Sally battles the Stalker for her life as Peter races against time to save her. Will the Stalker succeed in getting their ultimate revenge?
Extended Summary
Peter and Clare are working frantically away when they get a call from Sally; Zoe (Eve) is telling her what to say. They tell her they know she’s really Eve. Zoe’s caught off guard and hangs up. But Peter heard a noise in the background.
Zoe’s surprised Peter worked her out so fast. She has no need for Sally in that case. She’s going to have to kill her. Sally pleads with her, but Zoe pulls a gas pipe from the wall, sending gas hissing into the room, and leaves. She’s driving into Summer Bay when she sees the fliers advertising the town meeting.
Flynn and Alf are shocked to find out it’s Sally. Peter wants to know if they know of any place Zoe like in or around the Bay. They don’t, but the news about Zoe is about to spread. Everyone is stunned and Flynn can’t bear to hear how much danger Sally must be in. Leah tries to comfort him but his frustrations are uncontainable.
Clare decides they have to set a trap to attract Zoe to them. They’re going to call a town meeting. Peter isn’t happy about putting locals at risk but Clare asks him to trust her. She’s got a devious plan.
Everyone arrives for the town meeting and goes into the Surf Club only to be led out the back and loaded into a huge truck and taken to the Diner. Zoe’s outside, watching in her car, about to put on a disguise and go in, when she gets sus and decides not to. Peter recognises the sound he heard in the background of the phone call – it’s something from a tyre factory out of town. Clare says she needs him here, Peter goes. Zoe drives after him. Peter turns off the road onto the wrong track. Zoe gets to the place she’s holding Sally and enters to find her almost dead. But as she leans over her, Sally jumps up, knocks her over and makes a run for it – her hands now untied. Everywhere she runs, Zoe is ahead of her. Sally runs inside and tricks Zoe into thinking she’s in a particular room. Zoe goes in and Sally locks the door. But she’s trapped because Zoe’s locked the door to the main building. Peter smashes his way in. They make it to the car just as the whole building explodes from the gas.
Back at the police station that afternoon, it’s revealed Zoe’s body was removed from the building – identified by dental records. Peter is hating the fact he took so long to discover the Stalker was Zoe. Clare comforts him, their eyes meet and they kiss. Sally and Flynn are celebrating their reunion as well. Peter listens to the last of Sarah’s taped interview where she utters the words, “The phoenix will rise from the ashes”…The words hang ominously in the air…
