Extended Summary
Leah has been up all night with Luc. Conceding defeat, she takes her downstairs, surprised to find VJ already up. She reminds him the plan was for him to get some sleep before he returns to school today. They come up with a new schedule, so Luc might start sleeping better through the night. VJ remains anxious about leaving Luc. Leah reminds him he’s doing this to provide a future for his daughter. VJ finally gets Luc to sleep and reluctantly heads to school. Ash pops over hoping to take Luc for a walk. Leah apologetically explains she’s only just gone down. Ash notes how whacked Leah seems. She is dismissive, refusing his offer of help.
Ash hears about John from Irene and makes it clear he doesn’t give a stuff. He explains what happened with Luc. Irene feels Leah has never found it easy asking for help – sometimes the only way is to not give her a choice. Ash ponders that. Justin encourages Ash to take more time off work to spend with Luc. Ash agrees and buys a whole load of baby gear to help out Leah. She is grateful but confused about what motivated it. He implies Leah is struggling, which she bristles at. He smooths it over – he just wants to do his bit. Luc begins crying and he is as good as his word, taking over her care. Leah is unsure how she feels about it. Later, they disagree over whether Luc is hungry or not. Leah patronisingly points to her greater experience, which riles Ash. He eventually tells her to back off – Luc is his niece, which is a damn sight more than Leah is. She is left hurt and shocked and tells him to leave.
Marilyn is a bag of nerves. She explains to Alf that John has already been taken into surgery. She opens up about her fears – the surgery may leave John changed forever and she doubts he will ever forgive himself for his actions. Alf is a rock of support. After several hours, Nate reports the good news – the surgeon is hopeful he removed the tumour. Marilyn is relieved, but after being administered pain killer John goes into Anaphylactic shock. Nate struggles to get him breathing properly. After administering Epinephrine, John’s heart rate and BP finally return to normal. Marilyn is alarmed to learn what happened, though Nate believes it is unlikely to affect his recovery. Marilyn is able to visit – a still unconscious – John. It hurts her to see him this vulnerable – so much still in the balance. Alf encourages her to sit with him. She takes John’s limp hand, praying he will recover.
Raffy speculates on the reason for a Morgan family meeting – is Phoebe pregnant? That is quickly shot down. Justin wants Phoebe to move in. Raffy is stoked but there’s less enthusiasm from the others. Tori and Brody list all the reasons why Phoebe is great…before admitting neither wants her to move in. They decide a united front is required. Mason could care less either way but Raffy is disappointed. She attempts to subtly enlist Phoebe’s help but is forced to admit the truth – Phoebe is left hurt by the snub. She confronts Tori, who is adamant it isn’t personal. Phoebe is surprisingly gracious, accepting the house would be crowded. She is surprised to learn about Tori’s break up with Riley. Tori fears she has lousy judgement in men. Phoebe insists upon a girls’ night – reminding Tori of Phoebe’s better qualities. After a bonding session over ice-cream Tori surprises them all by changing her mind. Brody calls her a turncoat! With Mason unfazed either way, Brody eventually caves – Phoebe can move in.
