Extended Summary
Following the bomb explosion, Hugo’s life hangs in the balance. Martha and Xavier are concerned when doctors tell them there’s some shrapnel lodged in Hugo’s body which is causing a build-up of blood and they need to operate. The next day, Xavier and Martha play a waiting game to see whether Hugo will pull through. When Hugo eventually wakes, Martha is filled with relief and, seeing how in love Martha and Hugo are, Colleen gives the couple her blessing. Later, Hugo and Martha finally say that they love each other and seal their feelings with a kiss.
With Trey on the run following the explosion, Charlie calls in reinforcements from the city to try and locate him. Stopped at a roadblock, Trey’s mother tells Charlie that she hasn’t seen Trey since he escaped from her car. However, later that night, Trey’s mother blames herself for not setting a better example for Trey and tells him that she’ll help him escape to the city but once he’s there he’s on his own. Called down to the station for questioning over Trey’s whereabouts, his mother lies and tells Charlie that she hasn’t any idea where he is. Not believing Trey’s mother, Charlie and Angelo agree to keep an eye on her as she knows more than she’s letting on.
With news of the bomb explosion sweeping town, Irene and Leah can’t help but wonder that, seeing as the trek was Trey’s idea, whether he had the bombing planned all along. Later, Kirsty admits to Irene that she’s not looking forward to telling Miles that she doesn’t want to have any more children just yet. Later, Kirsty admits the truth to Miles and says that she was scared he’d leave her. Miles tells her that that isn’t the case and when Kirsty says that she’s thinking about going to university, Miles is supportive of the idea.
Angelo tells Xavier that his court date has been set and it is tomorrow. However, with the bombing and Hugo in hospital, Angelo suggests that Xavier call the courts to explain the situation and says that he’ll probably be granted a deferral. Later, Angelo is perplexed when he’s informed that Xavier has missed his court date and it turns out that Xavier didn’t bother to inform the courts about the recent turn of events. Wanting to do right by Xavier, Angelo phones the courts and manages to get a deferral.
