Rachel returns from being away with a plan for the future. Annie is convinced Romeo is her secret admirer. Annie and Jai must compete to leave Summer Bay.
Extended Summary
Rachel returns from Karitane, saying she feels better but Tony is still wary. Tony is determined to look after Rachel and tries to do everything for her but this stresses her out. Gina encourages him to keep being supportive. Rachel tells Leah she thinks the root of the problem is she needs to recognise her strengths and weaknesses. Tony comes around to check Rachel is ok and Rachel can’t help but snap at him. Rachel has figured out what she wants to do now she’s back but is nervous about raising it with Tony. She eventually she tells him – she wants to go back to work. Tony isn’t keen but Rachel says it’s her decision not his.
Annie can’t stop reading the poem; she’s convinced it’s from Romeo. Romeo is wracked with guilt over having given the poem to her and is avoiding talking to Jai about Annie. Annie tries to strike up a conversation with Romeo but he shuts it down. A girl going on student exchange to Japan pulls out, leaving the way open for one of two candidates – Jai and Annie. Neither are sure if they want to go now – Jai because of Annie, Annie because of Romeo. Irene, Miles and Aden can ascertain a lack of enthusiasm on the part of both Jai and Annie but neither come clean. Jai admits to Kirsty and Miles that he still likes Annie and they encourage him to talk to her about it. Aden figures out Annie is reluctant to go because of some reason and encourages her to speak to someone about it. She flirts with Romeo at a surf lesson but he is cold. Annie confronts him about it and about the poem, but he denies it. Then he starts flirting back – and they are seen by Jai. Jai is angry but Romeo is oblivious.
