Cash. They pass Tex, who greets Rose as “Officer”: When he’s gone past, he murmurs “Nice.” Rose and Xander approach the coffee cart where Cash is waiting to go to work with Rose. Irene offers them coffee and Rose declines. Irene privately apologises to Cash for pushing things over the dinner, saying she’ll wait for him to tell her it’s time. Xander asks for a coffee. Cash and Rose have been assigned highway patrol and both make for the driver’s side. Cash offers Rose the key but she says he can drive.

Tane is finishing off a class on the beach. Felicity joins him and he notes that he feels bad about letting his class down, since he couldn’t tell them why he had time off. He comments on things getting back to how they used to be. Felicity heads back to the Parata house and starts packing her bag but has only put a few things in it before she stops, stroking the bed forlornly.

Cash and Rose are driving in awkward silence. Cash pulls the car over, wanting to talk. Rose denies thinking they’re anything other than colleagues and having interest in him. She says they shouldn’t socialise outside of work: They’ll still see each other at family events but keep things professional at work. Cash reluctantly drives on. At the Diner, Tex is eating while Marilyn congratulates him on his work, although Irene thinks he’s over the top. Marilyn says they need to go to the caravan park so she can show him everything. Tex says he was hoping to go to the surf club again during his lunch break but Marilyn insists there’s no time and takes his half-finished meal away from him. She tells Irene she’s not going to throw Tex in the deep end unsupervised like Alf did her.

Tane comes home to find Felicity making a meal. He claims he set a new personal best on the bench press, with Felicity taking a moment to realise he’s teasing. He recalls they forgot to celebrate and drags her into the bedroom but is shocked to see her bag there. Felicity reminds him her staying there was only temporary and she’s moving back home now she isn’t needed. Later, Felicity is finishing her packing but Tane stops her and asks her to move in with him.
