Morag warns Josie she won’t be intimidated, despite the attempt on her life. Ric is forced to lie to cover for Cassie and Matilda’s crush on Diesel deepens.
Extended Summary
Morag’s near miss at the hands of a hit-and-run driver has shocked Alf. He wants to call the cops but she won’t let him. Morag finds Josie and says she knows it was her behind the hit-and-run. Watch out. She’s coming after her.
Matilda and Cassie are at the beach with Diesel and Matilda’s falling for him. Cassie tries to talk Matilda up to Diesel in private, but he doesn’t seem interested. Cassie doesn’t want to disappoint Matilda so she tells her there’s still a chance. Cassie sneaks back in to Summer Bay House and gives Ric the fright of his life. They nearly get caught by Flynn. Ric has to cover for Cassie. The next morning both Cassie and Ric have to lie to Sally. Cassie still can’t work out why Diesel’s not interested. She’s about to tell Matilda the truth, when Diesel walks up and says he is interested. He wants to take her out. Matilda’s thrilled. Cassie’s curious. Diesel tells her he just changed his mind that’s all. Cassie’s unconvinced.
Jesse’s obsessed with Josie and the resort and Martha’s finding it impossible to get through to him. They’re at the Diner when Josie comes in with Brett. Jesse sees them acting close and he starts acting close with Martha. Martha realizes why he’s doing it and walks out. Jesse apologises and Martha lets her guard down. He kisses her. They spend the night together, but in the morning he calls her “Josie” by mistake. She walks out – furious. Jesse feels awful. Brett finds out they slept together and makes a fuss, so Jesse decks him. Alf interrupts and Brett tells him what Jesse did to Martha. Alf is stunned and angry. Morag’s furious as well. Martha acts tough at first – then bursts into tears. She’s hurt. Jesse turns to the drink for comfort and Morag says she doesn’t want him on the case anymore. Constable Fitzgerald arrives to see Jesse about the assault on Brett!
Hyde receives a letter that says Beth’s job is no longer needed. He assures he’s going to fight it… with Beth’s help. Josie makes a call to her mystery contact and asks if they tried to run down Morag. It wasn’t them. So who was it?
The kids at school think Diesel’s gay because he’s different. Sally protects him again She’s going easy on him in class because he’s getting teased. This only gets him teased more! Sally offers to help Diesel catch up on study. He asks why she’s being so kind. She says it’s because she was once a foster kid. He notes it and smiles.
