Extended Summary

Christian checks on Nikau in his room and notes he’s doing well but doesn’t have much appetite. Nikau says he’s just not hungry. He looks pleased when Christian tells him he can go home so long as he takes it easy. Ari turns up and Christian takes him outside, ostensibly to do paperwork. He asks if Nikau’s been down. Ari admits he has since he woke up. Christian hopes him going home will change things. Behind them, Nikau looks miserable. Meanwhile, Irene finds Bella standing on the pier. Bella points out that Nikau spent weeks begging her to speak to him and now he doesn’t want her. Irene says it will get easier but Bella says she wants to be with him. Irene hugs her.

John notes that he thought Leah and Justin would want to use the money to buy their dream house. They reply that they still intend to do that one day, but this stops him having to buy into a business he’s not interested in. Tori appears and shares their delight at getting the money back, saying she’ll get Jasmine to babysit so they can celebrate. John makes a quiet exit, with Leah saying that they’ll reimburse him for any charges he has retracting the offer. Later, Christian has come home and been filled in. Tori notes it’s a while since they had anything to celebrate. Christian protests that he just proposed, plus Nikau’s been discharged.

Irene serves Bella at the Diner. Mia comes in and order takeaway moussaka and mud cake. Bella asks her about Nikau and Mia tells her about him being discharged. She suggests Bella come over when he’s settled. Bella tells her about Nikau wanting her to leave him alone. Meanwhile, Ari and Nikau arrive at the Parata house. Nikau agrees it’s good to be home. Hearing someone come in, he asks if it’s Chloe, but his face falls when he sees it’s Mia, despite her greeting him warmly. He quickly makes an excuse to go in the shower. Ari hopes he’s just adjusting.

Tori rejoins the others at Salt, telling them Jasmine has just put Grace down. Leah wonders if John was put out by the change of plans but Justin thinks it’s no problem: He’ll withdraw his offer and they’ll match it. Justin notes John did have some good ideas, like panel beating. Christian and Tori tell him he can’t steal John’s ideas. Later, Leah and Justin discuss going on holiday but note it doesn’t help that Tori and Christian haven’t set a date. The pair accept the point. Justin points out they already had a wedding planned so they agree to talk to Brody about rebooking the vineyard.

Nikau is picking at his meal with Ari and Mia. He asks where Chloe is and they explain she’s with Ryder and will see him tomorrow, while they have no idea where Tane is. Despite Mia trying to get him to stay for dessert, Nikau makes his excuses and goes to his room. At the Diner, Bella laments to Irene that Nikau’s still ghosting her. Irene tries to get her to agree to go for a walk with her tomorrow. John comes in and Irene notes that Leah told her he doesn’t need to buy the garage anymore. John says he was looking forward to owning property. Irene thinks it’s best to keep friendship and business separate, noting she and Leah have struggled sometimes.

Nikau is sat crying outside the house. Mia stumbles across him and Nikau says the accident happened because she went looking for him and she lost the baby. Mia says there were a hundred things that caused the accident. Ari listens in as she tells him sometimes really bad things just happen and they don’t blame him, comforting him. Next morning, Bella is taking photos near the beach. She suddenly sees Nikau approaching with Ari and Mia, but Nikau quickly turns and goes the other way. Ari tries to convince Bella it’s because he just got out of hospital. After Bella has gone, Mia reflects that they’re both hurting.

At the Morgan house, Leah, Justin, Christian and Grace are scattered around as Tori finishes a phone call with Brody. She tells them that Simone’s pregnant, which means another cousin for Grace and Ava. They wonder if Brody will be able to cope with organising a wedding on top of that. Tori and Christian note they were only getting married in Victoria to celebrate with them, so decide to start planning again. At the Diner, Justin tells Leah he’s hoping it will be a beach wedding without suits, as they fill Irene in. John enters, having just texted them to meet him there. He tells him he’s not going to withdraw the offer, so they can use the money to set their lives up.

At the surf club, Ari and Mia discuss Nikau. Ari thinks they need to put their future plans on hold while they help him and goes to check on him. After he’s gone, Mia looks at adoption sites on her phone. Ari heads home and finds Nikau watching sport. He wonders why Nikau’s avoiding Bella. Nikau thinks she just feels sorry for him but Ari disagrees, showing him all the messages she sent while he was in hospital.

Ari goes back to Mia at the surf club, telling him that he gave Nikau a push to make things right with Bella. Nikau goes to the Diner flat to talk to Bella. He tells her he doesn’t want to be with her anymore so she needs to stop trying to contact him and move on.
