Extended Summary

Outside the bait shop, Roo and Marilyn fill Alf in on Irene being chloroformed. Marilyn is looking after the Diner while she recovers. Alf and Roo worry that Susie might have also taken money from the surf club. At the Morgan house, Tori is complimenting Christian on his day’s work, with him performing a craniotomy and Ari having good neuro obs, while Christian chatters to Grace about her day in Yabbie Creek. Leah and Justin emerge from the bedroom and Tori asks if they caught up with Susie. Justin tells her to take a seat.

Alf and Roo arrive at the surf club, debating the possibility of John giving Susie access to the surf club finances. Nearby, Nikau is showing Bella how he has tattooed the names of his ancestors on his arm, saying he’s also had it done on his back. He notes that Chloe’s working and Tane’s visiting Ari and then Ziggy, meaning they’ll have the house to themselves. Upstairs, Chloe is trying to get Ryder to tell people about them. She notes he seems to be scared of both Ari and Nikau. Ryder says he’s waiting for the right moment. Bella and Nikau turn up and say they’re having a romantic night in. Chloe says she has something to tell them about a romance; Ryder shoots daggers at her but she just tells them about Ari and Mia getting back together.

Dean and Jai have finished working on the poster. Jai is confident Dean will win the surf comp, as is Amber. After Jai has gone to his room, Dean asks Amber not to get Jai’s hopes up but Amber is convinced he will win and also notes he’s as excited at he idea of going to Movie World as Jai is. Meanwhile, Alf and Roo are looking through papers in the surf club office. Roo notes Susie made sponsorship deals worth thousands of dollars. Alf is unable to log onto the computer to check the accounts. Roo suggests he call Gerald, who will have off-site access.

Leah and Justin return home, having spoken to the police. Justin tells Tori and Christian that Susie’s car was found at the airport but there was no sign of her: She could be anywhere by now, and there was no record of either of the names they know about. The police think she’s done this sort of thing before. Justin is apologetic that this has scuppered the chances of Tori, Christian and Grace having the place to themselves. Leah notes it was meant to be a new beginning for all of them. Later, Tori and Christian ponder if they should start looking for their own place again. Justin appears from the bedroom and says Leah doesn’t want to talk to anyone. Christian takes Buddy for a walk, giving Justin and Tori a chance to talk. Justin is feeling stupid at giving all their money to a stranger.

Chloe and Nikau discuss what will happen with Ari and Mia now. Bella asks to order, since she wants to get going. Chloe quietly asks Ryder if they can tell Bella and Nikau now but he isn’t keen. Bella calls out the order and Ryder tells Chloe to take drinks onto the balcony. At the Diner flat, Amber tells Dean that Jai’s back in bed for now. Dean says he can’t believe that he’s planning a family holiday, and even Willow and Bella are getting on better. He thinks things are finally coming together.

Bella and Nikau can see Ryder and Chloe having a heated discussion before Chloe brings their pizza over. Chloe follows Ryder onto the balcony and demands he talk to her. Ryder says Nikau’s protective of her and he wants to do it right. Chloe understands and kisses him…just as Nikau appears. Ryder tries to follow Nikau and Bella downstairs but Nikau refuses to talk to him. Bella asks what’s going on and Nikau says what he saw. Bella is quite pleased but Nikau says Ryder told him nothing was going on. Bella points out Ryder won’t hurt Chloe.

At the Diner, Alf and Roo tell Marilyn their fears that Susie got her hands on the competition. Marilyn wonders why she went after John. Alf thinks it was the dating app and Roo agrees that people like her look for someone vulnerable. Marilyn wonders if she should call John but Roo thinks it might be too raw. Next morning, Alf and Justin chat outside the Diner about the possibility Susie got John to be president in order to get access to the surf club. Alf says it would be a shame if the surf competition had to be cancelled. Dean overhears and asks what’s going on.

Up in the flat, Jai is convincing Amber to let him take one of his posters to school for show and tell. Dean comes up and asks to talk to Amber in private. He tells her the surf comp might not be happening. However, he doesn’t want to tell Jai yet because he’s hoping to sort something out. Meanwhile, Ryder encounters Chloe outside the Parata house; she says Bella and Nikau were in bed when she got home. Shortly after, the pair emerge. With some prompting from Bella, Nikau says he doesn’t have a problem with them. Ryder says he hated Chloe when they spoke before but now he really likes her. They admit it’s been going on a few days. Nikau points out Ryder still has to tell Ari.

As Tori and Christian look on with Grace, Justin tries to get Leah to stay at home for the day. Leah says she has responsibilities at the Diner. Justin thinks they need to talk about what happened. Leah snaps that they lost all their money, before calming herself and saying they have to move on. Justin offers to walk her. After they’ve gone, Christian receives a phone call that shocks him and goes to take it outside. Near the bait shop, Roo is telling Alf that she doesn’t believe John really won the election. Alf says there’s a bigger problem: There’s no sponsorship money in the surf club accounts. Roo says they need to tell John and the police. Alf gets a text: John’s resigned as president.

Christian comes back into the house and tells Tori that he has to go into work: his craniotomy patient died last night and they’ve ordered a review.
