Extended Summary

Theo and Chloe are down on the beach. They discuss the fact he’s done his last community service. Chloe thinks they should celebrate: A quick swim and then lunch. Theo says he has to get started on a TAFE assignment that’s due in two days. Nikau, who was working as a lifeguard nearby, comes past and tells them to get a room. Theo tries to get away but Chloe convinces him to at least join her for a swim first. At the Parata house, Felicity is thrown by Tane’s suggestion she move in. No-one’s ever asked her that before and he’s never asked anyone that before. Tane worries he’s scared her off, but after checking it’s not a kneejerk reaction that he wants to withdraw, Felicity says yes.

At the Diner, Leah and Justin celebrate having the house to themselves, although Leah is worried they haven’t seen Theo and Chloe in days. Justin suggests it’s good Nikau and Tane have made Theo feel welcome. Irene tells them she’s lost Marilyn, who’s supposed to be working but went to the caravan park to show Tex the ropes. Marilyn arrives and dodges out of Irene’s questions. Leah asks to be filled in. Down at the beach, Theo and Chloe have finished their swim. Theo wants to go and get on with his assignment while Chloe wants to have lunch. She flirtatiously suggests he call her when he can fit her in and he agrees to coffee.

At the Diner, Marilyn is telling Leah and Justin how capable Tex is, but still turns down Justin’s offer to take him out for a drink, saying he needs to work. Irene and Leah comment on Marilyn being a tough boss. Theo and Chloe come in and Leah pretends to not recognise them. Chloe tells them about Theo finishing community service. Justin asks about the assignment and Theo awkwardly says he’ll start it when he gets home. At the Parata house, Nikau is looking at a photo of him and Bella on his phone. Tane and Felicity come in and get frisky by the fridge until Nikau announces his presence. They reveal Felicity’s moving in. Nikau’s response is muted, mainly because he thought Felicity already lived there, but he congratulates them. Tane quietly checks he’s okay with it and Nikau says he’s happy for him.

Marilyn asks if she can get Theo and Chloe something else. Chloe suggests another coffee but Theo declines. He looks distracted and tells Chloe he needs to get home to do the assignment, and he can’t concentrate while she’s there. Chloe looks upset and Theo leaves. Justin follows him, catching up with him in a park area. Theo says it felt like Chloe was pressuring him: She can do assignments easily while he needs days. Justin says he and Leah will look after Chloe while Theo can do his work.

Chloe asks Leah if she’s got a shift she can take, saying if she’s not hanging out with Theo, she has nothing else to do. Leah reminds her she used to be rushed off her feet with both the work there and her own business and suggests they brainstorm ideas to get back there. Chloe hastily declines. Meanwhile, Felicity and Tane arrive at the Parata house with boxes of her stuff. Felicity quietly checks with Nikau that he’s okay with her moving in. Nikau says she’s got Tane through rough times, which makes her his sister or auntie. Felicity suggests they stick with Flick. Nikau points out he is now living with two loved-up happy couples and Felicity realises he’s missing Bella. He heads off to a shift. Tane wonders if he’s all right. Felicity asks if Tane would be if she was on the other side of the world.

Irene tells Leah that it makes sense Chloe would lean on Theo and recalls she had big plans for a business course until Matthew and Ari died and Mia left. Leah suggests she should enroll again, despite Irene thinking she’s lost interest. Leah finds Chloe near the beach and asks her about the course. Chloe says she lost her place but Leah thinks she can find another school and co-ordinate study with Theo. Chloe says she’s not interested anymore and ends up shutting down the conversation, upset, and hurrying away.

Justin sneaks into the house and catches Theo playing guitar. Theo says it was too quiet for him to concentrate, then he turned the TV on only to find it annoying, then he started listening to music and playing. Justin admits to not being a good student either and had to find a method that worked for him and practise. He sets up the laptop and calls Theo over. Meanwhile, Felicity is unpacking her things in Tane’s room and discussing Bella and Nikau being apart, before saying she has the shoes to do now. Chloe arrives home and Felicity announces she’s her new housemate. Chloe says she thought Felicity had lived there for weeks and Felicity wonders why she’s the last to know she lives there. Tane asks Chloe about Theo and Chloe admits she’s lost her plans to run her own business after what she did with Matthew. Tane suggests she ease her way back into it by helping him with the gym accounts.

Justin reads a question about the effects of fuel on different types of engines and admits it’s more detailed than he remembers. Leah comes in and is puzzled at the ocean sounds playing. Theo accuses her of distracting him. Leah gets a text from Chloe to meet up so dashes off. At the Diner, Marilyn is still typing on her phone. Irene insists she hand the phone over until the end of her shift. Leah joins Chloe, who tells her about doing the accounts but admits she’s not quite sure how. Leah says she does the Diner accounts and offers to teach her.

Tane checks on Nikau at the surf club and asks about Bella being away, wondering what he can do. Nikau says he can not talk him out of it, showing him he’s looking up flights to New York. Tane thinks it’s a great idea but suggests he needs to think about whether he can get his job back, saying to do what makes him happy. Later, Nikau gets a call from Bella and says he has news, but before he can tell her, he gets a call over the radio about a swimmer in trouble. He ends the call with Bella and hurries off.
