Extended Summary
Ziggy and Mackenzie are walking alongside the surf club. Mackenzie is refusing to phone Logan, saying the way he left the number wasn’t classy. Ziggy points out Mackenzie kept it and says that they’re both hot and into each other. Mackenzie tries to get her to drop the matter so they can go and visit Dean. Later, they turn up at Dean’s room and congratulate him on his progress. Dean says he only took three steps but asks for gossip. Ziggy tells him Logan is hitting on Mackenzie. Dean says he’s a good bloke but Mackenzie denies liking him.
Ryder and Chloe are walking along the beach. Chloe is delighted by the number of orders they’ve got coming in but Ryder points out they can’t do them until the Diner is closed. Chloe thinks she can get rid of Irene and Marilyn but Ryder doesn’t like lying to people. They run into Roo who asks what they’re up to. A panicking Ryder claims they’re not up to anything until Chloe drags him away. At the Morgan house, Justin tells Leah he didn’t ask Ziggy to look after the garage because she needed time off for Dean. Leah thinks he should still hire a temp to run it and go back to TAFE. Justin says TAFE doesn’t start until next year but Leah looks up online and says there’s plenty of courses available.
Chloe gives Ryder a shopping list before going to help Marilyn. Roo comes in and asks Ryder what he’s doing. Ryder says nothing, so Roo asks him to help out with a delivery. Ryder tries to get out of it but Chloe tells him to go. Later, Chloe brings Ryder and Roo cold drinks outside. Ryder quietly tells her that he’s going to be there for hours. Chloe says she’s arranged for someone to deliver what they need.
Left alone in Dean’s room, Ziggy continues to pester Mackenzie about Logan. Mackenzie threatens to hit her and is balling a fist when Dean is brought back in a wheelchair. Mackenzie says she’s going to get a coffee and Ziggy says to get some for them as well, giving her the money. After Mackenzie has gone, Ziggy takes Mackenzie’s phone from her bag. Against Dean’s protests, she sends Logan a text to call her. Meanwhile, Justin has arranged to place an advert for the temp. Leah meanwhile has found a course online that he has already done some of the modules of and will let him qualify a year early. Justin leads her into the bedroom to “thank” her.
Roo thanks Ryder for his help, offering to arrange dinner. Ryder says he’s staying, claiming he has a romantic surprise for Chloe. Marilyn says they can get off in that case and Ryder says it was just keeping her company at work. Roo and Marilyn are underwhelmed but Chloe feigns delight. Roo leaves but Marilyn insists on staying. Later, Ryder and Chloe finally manage to get Marilyn out of the Diner before the delivery arrives but moments later Irene and Leah arrive, saying they’ve got a stock take to do before Irene’s holiday in a couple of days.
Mackenzie returns to the hospital room. Her phone rings and Dean and Ziggy wait on tenterhooks but it’s a staffmember calling in sick. Mackenzie leaves and Dean reminds Ziggy that they’ve only just got Mackenzie back and he doesn’t want to see her go on another downward spiral. Mackenzie goes to the lift where she gets a call from Logan and is confused that he has her number. She storms back to the room asking who did it and guessing it wasn’t Dean. Ziggy says she didn’t want Mackenzie to miss out on something special but Mackenzie says she’d made her decision. She says she told Logan it was a mistake. Dean suggests Ziggy might have a point but Mackenzie leaves.
Later, Dean and Ziggy finish watching a movie on a laptop and Ziggy notes the accident was the only way to get him to sit still. She says she has to go. Dean asks her to go easy on Mackenzie. Ziggy worries Mackenzie can only turn Logan away so many times. Mackenzie is at Salt where Dean calls her and asks her about Logan. He says Ziggy’s heart is in the right place. Mackenzie worries she’d mess things up with Logan. Dean reassures her. Mackenzie takes out the mat with Logan’s number on but tears it up.
Irene and Leah are chatting about Justin and Ziggy while doing their stock take. Ryder and Chloe quietly complain that they’re going to be hours. Ryder goes outside to look out for the delivery and moments later, the lights go out. Ryder claims that there’s a problem with the fuse box and goes out again to look at it. He comes back and says it’s just the lights, since the fridge is still working, and that he’s arranged for a friend to come and look at it. He and Chloe volunteer to stay and let him in and close up. Irene and Leah agree. Once they’re gone, Ryder and Chloe get to work making the takeaways.
Next morning, Ryder and Chloe have everything boxed up and ready for delivery. They make a quick exit as Irene comes in the other door. Irene is pleased that the lights work. By the beach, Mackenzie puts the two halves of Logan’s number back together and leaves him a voicemail, consisting of a rambling introduction and a suggestion he can call her if he wants. As she ends the call, she is left bewildered at the awkwardness.
