Extended Summary

Ryder and Chloe are loading up the delivery into his car and note that they can get some sleep now…at least once they’ve done their shifts. Chloe tells Ryder to pull over if he feels tired. Tori and Christian turn up with a pram as he leaves. They comment on Chloe being up early. Soon after, Tori, Christian and Grace place their order inside and chat to Irene about the wedding preparation. Irene tells Chloe she wants to thank her and Ryder for getting the power back on. She asks for the electrician’s name to pay him or an invoice. Chloe says there’s no charge.

Justin tells Leah he’s not going to do the course, he’s going to expand the business and go into panel beating. Leah offers to role play as John so he can practise telling him. When Justin suggests separating the garage, Leah predicts John will say that’s two businesses and two rents. Justin tells her to stop because it’s terrifying. At the surf club, John asks Mackenzie about Dean. She says she’s waiting for a grocery delivery and John points out it’s right next to her. She beats a retreat as John gets a call from Justin asking to meet.

Ryder finds Chloe outside the Diner and tells her the eagle has landed. She doesn’t initially understand so he explains the deliveries are done. They muse on soon being out of debt. Irene tells Ryder she owes his friend a lunch, which he takes a few moments to understand, also forgetting she’s going on holiday. Irene says he should take a catnap but Ryder doesn’t think Mackenzie would appreciate it. Soon after, he’s in Salt as Mackenzie complains about Logan not calling. Ryder suggests calling him back but Mackenzie says if you’re chasing someone you shouldn’t keep them waiting. Ryder drinks his fourth espresso and admits he’s not entirely sure who Mackenzie called.

At the hospital, Logan arrives with a patient, being trailed by concerned friends. He explains to Tori that Maria was trying to take a selfie at the lookout and climbed onto the railing, falling. She is also getting married in three weeks. Logan has a cut on his forehead and Tori tells him to get it checked out. Later, Maria gushes to Tori about how amazing Logan is. Christian arrives to take her to radiology. Tori goes to look for Logan and is exasperated to find him stitching the wound himself. She does however acknowledge that he did well at the rescue.

Mackenzie says her goodbyes to Ryder, asking him to stay awake until the next shift arrives. John arrives to see Justin and they head out onto the balcony. Justin pitches his idea of having the panel beating separate from the garage. John actually does say that another business would mean an increase in rent. Justin says it’s just an expansion of the existing business, like if the juice bar started selling coffees. John says he’ll think about it. Outside, Ryder is putting some stuff in the bin. John comes along and complains that the bin is blocking a throughfare, saying if running the surf club is all he’s good for, then he’s going to do it right. When Justin appears, John pretends to be giving Ryder advice.

Dean notes that either the food’s getting better or he’s getting used to being in hospital. Mackenzie tells him about leaving a message for Logan, blaming Dean for making her think she could be happy. She heads to another floor in the lift and runs into Logan, having a go at him for not getting back to her. Logan says to hold that thought before passing out. A nurse comes running over. Soon after, Tori and Christian are examining Logan, who recalls Mackenzie yelling at him. They leave to carry out scans and Logan suggests he and Mackenzie continue their conversation.

Chloe turns up at the surf club and is relieved to see Ryder, who notes they’ve been awake 36 hours. He also points out they’ll have to do it again. Chloe says she just wants to go home and have cheese on toast and watch a bad movie. Later, John is walking outside when he hears snoring. He finds Ryder and Chloe asleep in the car.

Logan is amused at the fact Mackenzie called him and asked him out. He says the rescue made it hard to text and suggests she owes him an apology. Mackenzie says to pretend she didn’t call instead, if a first date is this hard. She leaves. Logan goes to follow her but Christian stops him, saying he needs the scans. Later, Tori is looking after Logan before Christian calls her away. He says the scans are clear but Logan has concussion so has to stay in for observation. Tori cringes at the idea of babysitting him.

John tracks Justin down at the Diner and says he’s turning him down: Justin has pitched John’s own idea to him and refused to pay rent. John says he has to look after his own interests, prompting Justin to accuse him of not really caring about them. Leah steps in but Justin storms out. Leah follows Justin onto the pier where he notes John hasn’t even exchanged contracts and is already unbearable. He wants to find another garage.

Tori finds Logan in admin. He calls her his third favourite doctor and says he got bored in bed so offers to do triage. Tori threatens to sedate him, although Logan points out you’re not meant to do that with head injury patients. Christian appears and Logan calls him his second favourite doctor. Christian asks who’s first and Tori says no prizes for guessing. Christian says Maria should make her wedding. Tori steers Logan back to his cubicle, looking frustrated.
