Extended Summary

Ziggy is sitting in the Diner flat looking at her unopened letter. Ben is doing the same on the beach. Dean joins Ziggy as both of them start to open their letters, but while Ziggy goes ahead and takes hers out, Ben stops. Back at the farm house, Maggie is sitting alone and looks hopefully at her phone. Ziggy reads her letter while Ben screws his up.

Marilyn is looking after Grace at her house when Tori comes to pick her up. Although Marilyn suggests she’s missed Grace, Tori notes she isn’t getting much sleep as a result of sleeping next to her cot and explains the nursery is taking a long time. She leaves and Marilyn looks around at the empty house. Tori and Grace arrive home and Tori calls out. Getting no response, she decides to sneak a look at the nursery… and opens the door to reveal Justin standing there. He says Leah is sorting out a surprise for her and she can see the room when it arrives. He tells Grace to take Tori for a walk and closes the door. Tori hangs around outside for a moment and Justin calls out that he can hear her breathing.

Dean walks Ziggy down to the beach where she sees Ben and he leaves the two of them to talk. Ziggy approaches, somewhat teary. Ben tells her the results don’t make any difference and Ziggy realises he didn’t read them. She tells him he is her father. Back at the farm, Maggie is still waiting for news. Marco turns up, saying he’s come to celebrate the good news. Realising she doesn’t know, he teases her that he’s there and Ben isn’t, before handing her the letter and saying Ben’s the father. Maggie gives a laugh of delight and Marco says he’s lost any hope of having a daughter. Maggie says Ziggy would never have been his and now he can leave and not come back. Marco says it’s not that simple.

At the Diner, Leah makes a phone call to someone saying she’s paid her deposit so will expect everything ready at the close of business. Irene is pleased to see her feisty side again. At a table, Jasmine chats to Roo about craving chocolate milkshake now she’s pregnant and notes her scan is the next day. Roo, Marilyn and Irene all volunteer to go with her but Jasmine says she’s asked Tori. Irene notes the baby will have a nana and plenty of aunts (Leah adds herself to the list). Later, Tori and Jasmine walk with Grace near the beach. Tori complains about the nursery while Jasmine thinks she won’t want her baby away from her. She checks Tori is still going to the scan. Tori says Jasmine was there for her but suggests she might want Wendy there. Jasmine admits she hasn’t told Robbo’s parents about the pregnancy. Tori encourages her to.

Marco asks Maggie if she has any regrets. Maggie says she regrets lying to Ben for so long and sleeping with him in the first place. Marco says he never married because she was the one he wanted but she chose Ben. Maggie says she loves Ben. Marco says Ben and Ziggy will never look at her the same way and this is the chance for a fresh start together. Maggie is incredulous. At Salt, Ziggy apologises to Ben for making him take the test but says she needed to know Marco wasn’t her father. Dean brings drinks over and they wonder if Maggie knows; Ziggy wants her to suffer but Ben says it’s between him and her. Dean leaves them. Ziggy asks if Ben still loves Maggie and he says he does. However, when Ziggy asks if that’s enough he doesn’t answer.

Leah and Justin emerge from the nursery, having installed the surprise. Justin takes Leah’s hands to reassure her; he apologises but she says it’s okay. Tori returns with Grace and says she’ll put her down. Justin says her room’s the other way: The nursery is done. Tori instantly panics that it’s too soon for Grace to be left but they show her in. Tori is overawed by the way Grace’s books and cot are set up and especially by the surprise: A wall full of large family photos, including one of Mason and one of Robbo with Grace and Tori. At the Diner, Jasmine suggests to Irene and Marilyn that a call is impersonal so maybe she should wait until Robbo’s parents are next in town. She admits the real reason is she’s worried they won’t be as happy and will bring her down. Irene and Marilyn convince her otherwise. Near the veranda, Maggie tells Roo she’s as much to blame for Marco after keeping it a secret for so long. She hasn’t given up but doesn’t know what to do next.

Dean sees Marco come into the surf club and stops him going up to Salt, saying he should leave now he’s got the results. Ben and Ziggy come down; Marco tries to talk to them but Ben says he doesn’t have a brother and sends Marco away. Maggie arrives as he’s leaving and checks on Ben. Ziggy is unwelcoming but Dean steers her away. Maggie asks Ben to come home to talk. Back at the Diner flat, Ziggy is annoyed at being kept away but Dean stops her going out to interfere, saying it’s up to Ben and Maggie to sort out. He thinks their family will get through it because deep down they all still want to be a family.

Tori is sitting with Grace in the nursery. Justin pops in to say he’s swapped their things back to their old rooms, although he jokes he should have put hers in there. He joins Leah in the living area and predicts Tori will spend the night in the nursery but Tori heads to her own room seconds later. Justin says he’ll go to bed as well. Leah thanks him for being patient and he says he’s happy to follow her lead. Meanwhile, Ben and Maggie are back at the farm house but Ben isn’t really talking. Maggie says she kept looking out the window for him and Ziggy but Ben says they weren’t going to come running home arms open wide. Maggie asks whether he thinks he’d have stayed with her if she’d told him about Marco back then. She thinks they’d have survived because they’re soul mates. Ben replies that he thinks he’d have been reminded every time he saw Marco and wouldn’t have coped.

Justin is in bed when Leah knocks on the door and asks to spend the night there, stressing it’s just to sleep. Justin readily agrees. Leah gets into bed and lies next to him for a moment, then cuddles up to him, saying it’s nice.
