Extended Summary

Tane is still waiting on the rocks when Felicity rejoins him, with a food hamper and a tray of takeaway coffee. She has also changed into a less formal outfit and brought him a change of clothes. She says everyone that might wonder where he is knows he’s with her. Meanwhile, Leah and Theo are driving back into town, with Theo’s loud music playing. They pull up next to Marilyn, and Leah jokes she probably heard them five minutes ago. Theo claims Leah promised him a free breakfast and heads off. Leah tells Marilyn that the family rallied around Theo. She invites her to join them but Marilyn says Irene and Roo just got back so she’s on her way to see them.

John arrives at the garage and tells Justin that he’s seen Dimitri in town, so it’s a good job that Leah and Theo are away. Justin says they’re coming back today and gets a text from Leah saying they’ve arrived. He thinks that Dimitri must still think he can talk Theo round and doesn’t listen to anyone else’s opinion. Outside the surf club, Dean tells Ryder that next time Mackenzie has a poker night, he wants to know in advance so he can do a check on the players, and Ryder’s to call him at the first sign of trouble. Ryder says Mackenzie wouldn’t be happy but Dean retorts that the alternative is making him unhappy. After Dean has gone, John appears and asks Ryder to check in on Theo that afternoon. Ryder isn’t happy with having to be a babysitter but agrees.

Justin greets Leah and Theo at the Diner. Theo says it was good to spend time with his mum and Leah says she was more relaxed than the last time they met. They also spoke to Leah’s parents, who’ve been trying to call Dimitri without success. Meanwhile, at the caravan park house, Roo is surprised that Alf and Martha have followed her back to town, especially since Alf had her thrown out of the hospital. Marilyn arrives and is equally surprised. Alf says Martha discharged herself because she wanted to talk to Roo.

Irene serves Leah, Justin and Theo some muffins which Theo says he’ll take away. Justin offers to drive Theo home but Theo says he could use the fresh air. Justin tells Leah what John told him about Dimitri. Soon after, Theo is relaxing at home when there’s a knock at the door: It’s Dimitri, who says they never finished their conversation. Theo says they did and tries to close the door but Dimitri says they’re done when he says so and walks in.

Felicity comments that the first time she saw the ocean she thought it was beautiful: It was on a school trip when she was eleven or twelve, taking the country kids to the city to show them what they were missing. They just looked at the waves because most of them couldn’t swim. Tane says he could swim before he could walk and Felicity says Cash was the same, going to the pool and river. Tane says the river’s always scared him, because you don’t know what’s in there. Felicity says they should move into the lighthouse.

Meanwhile, Roo apologises to Martha for how difficult things were. Martha says Alf’s response was over the top and Roo agrees. Roo think it was too much for Martha to come back there. Marilyn helps Martha with her bags but she turns down Alf’s offer to help her go upstairs. Roo asks Alf why he brought her back there. Alf says she would have hitched if he hadn’t. He admits he shouldn’t have had her kicked out. Roo apologises for stirring things up.

Dimitri tells Theo he knows he went to the city, since the family have been calling him, and accuses him of telling lies. He says he fed and clothed Theo and gave him a job. Theo isn’t keen to talk, saying it never goes well. Dimitri suggests they agree to keep their hands to themselves. He says Theo could have a good job instead of a menial apprenticeship. Theo says he’d rather stay with Justin. Dimitri picks up Justin’s guitar, getting more and more heated and derisive, but quickly changes when Ryder turns up and leaves. Meanwhile, Justin and Leah are talking things over when John calls to say Dimitri’s at Salt.

John watches Dimitri from a distance until Leah and Justin turn up. They join Dimitri at the bar. He says he’s there to make things up with Theo. Leah doesn’t think it’s the right time and Dimitri accuses her of turning Theo and the rest of the family against him. Justin tries to step in and Theo tells them to go. Back at the Morgan house, Theo has filled in Ryder and admits it’s been going on for years. Ryder suggests that he or Leah go to the cops but Theo says there’s no proof and nothing he does to get away from Dimitri works.

Felicity and Tane are walking along a cliff path. Tane jokingly wonders if his telling her about his fears ruined things. Felicity admits she’s scared of him…or rather how she feels about him: She’s completely and utterly in love with him. She says it doesn’t mean she’s saying yes to babies. Tane says he loves her too and they kiss. Later, the two of them are back on the rocks and Felicity recalls the last time she declared her love to someone he fell out of a tree and broke his arm: She was a teenager and only said it to copy his homework. They wonder about having to go back to the real world.

John runs into Dean outside the surf club and asks him about the supposed hen night. Dean says Ziggy’s sleeping off a hangover. John talks to Leah and Justin, who tell him Dimitri’s already seen Theo. Back at the house, Ryder brings Theo a drink and promises to keep it between them. He leaves as Leah and Justin arrive. Theo wants to go for a walk but they suggest a family night in. Theo isn’t keen on hiding from Dimitri.

At the Diner, Roo has filled Irene in on Martha’s presence in town. Irene suggests she might have just wanted to change the way things ended. Roo thinks that she’s being evasive. Back at the house, Alf helps Martha downstairs, to her chagrin: She tells him if he wants someone to fuss over he should get a dog. Alf wonders when she’s going to tell Roo. Martha doesn’t think it’s time.

Leah and Justin banter about him giving sausages to Buddy. She suggests a board game or a movie. Justin suggests they put the game on and he give her a foot rub. Leah realises Theo isn’t in his room and wonders if he’s gone for a walk. Justin wonders if he’s run away. In fact, Theo is at Salt and joins Dimitri at the bar. Dimitri says he was surprised to get Theo’s call. Theo’s willing to talk.
