Leah’s vlog gets some unwanted attention. Robbo turns down the job with the Feds. Dean gets the girl!
Extended Summary
At the caravan park, Willow gives Dean a cold drinks can to hold to his bruised face. He admits that he said a few things to Justin involving her. Willow wants to go and try to get his job back but Dean tells her not to, adding that he got the girl. He checks that he has. At the academy, Robbo is preparing for a session. Lance tells him he needs to make a choice about the psych test, since Lance will need to find a replacement for him if he pulls out. Robbo chats to Jason about their beep test, and agrees to tell Jason anything if he beats him.
Alf, Leah, Roo and Hunter are crowded around a laptop on which Leah’s website has been set up, along with her introduction video. Leah clicks on the icon to launch it. Shortly after, John, Marilyn, Raffy and Ty are watching the video, although John thinks Leah come across as a bit stiff and also comments on the site being mostly recipes. Raffy and Ty go back to the table to do their Maths homework, joking with each other.
Some time later, Ty jokingly points out Raffy isn’t tutoring him and she quips that he needs to leave the nest some time. John watches them from a doorway until Marilyn walks past him and asks him to walk her to the Diner. John isn’t certain about leaving Raffy and Ty alone, thinking they’re getting along a bit too well. He ends up instructing Ty and Raffy to come with them for lunch. At the Diner, Leah quizzes Marilyn about the website. Marilyn is slightly evasive while John adds that he read it all, leaving her wondering if there’s not enough content. Raffy asks if she’s checked the traffic: Visitors, comments, re-posts. Leah looks confused, even more so when Ty suggests getting the real-time matrix online. Raffy tells her to ask Hunter.
Robbo competes in the bleep test, running back and forth and hitting buttons. Jason is one of the last to drop out but Robbo goes longer than him. After a brief chat, Jason goes off to lunch and Lance comments that Robbo has a fan. Robbo still isn’t keen on seeing the counsellor so Lance suggests an alternative: He becomes an instructor at the academy. Later, Jason approaches Robbo to discuss having the afternoon off and wonders about the things he’s seen. Robbo asks why Jason wants to be a cop, and a federal one at that. Jason says he wants to make the world better. Robbo agrees that Jason can ask him anything he wants and admits he joined the police straight out of school for similar reasons.
Roo is looking at Leah’s video on her phone. Hunter approaches and asks what she thinks of it. Both are reluctant to give an opinion but eventually admit that they both think she’s a little stiff. She could redo it but Hunter doesn’t want to suggest it. Roo eventually agrees she will if Hunter backs her up. Later, Hunter shows Leah the site traffic and Leah is disappointed that there isn’t much and half of it is her. Hunter prompts Roo to suggest that Leah was a bit too formal. They tell her that everyone that knows Leah loves her so she should just be herself.
Leah sets her phone up on a post outside to record a new video. She makes a couple of faltering starts but eventually says that she’s an inexperienced vlogger but has set up the site to help the community and so people can open up. Back at the academy, a fair crowd has gathered around Robbo, with Lance standing nearby. Robbo tells them about being undercover and only having your handler as support. Jason is somewhat over-enthusiastic about the idea, calling it heroic. Robbo snaps that your family don’t see you for months and don’t know if you’re alive: You’re making a decision for them and and there’s nothing heroic about that.
Willow finds Justin at Salt and asks for two minutes to talk to him. Justin says only if she’s not there to ask for Dean’s job back. Willow says Dean wasn’t the reason they broke up but Justin thinks there was a timer from the moment he turned up. Willow says she wishes she’d known what Justin was really like, then she wouldn’t have wasted her time. At the Diner, Irene says her goodbyes to Ash, who is understanding of why she has to go, and tells him she’s proud of him turning his life around. As Ash exits, he passes Willow and tells her that Justin and Dean are both his friends and she’s in danger of hurting them both.
Lance finds Robbo throwing stones and comments on his speech. He calls him Ryan; Robbo corrects it but Lance says changing his name doesn’t change who he is. Robbo says he’s not ready to talk about Lauren and the kids and can’t go back to the police: He doesn’t believe in that life anymore. Lance says he was hoping to get his friend back but accepts he’s not the same person. They both agree they had good times though and Lance joins in the stone-throwing. Back at the caravan park, Willow finds Dean and asks why he wants to be with her, saying she’s not that special. Dean says she passed him food over the fence when his mum was AWOL, looked after him after the accident and tried to get his job back even when he asked her not to, and he’s been waiting for years for a chance to pay her back. Willow kisses him, although she looks as uncomfortable doing so as ever.
At the Diner, Alf, Leah, Roo, John and Marilyn group around a laptop showing Leah’s new introductory video. The others all agree it shows off the real her. Ty and Raffy stick their heads around the door to remind everyone that they need to get home and eat. As they move away, the laptop quickly display the first two comments, dismissing Leah as another boring beach mum and saying she needs to stop talking. John, Marilyn, Raffy and Ty arrive home and the adults go towards the bedrooms. Raffy asks Ty to teach her guitar and maybe play one of his songs for her but Ty gets defensive and aggressively refuses. John and Marilyn walk in on them arguing and Marilyn comments that at least it means they’re not going to get together.
Next morning, Roo bumps into Leah in the caravan park and says she was going to try out the recipe for pancakes she found on her site. Leah checks her phone and is pleased to see she has had hundreds of views and dozens of comments (at least some of them from the same two people as before): However, the first one she reads is “Does she ever stop whining?” and they don’t get any better…
