Gina receives a visit from a mystery man. Angelo’s attempt to trap Hugo winds up in disaster. What is the secret Kirsty is keeping from Miles?
Extended Summary
With Angelo on a mission to pin the illegal abalone operation on Hugo, he gets Gibbsy to wear a wire in order to get some incriminating audio on Hugo. Angelo urges Gibbsy to stick to the script and tells him the police will be close by if needed. When Gibbsy talks to Hugo, things don’t go as planned and Hugo leaves. Angelo isn’t impressed that their mission to trap Hugo failed and is keen to try again; however, Gibbsy refuses and insists he wants a lawyer before things proceed any further.
Gina and the Austin brothers are surprised when Gina’s mysterious boyfriend Ted arrives in Summer Bay. As the family get to know the man in Gina’s life, she confides in Martha that she met Ted while on a course. Later, everyone is surprised when it’s revealed that Ted wants to take Gina away on a holiday. However, Xavier isn’t convinced that it is a good idea for his mother to go away with Ted, but Martha and Hugo believe otherwise.
Elsewhere, Martha is curious about Hugo’s disappearing act earlier in the day. When Martha presses him on the issue, Hugo simply replies that he had some business to deal, leaving Martha a little uncertain about Hugo’s honesty.
Miles and Kirsty are at the diner discussing the fact they were unaware it was Nicole’s birthday when Leah notes that Kirsty hasn’t really touched her meal. Kirsty makes an excuse that she’s not hungry before leaving. Later, an upset Kirsty confides in Justin that she’s not sure how she’s going to be able to tell Miles the truth. When Kirsty dodges Miles, Leah notices Kirsty in the company of Justin and jumps to conclusions.
Leah confides in Rachel about what to do after what she saw and Rachel insists that she should tell the truth. Miles visits Leah in the Diner and tries to organise a hamper for he and Kirsty, but Leah struggles to keep what she saw a secret. Later, Kirsty informs Miles she needs to tell him something, but Miles beats her to the punch and says he knows all about Justin. The couple get into a heated row before Miles storms out, leaving Kirsty devastated.
