Extended Summary

Dean meets Ziggy at Salt and she tells him about the conversation going on at home. She thinks she should have stayed but Dean tells her it’s not something she can fix. Back at the farm house, Maggie tells Ben she didn’t sleep with Marco to hurt him. Ben says his head knows that but it feels like Marco was what she wanted and she settled for Ben. Maggie tells him he was never the consolation prize and she never cared what Diane thought. Ben says she had big plans but Maggie insists she doesn’t regret any of it and wishes he believed he was good enough.

Next morning, Ziggy comes out onto the Diner flat balcony and finds Dean standing by the car below her. He tells her to get dressed: The car’s packed and they’re going away. Ziggy tries to get him to tell her where they’re going but Dean says he’s going without her in five minutes if she’s not ready. Meanwhile, Ben and Maggie reflect on the last time they pulled an all-nighter: When they were planning their future post-cancer. Ben suggests going out together somewhere. Maggie says that wasn’t the deal and they’re not getting anywhere but Ben isn’t ready to give up yet.

Willow greets Jasmine as she arrives at the surf club with Grace. Jasmine wants to take photos of Grace for the yoga, saying Tori agreed to it. Roo arrives and approaches Alf in the office: He says Nikau’s looking after the bait shop and John wanted an update. Roo asks if he’s using that as an excuse to check on John. Alf replies that he’s going to check up on both of them. At the Palmer house, Marilyn wheels John in from the back and takes his bag. John notes it’s good to be home and they comment on the minor changes, such as things being lower down. John asks Marilyn to help him out of the chair. He has his back to her as she mentions making up Jett’s room for him, so she doesn’t see his disappointed expression as he agrees it makes sense with the modifications there.

Dean and Ziggy are now driving through a bush road. Ziggy worries that she doesn’t know what’s going on with Ben and Maggie, but Dean says they’ll call her if anything happens. He is still being mysterious about where they’re going but mentions they’ve got a tent. He encourages her to sing along to the car music. At the Palmer house, Alf arrives as Marilyn helps John to stand with the aid of a stick and then sit at the table. She gets both Alf and John some tea. After admitting he misses having someone else around to do the work, Alf points out that he can keep an eye on John so Marilyn goes out to do some errands. Alf asks John how he really is and John says he’s pleased to be home.

Willow is taking photos of Jasmine in various positions with Grace, although neither has much idea about yoga and Willow suggests they should have asked Tori. A woman, Melissa, turns up with her son Tyler and explains she’s from Jasmine’s forum and worked out this is her gym. Willow chats to her briefly about the yoga classes before Jasmine suggests they go outside. Meanwhile, Ben and Maggie are having a coffee near the beach and reminisce about how they first came there, with Ben wanting a surf and the car breaking down. Maggie wonders if history is all they have and Ben notes at least they’re not yelling at each other. Both agree they don’t want to end up hating each other.

Dean has led Ziggy into the bush to a remote spot near a river. He tells her there’s not a soul about for miles and presents her with a jewellery box. Opening it, Ziggy is relieved that it’s not a ring but a necklace, which she considers gorgeous. She tells Dean he didn’t need to buy her something and he mentions it’s their first anniversary. Ziggy looks shocked and walks away. Soon after, Dean finds her and she says that he’s the perfect boyfriend and she forgot their anniversary because she’s been so preoccupied with her parents. Dean is fine, saying it’s the first time someone’s called him perfect. They hug and kiss.

Alf and John finish off their surf club business. John thanks Alf for bringing his stuff back from the van and says he won’t need the caravan anymore since he’s hoping by the time he’s recovered he and Marilyn will be back together, which means it’ll all be worth it. Marilyn returns with treats from the Diner and Alf leaves her and John to it. Meanwhile, Jasmine and Melissa are walking near the beach with their respective buggies. Jasmine tells Melissa she’s taken the photo down and it was a mistake to post it, saying her husband’s an undercover cop and no-one can know where she is. Melissa is fine with keeping quiet but suggests they get together some time. Jasmine is evasive. After Melissa has gone, Jasmine tells Willow that she gave Melissa medical advice on the forum and she tracked her down.

Dean and Ziggy are curled up in the bush, having lost most of their clothes. Ziggy asks what River Boys do to show commitment. Dean suggests it’s what they just did, before saying she doesn’t want to know. At the farm house, Ben and Maggie arrive back having made their decision. Maggie doesn’t want to tell the girls over the phone. Ben says they don’t have a choice with Coco but Maggie wants to tell Ziggy in person.

Dean gets Ziggy to show him what she’s had done: A tattoo of crossed surfboards on her lower back, which his mate Knuckles did. Ziggy says it was torture but worth it. She gets a text from Ben and Maggie wanting to speak to her but says she doesn’t want to go back.
